Chapter 31: What Are We?

Sabrina's POVAtlas has fallen asleep with his face against the cool glass of the window during the drive to my apartment. I asked Brett to keep the music low as not to disturb him, and I spend most of the time looking out the window, wondering how I'm going to explain to Dylan why my boss is in our place at four in the morning.Atlas keeps mumbling in his sleep, but I can't make out what he's saying. Every few minutes I look over at him to make sure he hasn't vomited on himself. I'm sure Brett wouldn't appreciate a mess on the back seat. When the car comes to a stop out the front of the apartment building, Atlas doesn't move a muscle. Getting him inside quietly isn't going to be an easy task.Brett opens my door for me and offers to help get Atlas upstairs. It takes a lot of strength and maneuvering but we manage to haul Atlas to the front door. He wakes up when I get my keys out to open the front door. He looks around the hallway, confused as to where he is."Thanks so much for

Chapter 32: The Next Morning

Sabrina's POVThe sun shines in through the gap in the curtains, landing right in my eyes. I groan, trying to roll away from the bright light. I reach my hand out across the bed, searching for a familiar warm body. I frown when I don't find it.I rub the sleep out of my eyes and slowly sit up. I wonder what time it is because I could've been asleep for a couple of hours or maybe it's the afternoon. When I retrieve my phone from the bedside table, my heart drops. It's two in the afternoon and I've completely missed my alarm for work.Panic begins to fill my body as I jump out of bed and search the messy floor for a sweatshirt. The bed is completely empty, which means Atlas must've left sometime this morning. I rush out into the living room where the smell of bacon hits me.Atlas is standing over a saucepan at the oven and there is a big pile of eggs and bacon in the middle of the dining table. When he hears me enter, he looks over his shoulder to give me a warm smile.I try to of

Chapter 33: Good for One Thing

Sabrina's POVIt's been several weeks since I slept in my bed with Atlas. He hasn't mentioned it in conversation to me, but I think about it every night before I go to sleep. He's been acting pretty casual about the whole thing which makes me think he remembers more about that night than he's letting on.Atlas is still flirty with me in the office, which is something I don't mind. We have been spending a lot of time working on a new idea for a prototype after the launch of the home security ring last week was a massive hit. Amber managed to remake the missing piece in time for the launch and it was a success.Investors are very interested in the product and think it's going to make EarthX a lot of money. The marketing team is already planning out ideas for how to promote it when it's ready to sell. Everything is moving so quickly, but it's exciting. I'm so happy for Atlas. But now, we have to come up with an even better idea to top it. We've been brainstorming for weeks but have

Chapter 34: Another Leak

Atlas's POV"You're fired."Jane looks at me with wide eyes, her lips turned down. I can't gauge her reaction at first because she doesn't move a muscle or say a single word. She just stares at me with blank eyes. It's as if she snaps herself out of a trance because she looks between Sabrina and me. I fold my arms across my chest and hold my ground. After the way Jane was speaking to Sabrina, I never want to see her face in my office again."You're firing me?" Jane finally says.I nod my head, "Ever since Sabrina started working here, you have been nothing but cruel and nasty towards her. Just because I don't see everything firsthand, doesn't mean I don't know what's going on in my office."Jane's eyebrows turn down into a frown, "I see what this is. You're just trying to protect your little girlfriend and the fact that you two are in a secret relationship. Don't think for a second that I don't know what's happening here.""I don't know what you're talking about, Jane," My voic

Chapter 35: Can't Be Her

Sabrina's POVIt's been twenty minutes since Atlas got the phone call in the breakroom. I couldn't quite understand the topic of conversation because the call didn't last long. When I tried to ask him what had happened, he ignored me and walked into his office. He's been sitting at his desk with his head in his hands, not saying a single word this whole time. I followed him in here and sat quietly in the chair across from him, awkwardly looking around the room while I wait for him to speak. Atlas hasn't moved a single muscle or spoken to me. I'm beginning to worry that the phone call was some bad news he is trying to process. Today has just been a cluster f*ck. First, Jane got fired because she is literally insane. Second, I asked Atlas how he felt about me, and he totally blew me off. Third, Atlas got a phone call that has sent him spiraling. Could today get any worse?Atlas leans back in his seat and groans, looking at me with sad eyes. I sit straight in my seat and anxiously

