Chapter 70: Darcy Princeton, Knight of Darkness – Part 2

After he had a nice, long shower, Darcy turned on his laptop and started working on his new project. By eight o’clock, he had completed what he planned to get done and headed out the door into the spacious living area of the apartment where all the brothers gathered for meals and entertainment. Once Darcy was in the dining area, he noted Nicolas, Sebastian, Hayden, and Conrad were already there, drinking their standard coffee, made by Beth, their housekeeper, and eating their breakfast. Darcy took a chair beside Conrad and poured himself a cup of black coffee. “I’m starving,” Tristan said a moment later. He slid into a seat and then proceeded to help himself to the perfectly cooked toast sitting in the middle of the table. “Morning,” Logan murmured as he came in, his hair all sticking out everywhere like he’d just had an electric shock coursing through his body. He took the chair next to Tristan and then poured himself a cup of coffee. “Ugh!” He made a sound after swallowing a mou

Chapter 71: A Chance Encounter – Part 1

It is beautiful, Sakura thought as she gazed at the bright rainbows that formed from the crystal chandelier by the window as sunlight shone on it, causing it to sparkle everywhere in her bedroom. She reached her hand out in midair as if to catch them. The prism of colors appeared on her pale skin instead. “Another beautiful spring day,” she said softly. She turned her face to her right to look at the alarm clock on her bedside table and noted it was nearing nine in the morning. Suddenly, her stomach flipped. Today was the day she’d get to see her biological mother, the woman named Haruka Tanaka, the woman who worked as an assistant to the famous Japanese designer Mr. Tachibana. The thought made her smile. Finally, after one full year of searching and waiting, she was able to meet her. Toby, her West Highland white terrier, nestled his head into her arms, seeking attention. She laughed. “Good morning, Toby. I’m sorry I won’t be home until late this evening. I have important busines

Chapter 72: A Chance Encounter – Part 2

Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the Princeton Hotel, and the girls couldn’t help gasping in awe. People! There were people everywhere. People going in and coming out of the hotel, staff going about their jobs, backstage people lifting equipment from trucks, etc. It was loud and noisy and very busy. Jane quickly got out of the taxi, followed by Sakura, whose eyes widened in anticipation. She’d never been to a fashion show before, and this first encounter really impressed her. She was amazed and greatly enjoyed herself observing her surroundings. Jane grabbed her arm and quickly dragged her to the front entrance. Sakura was even more impressed once they were inside the main lobby. It literally took her breath away. Though outside the building was quite modern, inside was designed and decorated in a French-Georgian classical style with massive Greek-like columns. The walls and ceilings were designed and embossed with colorful gods, goddesses, and fairies. The floor was made of mar

Chapter 73: Sebastian Princeton, Knight of Hearts – Part 1

“Mr. Princeton, sir?” Sebastian jolted back to reality with a start. He turned to look at the blond-haired, green-eyed woman with thick glasses addressing him. “What is it?” Jane Hamilton bit her lip and told herself to stop shaking so hard in front of the handsome billionaire who was scowling at her. She glanced up at him again, her eyes large. Oh shit! She shouldn’t have done that. He really did scare her, and she totally didn’t understand why every female in the world wanted to date him. Yes, he was very hot. Yes, he was very rich. And no, she didn’t find herself attracted to him in the very least, like every other female. She took a deep breath and said, “Sir, I was told you wanted to inspect the stage.” Sebastian sighed. He’d been in such deep thought moments ago that he’d forgotten about his request. Nicolas had asked him to inspect the stage, to make sure everything was fine. He wasn’t sure why he hadn’t been paying attention to his surroundings since they’d entered the hot

Chapter 74: Sebastian Princeton, Knight of Hearts – Part 2

Sebastian took the elevator and came to the top floor of the hotel where his parents’ penthouse was located. In the spacious living area, he found Lady Haruka and his parents, James and Brenda Princeton, having morning tea together. They are getting along well, he thought with a smile, and he was pleased. “Mom, Dad,” he said the moment they looked up. “Sebastian, darling,” Brenda said. “Join us.” He came to sit on the sofa next to his parents and poured himself a cup of coffee. He took a sip and found it was flavorless. Instantly, for perhaps the millionth time, he missed Sakura’s aromatic, flavorful coffee. His face darkened at the thought. Brenda noticed and said, “So how’s the stage inspection going?” “Shouldn’t he tell his staff to do that?” Tristan said from the other side of the room. “Nicolas, I mean.” “All his staff are busy I would imagine,” Logan put in. “And Sebastian is free.” “I think Nicolas is just too easygoing with his staff,” Hayden said, sipping his tasteless

