CHAPTER 30~ FIRST DAY OF TRAINING

The path back to the cottage was not something Verya looked forward to. It was a long way, far from the pack house, but that was one thing Verya liked about it. She didn’t have to deal with the disrespect she’d receive constantly at the pack house, and she didn’t have to compete with Jake either… She liked the distant it gave her away from the people who didn’t like her and the closeness it gave her to Sathe…perhaps that’s why she didn’t detest the long walk she had to take. It was a small price to pay for the happiness the little house gave her. She didn’t remember much about her mom, but the fact that she used to live there gave Verya a sense of peace. However, along with that peace came a longing that Verya didn’t know she had. She wished she could remember something significant about the past, about her mom, however she couldn’t, and dad refused to tell her the cause of the war that took her away from Verya. It was unfair, but it was her fault for forgetting. Sighing, Verya shif

CHAPTER 31~ A WEAKNESS

Verya picked up the blouse she had left by the lake, throwing it over her shoulder. The material was dampened by the wet grass it had been on, it smelled like sweat, something she was so familiar with, however there was a scent nearby that she wasn’t at all acquainted with. She knew what specie it belonged to, but the fact that it was so close was what she didn’t understand. A fae trespassing on werewolf land? There must be one reason for such a calamity…and she knew just what it was… Verya moved away from the lake, finding solid grounds instead of the slippery grass. It was here to fight and even if it wasn’t, it deserved death for trespassing on her father’s land without permission. Faes weren’t friends to werewolves, especially when it came to her father…her father hated them since one had been the root cause of his mate’s death… And for that, Verya hated them too. Verya’s eyes searched the dark premises, not finding it on low grounds. Her eyes shifted up and even before she coul

CHAPTER 32~ SAVED

“You weren’t built for war, were you? How can you look into your enemy’s eyes and ask for help? I’m not going to help her or you either…I was sent to kill her, but a witness can’t be left alive, right? I’m killing you too.”She took an arrow from her back, situating it into the bow. “She seemed capable, I don’t know why she risked her life to save you, but it was a foolish decision, you’re nothing important…you’re weaker than a child.”Sathe’s breaths got heavier as he tried his best to calm down. Something inside of him was raging, it felt like there was fire in his chest, a presence that could burn him wholly…It felt like there was something aching to come out, someone even more angry about Verya’s state than him.“You’re just her mate’s brother…but isn’t it good that none of you will miss each other…? All three of you will be burning in hell tonight…together.”Sathe didn’t quite get it…all three? Was Aron in danger too? And in hell…?‘If anybody was going to rot in hell tonight…it’

CHAPTER 33~ BANDAGED UP

Verya groaned as pain awakened her…her shoulder felt empty, but that was probably because the arrow that had been in it was in someone else's hand. She still felt dizzy, but her vision was a bit more stabilized; she could see that she was in a hospital room and the scent was as atrocious as ever. There was one person in the room apart from her; an obvious doctor. He was standing above her, still holding the pointed arrow in his hand. “I see I’ve woken you up.” Verya groaned as she tried to sit up, but the man pushed her back down. “Stay put.” “Why…Why am I here?” “You were targeted, a fae came after you and then you were rushed here.” “A fae…?” The memories of what Verya couldn’t even call a battle flashed before her eyes, but she could only worry about one thing or rather one person. “Sathe! Where’s Sathe?” “Sathe…?” The doctor looked down at her cluelessly, finally placing the arrow down and taking up some cotton instead. “I’m not sure who’s that, but you can go find them after

CHAPTER 34~ SEPARATED

“Sathe…?” Sathe looked at her, taking a step back. “V-Verya…?” “Yeah?” She stepped outside, closing the door behind her. “I was just coming to see you…are you alright?” “I…I…” He took yet another step away from her, turning his face in another direction. “I-I came to s-say goodbye…I’m leaving…I…bye.” “What? You’re leaving? All of a sudden? Did my father say something to you?” Sathe shook his head. “I-I don’t belong here…I’m going back…back to where I belong.” “Sathe what….what is wrong with you? Are you having mood swings or something? We were okay just tonight…where the f*ck is all this coming from?” She stepped closer to him, sighing out in frustration. “I swear to god your head works different from the norm…communicate Sathe…at least tell me why exactly you want to leave…Did I do something wrong?” “No, I…” The hospital door was shoved open and both Verya and Sathe watched as Aron stepped through it. He smiled as he walked towards them. “Love at its finest…didn’t you know lo

