Maddie POVThe jeep races as I tell Lucas where to go. My heart is beating so fast, and I’m terrified we won’t make it in time- what would I do without him? We barely just found each other again. Maddie POV The growls are gaining and I can smell their fowl smelling breath as they gain on me but I won’t give up. My claws dig into the ground as I speed through the forest, ducking trees and branches, keeping away from my demise. Just a little further- I am almost there. I need to figure out how to ditch them. I have to lead them to the trees and by my calculation of where the sun was in the vision, the search party should be making their rounds to the two trees where we planted the bodies any time now. I leap into the air and as I get closer to them, bounce off trees until I am safely on a branch. The Zobs keep going, not realizing I am gone- I know they smell fresher meat nearby and then I hear the search party, “More are coming, we need to go.” The leader states -Just like the vision. Maddie POVI open my eyes slowly and look around the room. I feel groggy and look at my arm- there’s nothing there. If I don’t have any drugs going into my system, then why do I feel like this? The room is blurry at first and then I see Colt’s outline. Am I in his hospital room?“Colt,” I whisper, looking at the blurry figure.“Maddie, I am right here,” his voice comes but it’s not from the outline; it’s coming from bedside me. Flashes hit me now and I realize that in 1006 in the bed next to mine.“What happened?” I ask My body still aches and I feel groggy. My eyes begin to focus better, and I sigh, as 1006 comes into focus. He is hooked up to IVs and machines but is beginning to wake, just like me.“Dr. Wayne has come up with a theory but,” his voice is croaky and as I look at his face, I see he may have shed a few tears in secret.“What theory?” I ask.