Chapter 36: A Proper Date

Sabrina's POVIt's been a week since Atlas said he has feelings for me. The thought of it makes me all giddy inside and I can't wipe away the smile that spreads across my cheeks. He didn't elaborate any more than that because the phone rang on my desk, so I had to get back to work. When I told Dylan, he was so excited for me, but also wasn't surprised. Since day one he knew something was going to happen between Atlas and me , and up until last week he didn't know that we had kissed twice. When I first met Atlas in the coffee shop, it was like I had known him all my life. There was something so familiar about him, especially his eyes, that kept drawing me in every single time he would smile or say my name. There's something special about him that makes me want to get closer to him, to know every single detail about him and to make amazing memories together.I've been home from work for about an hour when my phone rings. Dylan is sitting next to me on the couch, and when he sees At

Chapter 37: Courted by a Billionaire

Sabrina's POVIt's finally Saturday night and the sun is beginning to set low in the distance. The sky is a marble pattern of pink, orange and red, creating a beautiful painting high above. Thankfully, the weather isn't too cold now that we're coming out of winter. The evening is already off to a good start.Atlas texted me this morning to say he will be picking me up at six, but again, declined to let me know where he'll be taking me. I have been nervous and jittery all day. Dylan has been watching movies with me to take my mind off the date, but it was no use. I was constantly overthinking everything and praying nothing goes wrong.I've been sitting on my bed, dressed and ready to go, since about four this afternoon. It didn't take me long to apply minimal make up and straighten my hair, so I've just been sitting on my bed watching videos on my phone while I wait for Atlas to arrive.Dylan has a date of his own tonight with a guy he met on an online dating app. I think seeing m

Chapter 38: Official but Secret

Sabrina's POVIt's only an hour later when the plane begins to descend into Norfolk Domestic Airport. Atlas and I spent the time having a drink and talking about work related things. I wanted to keep the topic of conversation on something easier because starting the date by asking about his darkest secrets wouldn't be a good idea.Once we get through the airport, there is a limo waiting for us by the curb. Atlas helps me in and twenty minutes later we're pulling up to a beachside restaurant. Atlas walks around to my side to help me out and we walk inside. I wait by the door while Atlas asks about his table booking. The restaurant is quite boujie and elegant, with many of the people wearing cocktail dresses and suits. I look down at what I'm wearing and instantly feel undressed. I try not to overthink my outfit because in my defense I had no idea what we would be doing tonight.A waitress shows us to our table that is located out on the deck facing the ocean. The wind is warm, and

Chapter 39: Let's Get Away

Sabrina's POVAtlas and I have been dating for about a month now. We're taking things slow at the moment because we started out working together, we need to learn how to keep our work and personal lives separate while we get to know each other better. The past two weekends, I have invited Atlas to stay at my apartment with me. He and Dylan get on like a house on fire, that sometimes I think they should be the ones dating. We like to spend our Saturday nights drinking and playing card games. Since Atlas has started staying over, he's really gotten into the spirit of how Dylan and I do things. It's a different experience seeing Atlas act so casual considering I mostly see him acting professional. It's like he is two different people sometimes. It's a Saturday night, and Atlas and I are sitting out on the balcony enjoying a glass of wine and a delicious platter of cheese and crackers. It's an unusually warm evening, so we wanted to get out and enjoy it before the weather turns cold

Chapter 40: Memory Lane

Sabrina's POVWe're awake early for the three-and-a-half-hour-long drive to Canton. I was restless last night because I'm so excited to finally be going back, even though it's only for one night. My brain was constantly thinking about all the fun things we can do together and mapping out our two days there.Atlas still seems uncomfortable with the idea, but I know he's making an effort because he knows it'll make me happy. I've spent the week trying to figure out why he seems so unsure about this road trip, but I can never put my finger on anything definitive.I was surprised when Atlas got to my apartment last night driving a Jeep with a retractable roof. He must've looked up what road trips look like and saw heaps of photos of families driving around in Jeeps. It's not a realistic image of what road trips are like, but I must applaud him for the effort. It's six in the morning and we just finished packing the car with our overnight bags and snacks for the road. Dylan told us no
