The room is dark, and except for a small lampshade turned on in the corner of the room, there was no other light. Sitting at the table for the last time in that house, Emanuele was writing paragraphs and more paragraphs on the topic of the week, taking deep breaths to stay focused. After the tentative conversation with Alexandra and the haunting confession, they both agreed to just call it a day. It was agreed between the two that Emanuele would have a week to find another place. The brown-haired girl couldn't find the energy to argue, so she slipped into her room and never came out again. The whole situation seemed too surreal to be processed properly. In a short period of time, Emanuele had started dating, lost her virginity, lost her mother, been accused of murder, found out that Joshua really had always felt something more for her than mere physical attraction, and, last but not least shocking, that Alexandra had never been the nice and peaceful sister everyone always thought s

Emanuele really, really wanted to send Joshua a huge text filled with rudeness and cursing. Next, the plan was to block him on all social networks, all his calls and text messages. Who knows, maybe then she would finally be left alone. But it was obvious that there was something about him that still stirred her. Maybe it was just the curiosity he aroused in her, the way he seemed so confident in talking about her being his, the determination to keep looking for her.Or maybe it was the fact that Joshua was a survivor, and in the strictest sense of the word. Not just someone who was alive, but who had found in her, a girl in her early twenties, the inspiration to get rid of the hatred built up in his chest and finally make peace with himself.Whatever it was, however, she was still committed. Not only committed, but she had given her virginity to the one who treated her so well, cared for her health both physically and emotionally, really cared about her.And most of all, Johnny didn't

Emanuele puts both hands on her cheeks, dumbfounded, as she sees and hears the slap Alexandra gives Thabata on the face. The blonde steps back a few paces, just as or more shocked, her eyes gleaming with hatred.Alexandra points to her own still open door."Get out of my apartment."To the surprise of the two, Thabata starts laughing madly."From what I see, sister-in-law, you're not the only one who fell for the siren's song. I never thought you would be so weak as to be manipulated by a fifth-rate murderous redneck."Alexandra stands without losing her composure, while Emanuele remains standing in the same place, a little more relaxed. Thabata keeps her viperine smile in place."Perhaps it runs in the family."The wheat-colored haired girl assumes a fighting stance."I can take you both out at the same time, and it doesn't even break a sweat. And you!" She points at Emanuele. "This time I'm going to leave you unrecognizable, with so many bruises and broken bones you won't even be ab

After Joshua confessed his feelings to Emanuele, the girl simply found herself smiling. As quickly as it appeared, however, the smile faded. Thabata looked like she was about to commit mass murder. Alexandra was so surprised, so genuinely in shock, that she couldn't even move.Joshua stood looking at the former bride, as if he knew exactly the weight of his own words and did not fear them. In fact, it was more as if he purposely wanted that weight, that impact to come through. Then Thabata ran off like a madwoman, without saying anything about where she was going or who she was going to talk to. Alexandra sat down on the sofa slowly, as if trying to make sense of it all. Emanuele remained still in the same place.Joshua took a deep breath, putting his hands in his pockets."Well, I'm sure she won't disturb any of you anymore."None of the girls say anything. Alexandra seems the most perplexed by the whole thing.Emanuele looks down, embarrassed, then asks:"Why did you say that?"His

Emanuele stares at Joshua's placid and slightly hopeful expression, and for a few seconds a perplexed silence envelops everyone in the house. The girl opens her mouth to answer, but fumbles and cannot utter a single sound.Joshua supplements his own question by saying softly:"We've already lived together for a while, we know each other's habits. And good, now that we'll be in my own apartment, we'll have more privacy to talk."The girl almost screams:"But talk about what? There's nothing for us to talk about, and my patience on this subject is wearing thin.""Why all this effort to deny that you have feelings for me? It's obvious to everyone, even your own boyfriend, and yet you insist that there's nothing between us."Johnny intervenes:"Emanuele has made her choice. As the honorable man you claim to be, you should just accept it and leave her alone."The sentence is short, but enough to disconcert the older man, who seems to absorb every word spoken. Then he shakes his head affirm
