99-Little Miss Delusional 002

EUDORA. I looked at the painting again, trying to find out what it was I needed to see. I knew nothing about art. I’ve always been inclined towards the sciences and once, before my life took a different turn, I dreamed of being a nurse, studying at a human school like Conan did. So, none of this made sense. What exactly was I supposed to know about a painting when everything about it could be some twisted form of art? I dunno, artists display weird things all the time and call it art. I would not be surprised if the huge smudge I was looking at on the painting was a part of Leticia’s art. I shook my head again, “I don’t understand what’s going on, it’s just a painting.” Leticia stepped forward slowly, her eyes were exceptionally soft as if she was trying to show they she didn’t mean any harm. Why would he need to do that? “Eudora, it’s okay. You don’t have to tell the truth now.” Her voice was just as soft.I frowned. What was she saying? What truth? “Truth? What truth? I don’t

100-The Secret Space.

EUDORA.“That witch!” Zena raved the moment we were alone in my room. She paced up and down my room while I hugged my knees to myself where I sat on my bed. I was frozen in place, numb all over and no matter how hard I tried to stop myself, I couldn’t stop thinking about Alpha Rex’s words over and over again. The distrust, anger and hatred in his eyes that I never thought I’d see again were what broke me repeatedly. I shouldn’t be surprised, Alpha Rex has said and gotten away with worse but I was truly shocked and that was how I knew he was right to think I expected something to shift between us after that day.It was the only moment between us when we didn’t need to share words. When I didn’t need to draw him out of a nightmare. It was a moment that felt like I saw all of him—the parts that proved he was just like every other male and had deeply rooted desires that were unlocked by my heat—and he saw all of me, literally. “Are you really just going to sit there and say nothing?” Ze

101-Like The Lantana.

EUDORA. Alpha Rex was at the breakfast table the next day, which was weird and unexpected since I haven’t seen much of him until yesterday when he lashed out at me. I was the last one to join them at the table and before I walked over to them, I tried to study Alpha Rex’s figure to be sure he wasn’t as mad as he was yesterday. Since he was seated at the far end of the table, I could only see the side of his face and that wasn’t enough for me to gauge what emotions he was feeling at that moment. Leticia sat by him on the left side of the dining table,of course, dressed like she was at a fancy restaurant and eating a full course meal. Zena sat by the right and I joined her, slowly settling myself down beside her. I quietly muttered a good morning that earned me a gentle smile from Leticia. The smile seemed to rub off on me the wrong way because no matter how gentle it seems, I felt mocked and betrayed. Zena seemed to be thinking the exact thing because she did a silent dramatic gag

102–The Journal.

EUDORABesides worrying that I was too big for the ladder and I could possibly break it, I was fine joining Zena climbing up into the secret opening. She tugged the latch by the ladder and it rolled back up, shutting the opening with us inside the rooftop of the greenhouse. No wonder the greenhouse looked weird on the outside. It was because the roof was made out of something that wasn’t glass, a weird way to build a greenhouse but I soon realized why it was like that when I looked around the tiny yet cozy space on the rooftop. The greenhouse was truly a font as Zena had said. There were no lights or bulbs. The only source of light was the moon, casting its beam through the only window of the rooftop and causing everything in the space to be nothing but shadows. Zena flipped a switch and the room brightened up. The LED lights were hung up from one corner of the roof to another and they switched colors momentarily. Red, Blue, Green and bright whites that gave me a clear view of the

103–A world carved in ink.

ALPHA REXPAST♣️♣️♣️“Rex, do you want to help mummy grow some flowers?” I was in my room, playing with my toys when I heard my mother say that. She was standing by the opened door of my room, peering down at me with a bright smile on her face. I stood on my small feet instantly, tossing my toys away and racing over to her. She hugged me from where I reached by her legs. Since I noticed the shift in the atmosphere of our home, especially between my parents as my illness became the basis of all of their arguments, I took every opportunity to be with my mother. “C’mon, let’s go.”She held my little hands in hers and led me out of the house. We reached a big glass house that I saw some pack workers building a few weeks ago. Then, I didn’t understand what they were making and even now, I still didn’t know but it was complete and probably meant something to my mother because of the way her eyes brightened at the sight of it.“Are we going to plant the flowers here?” I asked innocently.

