The Final End of the Interrogation
This was all too real and yet unreal at the same time to Tara. The male wolf shifters were the most powerful in the city and Cal was in the next room torturing information from the she-wolves who’d made her life miserable for so many years. Tara didn’t know if she should be cheering him on, yelling at him to stop, or running away in fear. One look at the door showed there was no way out. Jaxon barred it with his body as he watched the four wolves torture answers out of the two she-wolves. Tara wanted to beg them just to answer the questions promptly because each time one of them hesitated, they were both cut a little more in punishment. He didn’t put them in chains or make them kneel. He just cut them or bruised them. At one point Guy picked up a crowbar and broke Debra’s shin bone when she mouthed off to Cal. Guy gave no warning. He just swung at her. Blood was slowly dripping from the various cuts. It would take them days or weeks to heal from these

Hard to Take Than She Thought
This side of Cal was something Tara was not prepared for. In her mind, he was demanding and possessive. He could be jealous and even hurtful if someone didn’t respond the way he expected. Recently, she’d seen him as a provider, giving people what they needed, not necessarily what they wanted. That, she’d realized, was what linked some of his more negative traits to his positive ones. He wasn’t selfish; it was how he presented how he saw people in his world. He’d never actually hurt anyone before this. This was a side of Cal Tara was worried about. How often did this side of him come out? Was it often? Or rarely? The other alpha’s attitude was it was the darker side of the job. Was it? She’d not seen him take pleasure in hurting Lynn and Debra, but they were so broken in just an hour. There to be told he’d made them drink wolfsbane. He’d not told someone else to do it. He’d done it himself as a sentence. Both women knew what it was, and they’d barely proteste

The How and the Why
Rachel found Tara and Jaxon at the bar with a half finished bottle of liqueur between them. She’d heard what went on and hadn’t approved of it. But it was too late now. “I’m afraid I need to interrupt this little gathering because right now there’s a lineup of people outside your office that’s interrupting the flow of people in and out of the kitchen, Tara. Can you come and see what you can do for them? Several people are becoming upset at the sudden wait to see you.” Rachel’s hands were full. The line up of people outside Tara’s office was interrupting the flow of traffic to and from the kitchen. The pack finally understood that she’s not just the alpha’s latest flavour of the week, so to speak. She’s here and wants to do her job. They needed this badly. Especially now after the shocking surprise attack. Rachel prayed no one would blame Tara as the cause for the attack. Because the truth is that they were being attacked long before Tara or Eddie entered the

Tara's Office Hours
Tara watched Rachel leave her office. Okay, she could do this. All she needed to do was take her time, listen to what they had to say, and respond in a nice way to what they have to say. People were allowed their opinions, and they never stopped her before this. A woman stepped into the office after some time had passed. “Hi, come in. Our Beta’s been ordered to keep an eye on me while Alpha Nichols is dealing with some things. I hope that won’t affect our meeting.” “Oh, yeah… I mean no, it won’t be an issue.” “Great, come have a seat then and we’ll get started.” Tara awkwardly gestured to the visitor’s chairs before her desk. Jaxon was in the far corner by the electric fireplace, listening and watching the entire meeting in silence. “So, what have you come to say today? How can I help? You know, let’s start with your name and go from there.” “Oh, right, Janet? Janet Hazes. I, uh… came here today because I’m concerned about what’s going on a

Going After Elmwood
With everyone ready for battle, and more than a little warmed up. Cal and the others from the Toronto Council of Alphas agreed time was of the essence. They needed to get Elmwood in custody or dead. Those were the only options for Elmwood and what was left of his pack. The Ruling Council made sure the paperwork was fast tracked. If the humans had a problem with this, then the paper trail was there, and NARC would take the heat rather than the Toronto Council of Alphas. The Alphas were pretty much there to bear witness again to the fact that justice was done properly and no one innocent took the punishment who wasn’t named in the writ. The last part irked Cal to no end. This was personal for him. The scum did some many things that affected Cal’s pack and mate on a personal level he was itching to rip Elmwood apart limb from limb. Just tear into him until there was no way to identify him except by DNA.That’s why the other alphas were there. To rein him in and make sure that he di

