Prologue

KYRA’S POVMy feet dug on the gray earth, shooting pains up my legs. I couldn’t stop because there was no way to stop. Everywhere looked like one giant cubicle, even though I was in the middle of the woods.I had no idea where I was going, all I knew was that I had to go to the surface, I needed to see the plain area and not the forestry.“Run, Kyra, Run!” My wolf urged me and it propelled me, creating a false sense of emergency. I jumped over a thick log of wood in my haste.I was about to trip, but her voice came again, and I somehow made myself run faster than before, my heart panting wildly. This time, I said the word, ‘Run’ with my wolf and it propelled me forward, and then I tripped as three figures surrounded me, cackling like maniacs. My first instinct was to run but I've already done that and it didn't turn out well.“Cindy is gonna love this,” one of the figures said, giggling. The three girls dragged me by my hair as they pulled me roughly from the ground.“Please!” I whi

KYRA’S POV“Stop!” I cried.Cindy barely did as I asked, she used her claws on me while claiming I was sent to disrupt the pack, and she would never let me succeed. I tried my best to stop her from hurting me, but she was ruthless.“You are nothing but a snake, and I must destroy you,” she said with complete hate.I gasped, and tried my best to push her away from me. But, she pushed me instead. Her hands dug into her coat, and she brought out the sledgehammer from nowhere. I gasped in horror, I wasn’t expecting that at all. I felt at a loss on what to do.She lifted the sledge hammer, aiming it at my face. As a reflex, I covered my face with my hands. The hit never happened. “What do you think you’re doing?” That voice...I lowered my hands and watched as the Alpha’s son, Blake held Cindy’s hands. He had literally saved my life. Why was I remembering all these things? It would be better if I forgot them. It didn’t help me at all, and I hated how it made me feel… unwanted. I didn’t w

FIVE YEARS LATERKYRA’S POVIt was exactly 9 pm.It was the D-day. I was 18 today. The big 18 meant a lot to me. It meant freedom, and I would finally have my wolf. I couldn’t sit tight. I’d barely eaten all day out of excitement. I couldn’t wait for things to actually change for good. It would give me immense joy.Having my wolf automatically meant having a mate. I hoped he wasn’t from the Blood Moon Pack. I hoped so because he would serve as my freedom from all this chaos. I would have a shot at happiness then.I stepped out of my tiny room, and sneaked out of the pack house through the backdoor. The wind was brutal that night, and the moon was a piercing white. It was the full moon. I couldn’t help the smile that touched my face.I was going to enjoy every bit of this. These people would not be able to mock me anymore after this night. I would be truly free. I’m positive that the moon goddess would help me as she has always done.I ran through the back towards the hills. Alpha Hade

KYRA’S POVWe stared at each other for an awful amount of time. I almost thought that everything was coming to an end. My life was literally coming to an end. How could Blake be my mate?“Kyra?” He queried, stunned.I stared at him, at a loss on what to say. He said something under his breath. I watched him morosely as he looked around, like he wanted to be sure that no-one was at hair’s breadth.“Come with me,” he demanded.I swallowed. “Why should I come with you?”He gave me a look. “Because I said so. You have no room to talk to me that way. Do you understand?”I swallowed hard. “But, I’m your mate.”Blake looked heavenward. “I said, you should come with me,” he snapped.A shiver rocked through me. This wasn’t how I wanted my night to go. I had no idea what he would do to me.Was he going to accept me or not? I couldn’t help but look at his broad back as we walked through the corridor, and down the path leading to the garden. The moonlight was so bright as always. And, for a minut

KYRA’S POVI tried hard to sleep. I honestly did. But, it seemed like small pins were piercing through my heart in ways I couldn’t describe. Oh, moon goddess! What did I do to deserve this?I shot out of bed as quickly as I had gotten in. I had to talk to Blake again. I couldn’t just take all he said like that. It hurts so hard when he kisses someone else.If he didn’t want me, it would be best for him to reject me. I wasn’t so strong that I would bear this pain continuously. I grabbed one of my coats, and walked out of the room, repeatedly heating my heart in a bid to stop the pain I felt. The house was so quiet, save for the occasional sound of winds crashing through the trees. Maybe I should go back? No, it won’t be scary. Maybe that’s why I didn’t get my wolf due to my incessant fear. I will have to learn how to be bolder. With that thought in mind, I walked through the hall, and into the main suites. I was about to step outside, but the sounds of pure arousal greeted my ears.I m

