Both women paused, their heads swiveling in unison as they scanned the concrete expanse, searching for the source of the intrusive noise. Elise's hands landed on her hips, her patience already wearing thin. "Where on earth is that damn phone ringing?" she demanded, her voice sharp with irritation.
