Lianna sits on the floor while she grades some papers. She hates grading papers and she can tell that the students did not do their research properly. William is still busy in the kitchen. She chuckles whenever he sighs or clashes the pots together. If it fails, she can always order pizza.“Okay, I think dinner is ready,” he says, unsure of himself. Lianna places the papers on the coffee table before she gets up. She watches William take the plates from the cupboard along with knives and forks.How did he know where it is?He gestures for her to sit, and she takes her seat. “Thank you, uncle. Bye.” Lianna waves to Uncle Dean as he enters his own apartment. Maeve has already left a bit earlier to get back home before it is too dark. John stands next to the island while he waits for Lianna. She closes the door with a sigh and lifts herself onto the counter.William is in the bedroom, talking to his mother over the phone. Rose has been calling almost every evening. Lianna can tell it irritates William. After every call, he is more tense than usual. She looks at her dad and he has a warm smile. She smiles back at him.“How are things?”“Interesting.” Her dad nods and holds his hand out for her to take. He squeezes her hand when she takes his hand.“I just came to check-in. How are you feeling about the weekend?” Lianna frowns.“Uh, it’s just a weekend. I don’t have to work this weekend. What do you mean?” she asks, confused by the question. “Everyone, please. Can I get your attention,” Rose calls everyone from the living room. Everyone walks closer, some staying on the patio while others stand in the living room. “Thank you all for coming. The dinner is ready. You can take a seat at the dining table. This way,” she says and walks to the large dining room. This looks like those dining rooms in the Mafia movies.“Wow, look at this room,” Lianna whispers to William. He nods as he looks at the room. He has never looked at the house like this. Even though he has many memories of growing up here, the house still feels empty.Lianna rushes to sit next to Bianca. She walks to William and stops next to him, leaning closer to hear what is playing. William is fast asleep, so she will have to keep her voice down. She walks back to the sofa, stepping on the sofa. She opens the large window above the window. William slowly opens his eyes. Is that music? He cannot believe someone would play music this early. He stares up at the roof while he processes the nightmare. He was doing good with the nightmares until last night.The early morning sun shines through the window onto the bed. He stretches his arms above his head and yawns.The music continues.He shoots up, and his eyes dart around the room. A beautiful voice echoes in his ears. He turns his head to the sofa where he sees a movement.His hands lift to his ears, feeling the earphones. He realizes that the music comes from the earphones.Why does he have Lianna’s earphones? He glances at Lianna’s side of the bed. She must have moved to the sofa after he fell asleep on the bed. He throws his legs off the bed and unlocks his phone.It is already 07:46. He should get dressed and head down for breakfast. He removes the other earphone and pauses the song. Her battery is below 10 percent. He plugs her phone in before he walks to the sofa.Lia
