CHAPTER 90: THE FIGHT BETWEEN BROTHERS

Naya's POVThe next morning, Talon and I were supposed to leave for Hawaii again. We were packing our bags and making sure we had everything we needed when suddenly, Nelson barged in. I could see the look of anger on his face, and I knew trouble was brewing. What was he doing there? Why did he have that look on his face? What did he want from us? I kept wondering, not until he came closer to Talon. The brothers started arguing.“I’m wondering why you had to come back here. I mean, y’all could’ve found another way out,” Nelson said.Talon ignored him totally, but it seemed as though Nelson was ready for trouble. He drew nearer to Talon and stood in front of him.“Did you even hear what I said?” he said as he held Talon’s hands.“Let go! Don’t ever think of touching me again. What is your problem?” Talon said.“I’m just trying to care for an older brother,” he said.“I see how well you’re doing that.”“Admit it. You’re not supposed to be here. You could’ve disappeared forever. Seeing you

CHAPTER 91: THE DEVIL ON THE TRIP

Naya's POVThe trip to Hawaii was supposed to be fun and exciting, but instead, it was quiet and tense. Talon was angry about something, and he didn't want to talk about it. I tried to lighten the mood and make the place fun, but it seemed like nothing I did could make him happy. I tried to draw nearer to him and even touched his hand, but he didn’t even react. I was worried about his reactions. Why did he have to treat me this way? Was he still mad at me? It wasn’t really my fault that he fought with his brother. His anger was that I called his father, but I had to. The punches they threw on each other gave me a course to worry and I couldn't stop thinking about it. I had to do something about it. And, I did what I felt was right at the moment. But, I didn’t expect Talon to be angry at me for such a long time. I expected him to have let go of the anger he had in his heart. I knew that he wasn’t happy that his father didn’t want him around, and the last thing he wanted was for his

CHAPTER 92: TUSSLE FOR POWER

Nelson’s POVI got back home from work in anger. I had been brewing all day and it was starting to boil over. I had been working at the same job for a long while and I felt like I was going nowhere. I was tired of being overlooked for promotions and not getting the recognition I deserved. And to make matters worse, my dad began to scold me. He immediately started lecturing me about how stupid I was to go to Talon's house. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I had every right to go to that house and Eric had no right to scold me. I was jealous and I wanted Talon out of the way. I wasn’t thinking when I made the decision to attack Talon. I couldn't stop myself from being jealous. I wondered why despite everything my dad still preferred Talon to me. Wasn’t I the one who exposed Talon’s secret to him? Wasn’t that supposed to make my dad love me more? Wasn’t he supposed to have handed over the property to me? Yet, he didn’t want to hand over anything to me. He kept me in the dark. I

CHAPTER 93: AMBITIOUS NELSON

Nelson’s POVI couldn't stop thinking about my father’s attitude towards me. Even when I felt that I was a bit rude to him when I had previously spoken to him, I didn’t feel that way anymore. To me, my dad deserved to hear the truth. I couldn't lie to myself anymore. It was painful and killing me inside. The silent treatment and all was killing me. There was just one thing to do to end it all. I had to kill Naya. Killing Naya was definitely going to destabilize Talon, and there was no way he was going to get away from it. After all, Talon never loved Naya. She was just someone he hired to deceive our dad. She was ugly and not worth falling in love with. In fact, he had made it abundantly clear that he thought she was the ugliest person he had ever met. So I made a decision. I was going to get Naya killed. I knew it was a drastic measure, but I was desperate. And so, I hired some Goans to do the job for me. I told them that she had to be killed at all costs, and that I would pay f

CHAPTER 94: THE ATTACK

Talon’s POVI remember that day like it was yesterday. Naya and I were having a nice time, enjoying each other's company when suddenly we heard a loud bang. The sound was so loud that it could draw anyone’s attention. Before we could even react, the door of our house was broken down and a group of masked men stormed in. It was chaos as they started attacking us with weapons. I couldn't recognize any of the men since they were masked.Instinctively, I knew I had to protect Naya at all costs. I pushed her behind me and fought off the attackers as best as I could. They tried to attack her and I swiftly pushed one of them away. The battle was fierce and I couldn't fathom what was going on. Everything was happening too fast. How did they come to the house? What did they want from us? Why were they directly attacking Naya? Did they want her dead? I just couldn't stop thinking about the evil thoughts that were running through the head of the men. I wondered if they were sent to harm us and

