Ch-30

Cynthia promptly turned on her heels and marched out, giving Faith a moment alone to assess the situation. She had learned a long time ago that you cannot make everyone like you, no matter who you are to them, so Cynthia hadn't thrown her. Well, hadn't thrown her much. So after a few minutes of deep breathing and calming thoughts, she exited the filing room with what she hoped was a confident smile. However, she spluttered to an ungraceful stop as her eyes connected with the most deviously gorgeous man she had ever had the pleasure of laying her eyes upon. His eyes were every hue of the forest, rimmed coolly with moss. Their lightness reminded Faith of summertime, when the sunrays warm each extended leaf. Next to the shade of his hair, the deepest chocolate brown, almost black, he was alive in the same way birds are, casually wild. His other features were just as mind-blowingly perfect, with icy pale skin that somehow radiated warmth, sharp angular cheekbones, a smoothly curved nose a

Ch-31

Faith could not believe it was Friday already! Her first week of work had totally flown by, leaving her wondering what day it was most of the time. She had a concrete relationship with Nancy, and also became friends with Ben and Andi, two of the vets. She didn't get on very well with Cynthia. The mean older lady didn't like Faith at all, and made it clear every time she spoke. Faith often caught Cynthia observing her with those cold emotionless eyes, setting her on edge and making her adrenaline kick in. It was safe to say Faith felt less then comfortable around the bitter woman. She always found a way to insult Faith, even though she thought she was doing well considering it was only her first week of work. Apart from Cynthia, everything was going unusually well for Faith. Even her sister had settled into school perfectly, which was a miracle considering she was nearly expelled from her last one.Today she was excited to finally meet the head of the organisation, and essentially the

Ch-32

William, like any other person, has a hot and cold relationship with his father. Although he looks up to him, and knows that he is, simply put, a rather brilliant man, he is also very tormenting and usually the cause of William's biggest headaches. As soon as Sir Hartley rapped on his suite's golden doors, he knew it was because his father had summoned him. Groaning in dismay, William turns away from the speech he was preparing for the Annual Banquet in a few weeks' time, and dwindles to the door, digging his heels in to prolong the time he has before he has to rush to his great father. "Morning William, how're you?" Sir Hartley addresses him once he pushes the door open, with a cheeky grin on his face. Sir Keegan Hartley has been William's closest friend and advisor for the past five years. They met under rather... unfortunate circumstances, but William made sure Keegan was cared for and brought him into his world for protection. Ever since then they just seemed to click, and got on

Ch-33

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Faith was bored out of her mind. She had run out of work to do, and was simply watching the clock go round and round, searching for some sort of amusement. Most of the vets had been on a training day out of the office, and they had not received many clients making it extra boring. Faith had already rearranged the filing cabinet twice, trying to kill some time and stay out of Cynthia's way. Unfortunately, Nancy was off sick, leaving her without a chatterbox to waste hours of time away. But finally, the clock was rolling onto six. Just fourteen minutes and twenty-three seconds left, before she went home to an empty house (Hope was staying with friends) and had a quiet evening. What could possibly go wrong? After all, it was just another boring Monday. It sounds weird but Faith was sure she... smelt William earlier, his manly and fresh cologne that made her feel as though she was breathing for the first time. However, she had looked around and couldn't find him.

Ch-34

Faith's hands shake uncontrollably as she wanders up to the door of the vet. Inside nothing has changed; it's the same lobby, same people, same pictures... but something is different. It somehow is not as bright as it was before... well, before. Gulping nervously Faith stumbles towards her desk, feeling like a fragile piece of china and slightly sick. This is it... the place of her nightmares. Surely it was just a dream, but Faith could not shake the feeling that something had changed... nothing was the same now. She was more acute to her surroundings, seeing and hearing things she had never done before. "Ah Faith how're you feeling?" Faith jumps out of her skin as one of the vets, Andi, greets her. "Whoa, you're jumpy aren't you? Well it's not a surprise considering... Anyway, are you sure you're feeling ok? You don't need to talk to anyone? You look pretty pale and tired." Andi frowns. "I... I'm much better. Just in a jumpy mood." Faith mumbles cautiously. "That's good to hear, i

