Chapter 31: Joining Forces

Antonio's P.O.V~24 hours before~Calling upon my allies was the easy part of our plan, but once they arrived on my pack lands, I had the hard part of trying to convince them to join the fight. A few of my close allies, like Alpha Brantley of New York, Alpha Williams of St. Louis, and Alpha Phillip of Nashville, were the first to come to my aid without questions. They had my back on many occasions, as I had theirs. When they learned that the situation involved my mate being taken, they were angry. It didn't matter that my mate was not normal. The laws of the Moon Goddess prohibit werewolves from getting in between mates. Though, what was hard was convincing the others; there was a mix of emotions because no one wanted to cross the inner circle or council as they liked to call themselves.I never understood why some of the Alpha's were so scared of these older men. They were betas, for heaven's sake, and as an Alpha, we outpowered them. Perhaps tradition just made it hard for people to

Chapter 32: Betrayal of a Friend

Alyssa's P.O.V.~1 Hour Before~Peering across the hedge line, I watched guards walking along the walls, keeping an eye for intruders. I knew that with my distance, they wouldn't be able to sense me from where I was at now, but as soon as I got closer, they would know I was there. The massive building was a beautiful sight to see, but knowing that my best friend was being held captive inside broke me. I knew the others could see the pain in my eyes every time Clarissa's name was mentioned, but she was like my sister. How did everyone expect me to be okay with everything? Shaking my head, I whistled over at Antonio, grabbing his attention. His massive towering form crouched towards me and peered towards the building in front of us."The walls are heavily guarded, and I can tell that they have at least twenty men patrolling the grounds outside of the walls. It is going to be difficult to go unnoticed, but do you think you can handle it?"Antonio smirked at my remark before a look of dete

Chapter 33: Cabin in the Woods

Clarissa's P.O.V.The dim light of morning shined through the open window, and as I opened my eyes, I watched the dust particles dancing within the ray of light that touched the wall. I couldn't help but lay within the safety of the blankets and think about everything that had transpired over the last few months.Pain radiated through my body as my body tried to rid itself of the toxins that had been pumped into me while I was captive. Brantley had been so sweet to take care of me until I could be united back with Antonio.Groaning, I managed to slowly sit up and sling my legs over the edge of the bed. My head spun as I steadied myself, slowly standing to my feet. Why couldn't I be normal? The question constantly plagued my thoughts, and I couldn't stop it. I wasn't like the rest of them. I was a quiet, reserved girl with a creative mind. I wasn't made for a world of blood and chaos, and I didn't know if I had it in me to be a leader. All the confidence I once held was shattered when m

Chapter 34: Useless

Clarissa's P.O.V.Days began to turn into a week, and I had yet to hear anything from my mate. Antonio still had not come for me, and the worry within me was growing by the day.Brantley kept reassuring me that Antonio was okay, but that he was taking care of other issues, making things safe for me to come home. He said that Antonio found others that were part of the council's scheme to hurt me and that he wanted to rid them from our lives before allowing me back into our home.I could understand that, but what I didn't understand was why Antonio didn't tell me those things himself. It was all very frustrating, and part of me was hurt by Antonio's actions. For some reason, I had also still not completely healed. I moved around at an average pace, but physically I was drained and unable to reach out to Antonio in our bond. Not being able to sleep for the last two nights, I had awoken early this morning, intending to try to learn more about what I could do.Brantley had suggested we cou

Chapter 35: Letter from an Alpha

Clarissa's P.O.V.Brantley kicked my ass with all the workouts he was putting me through. I couldn't begin to understand why squats were important in training, but if he had me do one more, I was pretty sure my legs would fall off.I stood in the shower for what seemed forever, allowing the hot water to run over my sore muscles. I couldn't remember the last time a shower had felt so amazing, and then again, I couldn't remember the last time I worked out. Shortly after our training session, Brantley ran to town to grab a few supplies, and I welcomed his leave to have time for myself to relax. The shower was the only way I knew to find solace and comfort, and man, this shower did the trick."Clarissa!" I heard my name being called from the other room, and I groaned in disapproval.Turning off the shower, I wrapped a towel around me. "What?" I hollered, unsure of why he would interrupt me during my meditation, a.k.a shower time. "When you finish, come out here. I have something for you.