CHAPTER 95: THE AFTERMATH

Talon’s POVAfter the traumatic incident that Naya and I had experienced, I knew that she would be struggling to deal with her emotions. She cried herself to sleep, and I spent the night taking care of her and tending to her needs. I sat up for most of the night, watching her sleep and wondering what I felt in my heart. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but I knew that I cared deeply for her. I tried to figure out the reason why I cared so much about her, but I couldn't think of one. I just realized that I enjoyed seeing her happy. And, I was ready to keep making her happy. I knew that I just had to do my best to be there for her when she needed me. She definitely would be there for me if I needed her too. She was a nice person after all. I was glad that spending time with her made me to get to know her even more.As the sun began to rise, I decided to get some rest. I only slept for an hour or two before I woke up and decided to visit an old friend. I needed some time to clear

CHAPTER 96: A DINNER DATE

Talon’s POVI still couldn't believe that I had fallen in love with Naya. After I left her that morning, I decided to meet up with my old friend, Frederick. We spent the day catching up and reminiscing about old times. We had been good friends in the past. However, Frederick could tell that something was bothering me. He teased me about falling in love with Naya, but I denied it. I wasn't ready to admit my feelings just yet. I was still trying to come to terms with them myself. I told him that I would never love a woman after losing my mother, but he didn't press on it. And, I was saying the truth to him. After everything that my mum had done to me, I believed that I was never going to give another woman a chance in my life. My mum succeeded in messing up my head with thoughts that every woman was going to leave you someday. I tried my best not to believe her, but it was hard. After all, she left my dad and Nelson and I without ever looking back. I didn’t care for the fact that sh

CHAPTER 97: MEETING FREDRICK

Naya's POVAs we walked into Frederick's house, I was surprised to see that I knew him from the streets I stayed on when I was younger. He used to live on the same street with me then. We got to talk a few times at that time. But, we weren’t so fond of each other. Seeing him all of a sudden surprised me and it made me happy. I felt joy inside of me. I had wanted to associate with a few more people from the outside world, but it felt like all I had was just Talon and the inner me. It was a pleasant surprise, and we hugged each other tightly. It felt good to see someone who had known me for a long time, and who could share in our happiness. We were all sitting in the living room, chatting away, and I was getting along great with Frederick's wife. Talon seemed happy that I was comfortable and that I was enjoying myself. He had never seen me with any friends, or heard me calling anyone, so I could tell that he was happy that I was happy. He kept staring at me almost every time I looked

CHAPTER 98: A GRAND TREATMENT

Naya's POVTalon was acting strange the whole day. He was constantly staring at me with a dreamy look in his eyes and he kept asking me if I needed anything. I couldn't help but wonder what was going on in his mind."Talon, what's wrong?" I asked, trying to get him to open up."Nothing's wrong, Naya. I just want to spoil you today," he replied with a smile."Talon, you don't have to do this. I'm happy just being with you," I said, feeling overwhelmed by his gestures."I know you are, but I want to do this for you. You deserve it," he said, looking at me with affection in his eyes.I couldn't help but feel a warm fuzzy feeling in my chest. I knew Talon cared for me deeply, but I never expected him to go to such lengths to make me happy. I never believed that he was going to ever tell me that he wanted to spoil me. I thought what we were having was just more like friendship. To me, I was just a flatmate to Talon. But, it seemed like there was more to it from his part. Even if he never

CHAPTER 99: THE TEST RESULTS

Naya’s POVTalon had gone out to buy breakfast, but I could barely stomach thinking about eating anything at all. Something had gone seriously wrong with my body; I had been sleeping a lot and throwing up, suggesting something other than simply stomach upset was at play here. I needed to know what was wrong with me. I was so sure that something was wrong with me. I was ready to try to check up on my health. I believed that it was the perfect time to do it. Talon might become alarmed, so to ease his worries I decided to go alone to the hospital. Just so he wouldn't worry too much I told him I was taking a walk around town instead so as not to alarm him further. After all I never wanted him to know what was wrong with me. He had constantly convinced me to do a checkup, but I never agreed. Letting him know that I finally accepted to go to the hospital wasn’t a good idea to me.As soon as I arrived at the hospital, I made an immediate beeline to the emergency department where they took
