After lunch with his children Ruby, and her cousin, he retired back to his office to continue his work. This had been one of the reasons he had stayed back at home today so that he would see that friend and cousin. He had thought that the woman would be her friend, while the man would be her "cousin” but it didn't turn out to be that way. Thankfully, he was truly what Ruby had called him, and he was even taken, which made it all good. He was still working when the door of his office opened after a small knock sounded. Davey poked his head into his office. "Mr. MacMillan, the man is here to see Ruby. You said I should notify you first when he arrives.” He said. Cameron nodded his head. He had told him so because he wanted the opportunity to meet the man first. He still wanted to make sure that he was the cousin’s boyfriend and not Ruby’s. As long as he was working for him, he wouldn't entertain the idea of her being in a relationship, and even if she was in one, he didn't want her b

"So you think your boss hates you?” Olivia asked as she came to sit on her cousin’s bed. They have been talking on the balcony for a while, with Ruby telling her everything that had happened with her boss so far, from the first day of him saying he didn't want her, to not have a choice when his kids asked her to stay, and from the scenario in his office where she wore a tank top, forgetting she had no bra on. If Olivia didn't know her cousin any better, she would have said that she did that on purpose, but knowing her, she knew it had been something she didn't really think about. Ruby was a woman that loved to cover up her body as much as she could, even though Olivia tried to curb that. It took her a while to get her to see how beautiful she was, and how much sex appeal she had as well. She would always compare her body to hers, finding fault in the way her hips flared or the way her breasts looked. She would complain her food went to her butt, never really seeing herself the way s

After Olivia and Liam left the house that evening, Ruby was left to deal with getting dinner ready and helping Summer and Spring with their homework. She was good with multitasking, so it didn't seem like much to her. What she was bothered about was Cameron. She had noticed a change in his attitude since he came upstairs to get her and Olivia. Ruby knew quite well that the man wasn't all warmed up with her, but it wasn't this bad. She wondered what she had done this time. The fact that she was this hated by him was what she didn't understand. There was something so strong between them, or maybe it was just her imagination, or one-sided, but since Olivia had put the thought that he might be attracted to her in her head, she had been thinking it all through. With everything he had done, she saw the likeness of that in some of them, but now with his attitude, she could tell they were just nothing but what she knew they were. Sighing, she walked away from behind the cooker to go sit wi

“You should lock your door when you're in a compromising position like this.” He said after chuckling. This was the first time she was talking back at him like this, and he found out he liked this side of hers even better. She removed her hand from her mouth and said. "You should go out sir. I'm undressed. I don't know what you want, but I'll be down soon.” She said but he stood rooted to the ground. Cameron would one minute decide that this woman wasn't someone he wanted, that she wasn't the right woman for him, that he didn't crave her, and move on, but in the next moment, like she had it planned, she would do something and it will seduce him back into wanting her all over again, painfully so, without even trying. She was starting to show a feisty side he didn't realize she had before, and by the way, her voice shook, she probably didn't realize it as well until now. He wanted to see what she would do, so he took several steps toward her, and instead of her taking a step back like

The dinner went well, with Ruby and Flora talking for length after putting the kids to bed. Ruby got to meet their five-year-old son; Duke, who had insisted on sleeping over with Summer. She could tell the boy was fond of Summer and had a crush on Spring. Smiling now as she remembered the fuss he had made before his parents agreed with him staying the night. Ruby had also had to promise them that she would make sure he was well fed and not to worry about him. They would be picking him up later this evening. She was really glad she met Flora and Lee again and was able to thank them for saving her life and sending her here. This morning, she had woken up early to make breakfast because Cameron had told her last night that his sister and grandmother were coming over today. This weekend seemed to be a visitor receiving one, but she didn't mind one bit. As long as she got to cook and put a huge smile on each of the kid's faces, then she was good with it. She had decided to make use of th