CHAPTER 35~ A HELPING HAND

Verya sighed as she stood to her feet. She didn’t want to be one of those stupid and possessive alphas, but how could she really sit and let Sathe leave? She knew he said he didn’t want to stay anymore, but there must be a way to persuade him. She didn’t understand what had gotten into him, if it wasn’t father, then was it her?Verya started on her feet, she was still weak, but she still managed to clumsily run back to the cottage in the forest…his scent was strongest there…but…but it wasn’t strong enough. He wasn’t there, was he? Verya turned towards the woods not too far from the house…he…did he really leave? Her steps wavered as she walked over to the tall bushes…how could he just leave? How could Sathe really leave…? She had heard his words, but she didn’t think he had the courage to put them into action. She thought she’d come back here and find him waiting for her by the porch or on the sofa, but he wasn’t there…he had been serious and she hadn’t even known it. Why?That’s what

CHAPTER 36~ A PIECE OF MEAT

Verya sat by a tree in a completely unknown forest, feasting on the meat Jake had hunted. She didn’t know why her arch enemy was helping her and why he had become like a dog at her beck and call, but she didn’t have anybody else to turn to right now. She wasn’t particularly grateful, but his efforts weren’t particularly unappreciated either. “Aron and Ethan have been trailing us for a while now…” Verya nodded. “I know, Aron will always be annoying…I would kill him, but I can’t in this state.” “Should I?” “What?” Jake shook his head. “Never mind, forget what I said.” He took a bite out of the meat he had in hand. “Should I leave them food?” “No, we should only cater for Ethan…Aron is not a member of our pack…” “Alright, I’ll mindlink him then.” “And tell him what?” “That he looks f*cking hideous hiding behind that tree.” Verya chuckled. “Do it.” Jake nodded, opening a link between Ethan and him. ‘Come out, you f*cking goat.’ ‘W-What…? How did you know I was here?’ ‘Do you t

CHAPTER 37~ SUCH A CALAMITY

Sathe looked down at his bloody body with a sick smile on his lips. He didn’t know why, but the fact that the blood on his bare skin was for once not his gave him a sense of superiority. The voice was rumbling in his head, dark and alluring, nothing he was afraid of, and the dead bodies he stepped on as he walked out of a havoc he created pleased him greatly. He felt powerful…like a monster…a beast…but wasn’t that what he was? Sathe’s smile grew even wider, his eyes drifting towards a fae who was pitifully trying to crawl away. Her body was soaked in the blood that fed the earth, her heavy breaths the only thing that dragged on into the night. He walked over to her, pressing his foot into her back. “And where do you think you’re going?” “Please…I beg you…d-don’t kill me.” A chuckle, one with not an ounce of humour drifted up his throat. “Please…? Should I really not kill you? Beg some more and I’ll consider leaving you alive.” “Please…” She turned to stare at him, her face just

CHAPTER 38~ SAVE HER

Verya pocketed her hands as she continued into the woods. The sun was rising, and though she didn’t sleep much through the night, her steps were energetic, and her eyes wide open. Jake, Ethan and Aron were walking in front of her…all three were unwanted company, but the more help, the better, right? Sighing, her eyes drifted through the bushes with a sad gleam in them. She missed Sathe…it had been two days of searching now and she couldn’t pick up a trace of him. Would he really not return to her? And did she have the right to look for him when he left willingly? He said he didn’t want to stay anymore, what would she tell him when she found him? That he should come back to a place that he didn’t want to be? What if he refused to listen to her…? What if it all ended with a rejection? Verya was so scared and confused right now, she didn’t know what to do and why this was happening, she was completely lost…but she knew one thing and it was that she wouldn’t let him go without a proper

CHAPTER 39~ A SCARED CHILD

As the fae said, the cave wasn’t far, it was at the very bottom of the mountain, dark and quiet. Jake was the first to step inside and Verya followed him hesitantly, leaving Aron and Ethan behind.Inside was almost beyond her werewolf eyes, she could barely see anything. There were just rocks, rocks and dirt. “You think she’s here?”“I know she is…she’s scared…she wouldn’t come out. I smell her too.”Verya nodded, she smelled something too, the stench of a creature she didn’t really like, but despite that, it was pitiful. It was almost impossible to not sympathize on the current situation, especially since it happened because of her.Sighing, her eyes darted around, spotting a slight movement behind a rock in the corner of the cave. She grabbed Jake’s arm, gesturing towards it. “I-I think she’s here.”Jake stopped, looking towards the rock. “Come out.”A harsh breath dragged on in the silence but there was no further movement. Jake stepped towards the rock, but stepped back when someo