Going in Search of the Fight
“How are we supposed to observe anything if we’re stuck out here with the humans? Shouldn’t we be in there to ensure everything goes as planned?” Cal finally said after everything he’d done today to get this far. He felt like the Ruling Council was neutering him. “I agree. Anything could happen in there and it appears like we’ve got some serious over kill in numbers. With everyone standing around here like this. Eli, this is your territory and even the Ruling Council can’t say a thing if you decide to go in there.” “What you say is true. This is my pack’s land, and that scum is hiding out in my territory without my leave. I say we go in there and find out what crap this fool thinks he’s pulling. Also, it would be nice to know exactly how the Ruling Council is interfering with what happens in my territory.” An alpha’s territory was, in fact, the pack’s territory. It was one and the same and some alpha’s like Eli used the terms almost interchangeably. To mess wit

Finding Evidence of the Battle
“I only hear fighting. I thought they planned to come in here and haul them out after negotiating with them.” Gregory didn’t look happy. Clearly, whatever was going on wasn’t what he’d been briefed on, and he’d ensure heads rolled later when this was all done. “Yeah, well, it sounds like plans changed and something didn’t go how they expected. Eli’s probably correct about this being planned by someone with a few more brain cells than Elmwood. He’s an old codger with old ideas full of greed and selfishness.” Cal wasn’t sure where he was going with this, but he felt the need to confide in this wolf. He was one of those who didn’t make snap decisions and looked at the reasoning behind everything from the angle of the people who had to live through it and beyond it. “I received the Ruling Council’s file on him. I’m still trying to figure out how he conned anyone into following him. He’d do anything to get what he wanted, and he’s an honour less dog.” Cal was ple

An Outside View and Opinion
Tara finally got to the end of the line of wolves at her office door. Most of the issues were odd to say the least, but they affected these people’s lives, she guessed. Then there were a few wolves that came into her office, and she noticed how uncomfortable they were with Jaxon in the room. One tried to let her know she could talk to them at anytime about anything. Now she was wondering about what they were hinting at. Did they think she was in trouble somehow? Or did they think Cal was angry with her and she should expect him to punish her for yet another thing? Well, that would probably change once this was all over.Once Alpha Elmwood and the rogues were dealt with, she’d find out what’s truly going on in Cal’s mind where it concerned her. Every time something changed around them, his rules would change, and she figured that would happen again. “I think that’s everyone. You can relax now.” Jaxon said when he entered again and returned t

A Mess Discovered
Cal and the wolves with him finally found where the fight was happening on one of the upper floors. It was insane to see the enclosed fighting. This brought back memories of the battles between NARC and the Liche’s patchwork monstrosities. That was horrific. Cal and his enforcers were there, but so were so many others. Now, NARC enforcer teams were made up of different species of supernatural creatures. This was in response to a need that war brought forward. The Fae here were used to managing groups of a single supernatural species. Like wolf shifters or mages. A coterie of vampires, or a coven of druids. Another thing the Fae would not expect was the dragon shifter in their midst. It was bloody, and that wasn’t good. Some Fae had acidic or poisonous blood. Others spit or bit with venom. The Fae always coated their claws within this stuff, or so Cal learned when it became obvious that the Fae were back. The Fae and the discovery of the creation of Lycans by illegal means by

The Cleanup Begins
The NARC enforcers came out of the building with two Fae captives, and the Toronto Alphas waited for assistance from the vampiric enforcers of NARC to come in and figure out if either the mages or druids could recover the shifters within the basement storage room. There were eleven wolf shifters caged within the room. The Fae forced them into their fur and fixed shifter silver collars on them. They know by how the collars were fashioned that they could only have been placed there by the Fae. The Fae used their magic to form the collars around the shifters’ throats. There were no joins, latches, or locks. Intricate designs told a story of who owned the wolf and their place within their army. In the end, the Vampires forced Elmwood and those with him back within the room so that they could come in and tranquilize them. Every single one wouldn’t or couldn’t calm down. Nor did they respond to reasoning or words. It was like they’d been turned into guard
