Chapter 11: The mysterious Man

"Order up!" Edward yelled while ringing the bell.I laid down the rag I had been using to wipe the same spot for five minutes and went to get the food tray. It was a quiet day today. At least a couple of older people have been dining in, dedicated only to them, since morning. These fewer movements make me think about Killian. I was trying to find ways to keep myself busy, so I can't think about Killian, who has yet to contact me. This situation is painfully hurting me. Where did he go, and what is he doing? Those questions filled my head up, and I couldn't find an answer. "Here you go," I smiled, setting the plates in front of an elderly couple. "Can I get you anything else?""No, thank you, sweetie," the woman said kindly. "We have everything we need," she added.I nodded at them both before turning away to return to the counter. I sighed once I reached my destination and propped myself on my elbow. I glance around the place, seeing if anyone needs anything before realizing everyon

Chapter 12: Better than alone and doing nothing

"Rain, I went home today. Something came up that needed my attention." It was a message from Erix. Oh, come to think of it. Erix and I agreed that we'd have a movie marathon tonight since the next day is my day off. Well, it can't be helped, Erix is an alpha, and he still has some responsibility to the pack he left behind. I sat down in the crowded club with Aira while she was chatting with a stranger. Now that my plans with Erix were canceled, I don't have any valid reason for Aira to decline her invitation. And now I'm stuck in this club. Aira is another friend, aside from being a classmate and a co-worker. And she once belonged to a pack before she decided to run away and leave in this neutral town for good. I knew Aira loved entertaining humans, but she also told me it was just for the time being until she met her mate. She doesn't want a serious relationship to avoid complications in the future. So in the meantime, she's dragging me anytime she knows I'm not doing anything. It

Chapter 13: Confusion

"K-Kilian?" I was surprised. I wasn't expecting him to come, especially during this wee hour of dawn."Why do you seem so shocked? Did you expect that I would never notice your nightlife? You even smell like those douchebags called humans. Did you have fun?" Killian asks before standing up and closing the distance between us. "It's not what you think. My friend and I had a few drinks. Nothing else," I explained to him, trying to calm him down. His eyes started to darken as a sign of his wolf taking over his body. I don't know why he was angry. I should be. Where is his heart leaving his mate behind, not even telling him where he did go? Is that how mates are supposed to be? "You are supposed to stay here and wait for me. Why don't you follow that rule?" Killian said, growling. Killian tightened his arms around the waist and was about to do something, but I placed my hands on his chest to stop him. "You know, you are blinded by anger. Let's talk about this when you calm down," I

Chapter 14: The Long wait will be over

Erix started to avoid me when he learned that my mate was Killian. I don't know if he does this on purpose, but he's avoiding me. And it all started with him learning Killian is my mate.Lately, when I went home after work, he would approach me and invite me to his house for dinner or a late-night snack. "Erix seems not at home tonight, too," my wolf commented when I glanced at Erix's home. "Seems like he is avoiding us.""I know. That's why I wanted to talk to Erix if there's something between him and Killian." "Maybe we have to wait for a chance to catch him."I woke up early so I could catch Erix during his morning run. Bingo, I saw him running all sweaty coming towards his home. I got up and ran to block his way. I need to confront him. It's now or never. "Good morning, Erix. Care to chat a bit?" I smiled at him. "Morning'' he said under his breath as he wiped his sweat using the helm of his sweatshirt. "Want to have a coffee at my house?" I purposely invited him so I could

Chapter 15: The Trespasser

Erix disappeared in the next few days. He told me something happened in his pack that needed his attention. And since Matthew gave me a break from working nonstop, I decided to crash at Zander's house. Killian hasn't come since Isabelle's labor, and I feel lonely. Kaila took the empty plate before me and carried it to the sink. She had been cleaning all morning, and she was not about to stop now. I felt she would have taken my plate whether I was done. You'd think she was expecting a king over for dinner with how she's acting. Not a part of this house had been untouched by her. She was washing the dishes when Zander finally made his appearance. "Sissy," he greeted me. "It's been a while," he added, walking towards Kaila and kissing her. According to Kaila, Zander had been going nonstop all day running errands for the Alpha. I was starting to get worried because he looked worn out, and the bags in his eyes were visible. Zander had to have aged five years since I last saw him. He o