104-Entry 001<The Journal>

L’s POV*THURSDAY, 4th of April**Mason’s birthday.” “The candles are melting, Luna.” Mason’s first word was Luna. While other pups in their first few years started out saying “Dada” or “mama”, my brother’s first word as a baby was my name and even though he didn’t get it correctly, it stuck and he never outgrew it. I remember the first time he said it, I was in the kitchen, cooking us a meal from what was left of the foodstuff in our house and he had fallen on his face while trying to come to me.He’d cried the name repeatedly as I came to his aid. I didn’t understand until later that the word that left his mouth was the version of my name that he could say. I tried to correct him repeatedly but he never budged. It became his personal nickname for me. Now he was celebrating his twelfth birthday and my baby brother was just the same, only a little apprehensive because of the waiting he had to do.His small birthday cake that I’d whipped up quickly that morning before going to work

105-Drunken apparitions.

EUDORA.“You’re hiding something, aren’t you?” I paled and snapped my head up from a random book I was reading on Zena’s bed. She was perched in the middle of her bed, her brows raised skeptically. “Hm?” I thinned my lips. “You’re hiding something.”I heard her the first time. I was just hit by the suddenness of her question when all we’ve been doing was reading and exchanging a few words. However, I couldn’t deny the fact that I could barely focus on the book I was reading and only pretended to be so immersed in it so I wouldn’t have to look at Zena and have her tell something was wrong without even seeing me.“No, of course not.” I finally answered after a few seconds of contemplating what the best answer to give Zena would be. I tried to keep my voice steady and also forced a smile. She didn’t seem convinced as her expression still doesn’t change.“I don’t believe you.” She said.I tried to be as convincing as I could, giving her my full attention. “Why? What do you think I’m h

106–Drunken Care

EUDORA. Time seemed to still for a second or maybe more. I wasn’t even counting. I couldn’t. Not with the body that was weighing down on mine and the way my thought was spiraling around how it was possible for him to be there. When I finally snapped out of it, I pushed him off me and he landed on the floor with a loud thud. My palm flew to my mouth in horror, maybe because I didn’t expect him to just roll to the ground like that like a sack of potatoes. Horrified, I nudged his body with my foot, keeping a reasonable distance in case things went sideways. “Alpha Rex.” I called, still maintaining the much needed distance between us. I nudged him once, twice and the third time, he rolled over and I jumped back. A loud snore erupted from his lips. He reeked of alcohol and passed out cold on the floor of the room. I let out a sigh of relief when I realized he wasn’t conscious. That was the only time I was able to gather my thoughts. I needed to think it through to be able to understa

107-Bleak Memories.

ALPHA REXPAST♣️♣️♣️I was dying…again.Fighting for air on the bed I was strapped to. Sweating profusely and seeing my miserable life flash before my eyes. How many times has it been now? Was it the fifth time? I couldn’t tell. I already lost count of the number of times I’ve been close to dying after the first time it happened. All I knew was that each time is always worse than the last, so horrible that I hoped for death instead of the torture I was subjected to.Yes, I hoped for death. It was strange because I didn’t want to die just yet, not without finding out the secrets that were more important to my mother than I was but as it happened frequently, I hoped for death more and more. As always, the damned scientist wasn’t there. Whenever this happens, he is never around and the times he is, he would only watch me, doing absolutely nothing until I can finally breathe again. It suddenly began to feel like it was intentional. Like he was testing how far I could go and how strong

108-The closer the Evil.

ALPHA REX. Till I travelled down to the borders of my pack, I strongly believed Logan was mistaken. It was the most bizarre news I’ve heard and I needed to see for myself. Logan was already waiting at the borders with a few of my men, including Tyrone. They showed their respect as soon as they saw me but I pushed past them, not wanting to waste another second. Logan followed closely behind me as I trudged forward, going past the fog that protects my pack and stepping onto the other side of it. The body laid there on the ground and the familiar wrinkled face of Alpha Tauren was a bluish-purple—undoubtedly a sign of death—like his arms and legs that were exposed. He was dressed in an evening robe and his legs were bare so I knew he couldn’t have walked here. His eyes were wide open and they were a lifeless sea of grey. Flies played about his exposed body parts, some going in and out of his mouth that was also wide open. The body emitted a scent that aired the fact that he’s been dea