How is my pack supposed to follow and trust in me when I questioned who I was?"Antonio." Joseph had been persistent in checking on me, and in my absence, was t

Chapter 37: Redemption

Antonio's P.O.V.Looking at Phillip and Joseph, I was speechless.Leah made sense. Everything she said made sense. As if the pain had reappeared, I gripped my chest, slowly rubbing it. The ghostly pain I had felt from Clarissa was as if my heart was being ripped out. What if what Leah said was true? What if Clarissa's heart was breaking because Brantley said something to break her?How was I supposed to show her that I was still there and keep her from breaking our bond, if that was even possible? "Leah, if you want to redeem yourself, then stay and help bring Clarissa home. I know that you both don't like each other, but she is my mate and your Luna. We need to save her before she is hurt."Leah nodded her head and slowly made her way towards Thomas. Thomas wrapped his arm around his mate, and the love and concern he held in his eyes for her broke my heart. That is what I wanted. To wrap my arms around Clarissa and never let her go. "So, another idea," Leah whispered. Sighing, I g

Chapter 38: Blinded by Lies

Clarissa's P.O.V.It had been two days since I had read the letter Antonio had left me, and it never ceased to amaze me how sweet Brantley was. He did everything he could to take my mind of how hurt I was and even helped grow my powers. Like right now, I was slowly learning that I could move faster than my mind could comprehend.I felt the air around me swarming, and the cool breeze kissed me like a welcome friend. Brantley's intense gaze watched me from the porch as I used the surrounding wind to move the cloth dummy about fifty feet from where I stood. My daggers, swinging to hit the targets as he had shown."Good job, Clarissa," Brantley said as he clapped in approval. Sweat glistened my skin, and I couldn't help but smile at how well I was improving. "Well, I had an amazing teacher." Brantley walked towards me, admiring the damage I had produced on the dummy, and smiled. "You are getting better and better. Not even experienced warriors can grasp the maneuvers you have accomplishe

Chapter 39: Back to the Den

Antonio's P.O.V.I smelt them before I could see them, and Zeus was mad and in a frenzy as he howled in anger, running towards where their scent led. Joseph and Thomas were hot on my tail as we rushed through the wooded area towards my mate and their Luna. All I wanted to do was to rip Brantley apart, and I would as soon as I saw him. He would face our wrath as my teeth tore through his skin like butter. The thought of savoring the taste of his blood made the hunger of my wolf grow.As we came into a clearing, I watched the vehicle peel out of the drive, and I didn't hesitate to smash into the vehicle, hoping to throw it off the road. I had to stop them, no matter what. The boys joined me as we rushed after the car.Thomas was hitting the back end, causing the vehicle to swerve slightly as it sped on further. I was much faster than Thomas and Joseph, but eventually, the car was too fast for me, and I watched it disappear off the dirt road and onto the main highway.Shifting back, I fis

Chapter 40: Honesty

Clarissa's P.O.V.Weightless, that was how I felt. Hands gripping my body as my head is tilted back and my eyes flutter open to see the eyes of my father. His wicked grin sent shivers through to my soul.It was at that moment that I realized my situation differed from before. I was in an all-white room with a bed sitting in its center. The room reminded me of a sterile room at a hospital for someone with an immune disorder. Confusion was clear on my face as he stood walking towards me."Welcome, my sweet daughter.""Don't pull the caring father act. I told you what would happen the next time I saw you." Trying to move my body, I realized I was being held back, and as I gazed up, I saw the eyes of Tanto. I had wondered what had happened to the giant, and he seemed unfazed by the fact he was holding me."Oh, but I am a caring father. Soon enough, hopefully, I will be a caring grandfather." The word grandfather whipped my gaze back to his as I tried to figure out what game he was playing.