It was Monday, and the kids had been taken to school by Ruby, Cameron had gone to the office, with Davey somewhere downstairs doing what butlers do. She grabbed a book from her room and walked back down the star is to go out into the garden to read it. Cameron’s house was really beautiful, both inside and out, with an amazing landscaped area that had trees lined one part, and a small canopy in another to create shade. Under the canopy were those laid-back chairs seen at the beach. In the middle were two pools, one for the kids and the other for adults. The place was really usually quiet which was why she love it here. She remembered Davey once mentioning that Cameron sometimes came out here to work, or read, but Ruby just couldn't imagine him being the laid back type that would pick up a book to read. Although she knew quite well it could be the same kind of books she usually read. Sighing, Ruby walked to the part of the place where a chair was placed directly under the sun and tho

After Cameron left, Ruby wasn't able to go back to reading, because her inability to concentrate was worse than before, so she went back into the house instead, making sure no one saw her as she went upstairs to her room. She couldn't afford to be seen by anyone at the house with what she had on. She had a quick bath, changed into a pair of blue jeans and a white top, with a flowery yellow jacket, and went downstairs to prepare lunch before going to Summer and Spring’s school to pick them up. Normally, it was Cameron’s driver that picked them up and dropped them at home, but now, he was busy according to Cameron, so she had to go pick them up. It had happened once before when she went to pick them up, so it was fine. No one would question why she was the one that came to pick them. Thankfully, she didn't get there late, she was right on time when the kids were just pulling out of their classrooms one after the other. As she walked to Spring’s class, she smiled at the kids that pass

Dinner tonight was just with Summer, Spring, and Ruby, as Cameron had told her he wasn't coming home early tonight. “Where’s Daddy?” that had been the first question Spring asked when she came down for dinner. “He's going to be late tonight. Just sit down to eat your dinner so that you can go to bed early.” She said. “But I want to wait for Daddy.” She said, pushing out her bottom lip in a pout. "He has to read me a bedtime story.” She said. Ruby sighed with a shake of her head. "No, Spring. You can't wait up for him. It's a school night. I'll read you a story.” She said, promising her. “But why is he staying out late?” she asked, still not satisfied. Ruby wished she knew the answer to that because when he told her he would be coming home late, he had only told her that she shouldn't wait up. He had not really told her anything about why he would be doing that. Perhaps, he was going to be staying late at work. She lifted her shoulder in a shrug. "I guess he has plenty of work to

Thirty Eight

It was about midnight before Cameron parked his car in front of his house and got out the key. He had told his driver to go home without him when he realized he would be taking long more than necessary. He was a family man that had to go home to his wife and kids. Not everyone should work like he does, burying himself into work and doing it as if his life depended on it. Actually, more than his life depended on how well he succeeded and how much he made, because of the employees that worked for him, with families of their own they had to take care of. So, basically, a whole lot of lives depended on it all. Sighing, he bite his lower lip and got out of the car, and walked around to the other side. He realized that everywhere in the neighborhood was quiet, and his house looked sleeping as well. He had told Ruby he would be back late so he knew everyone would have gone to bed. He grabbed his bag out of the passenger's seat and closed the door, locking it, before proceeding to go into

"Okay," she nodded her head, and started to walk away from him, but he grabbed her arm to stop her, and then he pulled her back. He rested his head against her head so suddenly and unexpectedly that she gasped. “Let me stay like this for a minute.” He said, shocking her even more. "You smell so nice, Ruby.” He whispered but she heard him. What should see she make of this? Why was the almighty cold man embracing her, or needing to stand like this for? What meaning was she supposed to read into this? “Is everything all right? Do you want to talk about it?” she asked, slowly. Cameron smiled and gave a small nod against her shoulder. He wasn't sure how she did it, but she had gotten to know something was wrong. He had tried to keep it off his mind as he came home because he hated bringing the problems he faced at work home. His company might be a multimillionaire company but they faced problems sometimes that they wouldn't be able to solve immediately. He had stayed late at work beca