Chapter 75: Past Love – Part 1

Melissa Williams couldn’t believe her luck when she saw the handsome young man with dark hair striding into the gallery. God, he literally took her breath away, and she really couldn’t take her eyes off him as he purposefully headed toward her. There was that something about him that really fascinated her. She decided it was partially due to the way he was walking, with that easy and confident grace that told the world he wasn’t the type to be messed with, that he knew what his goal was and wouldn’t deter until he accomplished it. The aura she sensed from him was that of mystery and darkness, and it intrigued her even more, thrilling her to a new height. This guy was the hard-to-catch type—the type that wouldn’t get into bed with her that easily. Then there was also the fact that he was way out of her league, but that made Melissa want him even more. Her eyes gleamed with delight as he came toward her. God, just look at the way he walks. And his body? She was sure beneath that expens

Chapter 76: Past Love – Part 2

Darcy felt his heart thumping loudly and furiously within his chest. His head was pounding at the reminder of their childhood. Could this tree in the painting be the same tree on St. Joseph Island? But how? No! It must be his imagination. No, he reasoned himself. It was just very alike, that was all, and nothing more. “Ah, there you are,” Melissa said from a distance. “It’s ready.” Darcy turned to her then. “That painting, how much is it?” Melissa blinked, momentarily confused. Then she turned her attention to the painting on the floor resting against the wall. The first thought that came into her mind was, It’s finished? “How much is it?” he asked again, his eyes intense. “I’m not sure,” Melissa said uncertainly, taken by surprise by his tense tone of voice. “I’ll have to ask first.” “Who’s the owner?” Darcy demanded. “Ms. Tanaka,” Melissa said. “But she’s out.” Darcy gritted his teeth. “I want that painting. How much is it?” “I don’t know, sir,” Melissa replied again. “You’

Chapter 77: Mistaken Identity – Part 1

Oh God! Kill me now! Just kill me right now, Sakura thought as she stared at herself in the full-length mirror. Was this really her? Holy Mother of Jesus Christ! She had pink hair. Candy floss pink hair! It was intricately formed into a chignon high on her head with a garland of cherry blossoms and beads of pink mother of pearl artistically decorating it. Her face! She moved closer to have a good look. She had to gasp again. Was this really her? She blinked. Her face was flawlessly made-up with rosy pink blush, bright eyes, long, dark lashes, and hot ruby lips. Sakura, she thought, you looked like one of those high fashion models who was about to walk a catwalk. Her heart did a somersault. Oh God, yes, that was exactly what she was about to do in twenty minutes’ time, and it was all due to a case of mistaken identity. She was supposed to be here, minding her own business to sneak a peek at her supposedly biological mother, Haruka Tanaka, but now look at where it got her. The gown!

Chapter 78: Mistaken Identity – Part 2

Sakura was praying very hard Jane would miraculously appear and sort out this mess when she heard a commotion on the other side. She looked up to see the famous Japanese designer Mr. Tachibana coming toward them, his long hair—dyed bleach blond—flying and his long white robe fluttering about him. Beside him was the woman Sakura had been waiting eagerly to meet in person, the woman who had given birth to her twenty-five years ago, Haruka Tanaka, also known simply as Ms. Ruka. She was tall, Sakura realized, with strong, angular face, and thin nose that sat nicely on her face. She was very beautiful. “What?” Mr. Tachibana shouted at Chris Wilson. “Sakura isn’t here yet? And you didn’t tell me this until now? When we only have ten minutes until showtime?” Sakura licked her lips, her stomach flipping in dread as she watched them coming closer to her, still arguing about the missing supermodel Sakura Taito. Ms. Ruka watched Chris fluster in his spot as if he wanted to die. After all, Saku

Chapter 79: Destiny – Part 1

Sakura wasn’t prepared for today. In fact, she wasn’t at all prepared for any of this to happen to her. There she was, standing in the middle of the endless runway, watching Akira expertly doing her walk, her slim hips slightly swaying as she elegantly held one hand to the long dress, showing it off. Meanwhile, a few other girls were heading back toward her. Thump! Thump! Thump! What was she supposed to do? She nervously glanced at Mr. Tachibana, who nodded at her to start walking. Don’t think, she told herself. Just listen to the music. That was when she heard it. Why hadn’t she heard it before? It was lovely Japanese traditional music mixed with modern pop, and it caused her heart to soar like a bird. She felt as though a pair of white feathery wings had just grown out of her back and were taking her up higher into the air. Then she did it. She walked. She was actually doing her walk in time with the music. She wasn’t thinking of her stage fright, nor was she thinking of the audie