Ch-35

"Ugh, hurry up!" Faith sighed desperately, well aware that she was very late to meet her boyfriend. The frustration and embarrassment of being exceedingly late was really getting to her, a permanent frown stamped on her face causing deep creases to curl between her brows. Her frustrations are all because of an insufferable guy with beautiful green eyes, and the ridiculous traffic. How she wished she could simply snap her fingers and teleport her body to her chosen destination! Although she wasn't sure she would want to go to the bar. She'd never really gone to one before, calling a zoo to have a party in her stomach, and alcohol didn't taste all that pleasant to her. Coffee was her chosen concoction."Oh, this is just ridiculous." She hisses under her breath, holding the steering wheel in a punishing grip.Faith was so close to the pub... yet so far. She was literally seven minutes away according to the satnav, but because of the vexatious traffic, it would probably take her another t

Ch-36

William was busy pacing the length of the vast dining room, a deep frown set into his features. He wondered what was wrong with him. Just last week a vampire spun out of control and attacked a human... Faith. Hunters that seek for the destruction of all vampires are cutting off 80% of the coven's blood supply, trying to starve the vampires out and catch them attacking a human, forcing the government to authorise their destruction. William wasn't sure what to do; the situation was getting pretty dire. He was lucky to be able to cover up the attack, otherwise his family, his friends and his people would all be hunted down until every last one was obliterated. One of the most important rules in order to ensure the survival and secrecy of the vampire race is the law that states any human who finds out about their existence must be killed. Faith should be dead... but William couldn't do it. As soon as he heard her terrified screams something primal broke out from within him, willing to do

Ch-37

Faith's eyes fluttered open, momentarily blinded as they encountered a golden sunbeam shining directly through a small gap in the curtains warming her body. Shutting her eyes again, she lets out a moan as she stretches her long legs and buries herself further into the soft surface, loving the comforting, addictive scent it radiates. She feels light and free, and a small smile graces her lips as she realises how safe she feels. But then she starts to rise from her half-dazed state, and remembers that the window in her bedroom is west facing, meaning she is never awakened by the sun. Her eyes snap open and she pushes her body up, wondering with alarm where she is. She nearly jumps out of her skin when she sees William watching her lazily from an armchair across the room, an adoring look on his face.Faith gasps as the memories from the previous night crash full force back into her memory, leaving her shocked, alarmed and embarrassed all at the same time. Remembering the way she actually

Ch-38

Immediately Faith breaks out into boisterous laughter. What the hell is William talking about? He must be joking, right? Vampires? The boy must be pulling my leg, or be plain crazy! Faith thought to herself. She flushes red and disguises her laugh as a cough when she notices William looking at her seriously though, his lips set into a grim line. Worry swirled within Faith as she wondered if William needed to be checked into the nearest asylum."W-what do you mean? That-that's impossible... you're a human, you must be." Faith stutters.William lets out a harsh chuckle, guarded anger making his eyes three shades darker, glinting menacingly. Faith gulps, leaning back a little."Would a human be able to do this?" He scoffed, before speeding around the room faster then light.Faith stopped breathing. She jumped, letting out a petrified yelp as William stopped right in front of her, a firm hand planted on each arm of the chair she was sat on, towering above her. Faith shrinks back, feeling

Ch-39

Emotionlessly Faith followed the silent guards, secretly wondering whether they were leading her to the executioner's room. But what could she do? She stupidly followed a stupid boy into a stupid dark tunnel, and now she was probably going to die. Faith felt she deserved a big sign pointing to her head reading 'STUPID' and all of its synonyms. William had left her on her own with two strange men probably craving her blood after dropping the bomb of the century on her. She felt as though her rose coloured glasses had been ripped off, and considering her life was no picnic before says a lot. Taking into account William's unnatural speed, she couldn't run from the guards, and anyway how on earth was she going to get out? She was quite literally buried under the surface, and with no windows to jump from or exit signs leading the way; she was stuck in the lion's den.Suddenly the guards came to a halt, the bulkier of the two opening a door leading into a dark room. He switched the light on