Chapter 16: Figuring it out

I found myself inside the former Alpha's house. How did I get here? I don't exactly know. After I got myself out of my former house, two warriors had been expecting me. "Alpha Killian has instructed us to take you to his old house for interrogation," Marcus told me. He was my former classmate during high school and is now one of the warriors in our pack. I arched my brow. "What for?" I asked him. "Just follow us. Alpha Killian will attend you after the meeting," he replied. I felt annoyed but obligated. "Shift," he commanded. This man is getting on my nerves, but I don't want to create another commotion. I'm not usually like this, but I have been in a bad mood since Killian is with Isabelle again. I shifted into my wolf, not minding if I tore the dress in the process. And when we reached the house just a few meters from the pack house, Marcus gave me a pair of shorts and an oversized shirt. "Get inside and wait until Alpha's arrival," he said before closing the door. I shif

Chapter 17: The Lies and Betrayal

The past few days were excruciating. Killian hasn't contacted me nor decided to check on me. He still needs to give me the result of his promise. And it's provoking me to be angrier at him. It has been a couple of weeks, and the more I wait, the more I become agitated. Even my wolf grew impatient. There would be a time when I wanted to go to the pack and confront Isabelle myself. I wanted to tell her that I was Killian's mate and she was not needed anymore. I knew Killian would not like it, so I restrained myself and waited.I often wondered if Isabelle knew Killian's mate, and I'm sure something about Killian changed. She should be suspecting something different about him.Ugh. It's too exhausting to think and to wait. And then there's someone who has been looking out for me..It was Marcus. Killian probably didn't trust me, so he sent Marcus to check on me. Erix knew this, so we only communicated through messages and calls. He understands me, and I am grateful for that. "Rain,"

Chapter 18: Rejection

I lost the very reason for me to live. Not only did Killian break my heart and bond, but Killian also took the life out of me. I want to die and be at peace. I bit my lips to stop myself from crying. When will this suffering end? Before I knew it, it was nightfall again. I could hear the owls in the woods outside my house, better in the dark. I often fell asleep to their sounds. It is the only thing that can help me sleep. It was like a melody only for me. I slept soundly for most of the night. I only woke up to the sound of the wind howling through or when the rain picked up heavily on the roof. I wasn't sure when the rain started, but it was soothing nonetheless. I like it more of a quit pitter patter though. When the day came again, I was awake and greeted by another painful realization that I was only alive to endure the pain alone. I want to die. I badly want to die. I hate the thought of waking up every day and missing some part of me that I used to have, my wolf. There was

Chapter 19: Alpha Erix

Erix's Point of View"Thank you for bringing my sister to us, Alpha Erix," Zander said, full of sadness. "She's my friend, and I'm sorry for what happened," I told him before handing him the unconscious Rain."I understand, Alpha," he smiled, although the smile didn't reach his ears. "I can't face Rain when she wakes up," his mate told Zander. "All along, I was praising Isabelle for how good Luna she would be to Rain. I should have known," she added, crying. "It's not your fault. You don't know the situation. And I'm sure Rain will understand," Zander said, calming his mate before leaving. "Do you think she can survive the rejection?" ask my wolf as we watch the two leaving with Rain. "Let's hope she can. We barely survived when Isabelle rejected us.""I like her. Her wolf is someone independent, just like her human. Make sure to continue the plan. If it's not her, then I won't accept any other she-wolf," my wolf said before disappearing. It wasn't my plan to meet Killian's mate

Chapter 20: Be his Second Mate

Ah, why am I still alive? I was supposed to die when I jumped off the cliff. Why am I at the hospital? "Why did you take me here?" I asked Erix, who was staring at me. "Why did you save me?" I surprised myself when I spoke. Those were the first words I spoke since that day, and they happened to be him. My voice came out strained since it had been months since I said anything, but he didn't seem to pay that much attention. "Because Zander is worried about you.""Did you know about my plan to kill myself?" "I know something like what you did will happen, so I have kept my eye on you since that day.""Why care? You could just let me die in peace," I told him, not even sparing a glance at him. He was the one who urged my mate to end things with me. There was evidence of Killian's betrayal, but I can talk with him and possibly beg to break up with Isabelle."I want to talk to you," he said. "Leave me alone," I told him. He didn't move. He keeps staring at me in a way that starts to