KYRA'S POV In the darkness of the room, I sat and tears ran freely down my face. I didn't know which room I had run into because I was in a hurry to get out of sight. The broken pitcher was still out there and it was enough that they didn’t know how the pitcher broke or who was there. It would have been worse for me if they found out I was there.More tears flowed and my heart almost gave out. I tried much to control the sobs; I guess they were getting louder by the moment. I didn’t care if it gave out my location. After a long time of crying, I felt the weight lift from my chest and my sobbing subsided. It was while I was sniffing in the tears that were left that I noticed where I was.I had run into one of the store rooms. The moon was at its brightest as its rays poured through the window, on a large pile of wheat on the far side of the wall.Almost every other thing was in the dark. Many of the wheat was stored in bags but I didn’t know why the ones on the ground were left where

At first it was blurry, and then it became clear. The singing was still there. The face I saw had arching eyebrows and a serious look. The eyes were small and round like almonds, the skin was the color of a freshly powdered face. Then the singing stopped and the face came closer to mine, almost touching it. “She is awake now.” This person shouted to someone I was not seeing, someone who must be sitting away from me. I saw the hair, full, wavy and unrestrained. It had the color of leaves in the fall. My eyes looked around. There was the ceiling made of wood, and I tried to move my head but I couldn’t. It seemed to me it was stiff, held by some unseen factor. I made to get up but pain racked through my head like lightning; I fell backwards.“You had a concussion. You should rest. Or are you in a hurry to go somewhere?”I didn’t say a thing. She took her face away and continued singing. The song was piercing and sad and spoke of a long lost country, more like my story. I listened in qu

Kyra's POV My heart skipped a bit as I pondered on what was to be done. I knew I couldn't allow herself be found there by Blake, most especially and neither could I try to leave. I was stuck and had to come up with something as swiftly as possible. I wouldn't want to be used as a sacrificial lamb fur anyone. Just as I was still trying process what to do, the door to the room flung open, revealing both men with broad shoulders and heavily built chest. I felt my heart jump out of my heart and I knew I was done for. "Yes, and what are you looking for here?". Blake's thick and baritone voice seeped through to me, causing me to shiver but I managed to gather myself immediately. I straightened myself, cleared my throat and then began. "I was on my way to fetch some water when the jar fell and broke into pieces sir. I didn't mean to bother or disrupt your conversation sir," I muttered and hoped they would believe me. Well, they didn't have any Reason not to believe me. I mean, it was

Cindy's POVAs I raced out of the room to meet Blake, only one thought filled my mind and that was happiness. I felt so happy even though I had not the slightest idea what he wanted to talk about. I was hoping it was something interesting and not one that would dash my hopes, but from the looks on his face, I could tell that it wasn't something sad he was about bti share with me. Few seconds later, I was standing in front of him with a wide grin like a child who was given some candy. "You look so excited? Why?" He inquired, puffing my cheeks. I blushed at his pull and muttered some words in objection to it even though I loved it."You! You make me happy and the smile on your face tells me that I have to be happy, so what's the News? Go on and share it quickly,' I hastened him up as curiosity got the better of me. I fiddled with my palm, waiting for him to speak up. When he finally did, he cleared his throat and stared up at me."Would you like me to share something with you?""Yes,

BLAKE'S POVI was shocked at my father's word and couldn't hide it one bit. I also couldn't understand why he wanted me to him in search of her instead of sending out one of his commanders. "Does he perhaps suspect me? And why can't he just let her go. It would be so nice if she isn't here anymore." I said to myself with a sulking face than I'm sure he must have noticed."Alright dad. I'll do as you say," I mutter and dashed out of the room, dragging my feet as I went. I sighed, staring into oblivion. My head turned around in search of one of the commanders who were always in sight, wanting to see my father for one reason or the other but there were none. I was a bit disappointed. It was going to be a really stressful day ahead but there was nothing I could do. I couldn't go against my father's instructions. Luckily for me, I found two soldiers standing by the side of the building, gesticulating widely like that was the job they were appointed to carry out. I was pissed and Couldn't k
