Chapter 10

Even though I'm drowsy and exhausted, I make an effort to stay awake and keep an eye on what's going on around me. I don't know what's going on, but the next thing I knew, the two men who were trying to undress me were no longer holding me in place. They were now kneeling in front of several other men while guns were pointed at their heads. "What the fuck is this that you are doing to her?" One of the men, struggling to speak, then said, "B-boss, we have nothing against you. We were just seeking the woman, wanting to have fun with her and nothing else. We don't want to get ourselves into a fight here with all of you." I once more closed my eyes, attempting to calm my racing heartbeat while listening to the ruckus going on around me. "Assholes! Who in their right mind told you that you could do something like this on my turf?" The authoritative voice yelled once more. It is obvious that that is not my mate's voice. But even though I am unable to figure out who it was, the voice still

Chapter 10.1

"I guess it conflicts with what you were really claiming to tell us before, that you weren't interested in having to be involved with her again and would rather let her walk away from us." Quen got started with his rant at Blaze, who continued to be in a state of contemplation since they had come back together with the woman in discussion, and this time he won't be stopped. Continuing to utter the words, "Look at that, you wanted for her to end up wherever she needed to be without our help, but out of nowhere here she is, in our territory again, and, if I may say, well taken care of and, presumably, peacefully sleeping by now. What is really your plan with her, then? Why do you feel the need to bring her here again when you clearly told us to let her be on her own?"Even though he can clearly hear what Quen is saying, Blaze has decided to stay silent since he is uncertain of what prompted him to carry out the steps he did or why he helped her again at this point in time. He was the o

Chapter 11

Several knocks on the door jolted me as I was trying to think of my next move. I do not yet have the courage to deal with the people who saved me after yet another wrong decision on my part, but I am aware that there is absolutely nothing I will be able to do at this point but to face them and their questioning. And I must really refrain from acting as though I am in danger with these people, even if my gut feeling is telling me so, especially considering that I know now that the person who actually saved me is a medical practitioner who saves lives and does not really end them.As the door opened, a sweet, friendly female voice spoke to me, "Hey, are you awake? Can I come in? I just wanted to check on you."She appeared to be the same woman who was wi

Chapter 12

Blaze is incensed by what Blythe told him and Quen, uttering the words, "At this point she wanted to continue her stay here? That is just absolute bullshit! After running away from us and nearly getting assaulted, she realized that she wanted to stay here now. Why is that? Does she think of us as her bodyguards, who would always be at her beck and call at every cry? That is just utter crap!" He had earlier sent his sister to keep tabs on the woman, who was never more than a source of concern for him; he had been checking on his unlikeable guest, but he realized he needed to create some space as the pull he has with her just keeps getting stronger for whatever reason. And now his sister has returned bearing awful information for him. And at the moment, what his sister is telling them is undoubtedly getting on his nerves. That woman wanted to stay with them, but of course, he doesn't want to allow that.

Chapter 13

While I waited for Blythe to come back, I continued to fiddle and feel anxious about everything. I know she'll be talking to them about the things we talked about, and I am not sure if I am even ready to hear their answers or not. And as much as I hate to admit it, I actually worry about what her brother might have to say when he hears about my request. Even without thinking deliberately, I have an uncanny sense that he'll boot me out of their house this instant. And why wouldn't he? From the onset, he doesn't seem to like me, but maybe because of his profession, he is inclined to provide help to an almost-dead woman like me. And I'm not only imagining what could be the worst-case scenario at this point; I'm also attempting to get myself geared up to deal with what's to come next for me once I leave their place. Other than that, I cannot hold it against them,

Chapter 14

Blaze has absolutely no plan to keep the woman in front of him on his territory. He did, however, assure his sister that he would have a conversation with their unlikely visitor and make a decision based on her responses. But in spite of what he had stated he would do, he had already made up his mind. She needs to leave, but before that, she needs to tell him everything she has been hiding from them. "What happened, princess? Isn't it a surprise that you are capable of speaking now? So you suddenly were able to talk to my dear sister after playing the mute card with all of us around here?" He kept on mocking the woman, who appeared to be making every effort to hide her feelings of panic. Blythe slapped his brother's arm and called out, "Blaze, cut it out. When you exert this kind of pressure on her, how can she say something at all?"

Chapter 15

"Hey, Snow, what the heck are you doing there again? I had told you that you didn't have to do that; you didn't need to do anything at all, and even Blaze told you that, didn't he? So why do you keep exhausting yourself around when there are actually a lot of other people who can do that?" Blythe continues to lecture Snow once more for being so stubborn and not really listening to her, as is usual for her. They are keeping her from working, but as always, Snow always does the exact opposite of what has been asked of her. "Blythe, don't try to lecture me again. I simply want to do something around here. I would rather not behave like I own the place."  "You don't consider yourself a servant around here, because we don't. You are our guests, and guests are not required to clean the house or serve us around her

Chapter 16

Eris' incessant rants and groans in my head were interfering with my train of thought. "Goodness, Snow! What the hell are you doing? Have you gone insane? Tell me that this is not actually happening and I'm just seeing things." Realizing exactly what she had been trying to get across, I responded by asking her, "What are you even talking about?" with a swift reply. "You appear to have a knack for noticing things in greater detail than a wolf would normally, Eris; therefore, you must be the one who is most certainly insane, not me." "We both are aware of what I saw you do, so don't try to capitalize on this against me," she called out. "You cannot argue with that fact, Snow, for we are one. I am you, and you are me." Simply due to the fact that I wasn't keen to start an entirely new dispute with her, I made the ch

Chapter 17

Snow felt shivers rush through her entire body as Blaze's voice echoed in her ears. "What are you doing here at this time? Where is Blythe, and why aren't you sleeping yet? You should be resting." Snow stutter-fumbled in her response as she took note of the man's concerned voice for her. "I was-," she began. Blaze repeated his query as he approached her, cutting her off with what she had to say: "You're what? What are you doing here at this hour when you should be drifting off to sleep and resting as we have been expecting from you?" Without giving it a whole lot of thought, she cried out, "I was waiting for you." And when she witnessed the response that her statement caused Blaze, she wanted to hit herself because of her foolishness again. Whenever the man is in front of her, she just loses herself in his stare.

Chapter 18

"Who is she? What's up with her? I meant to say, what's her connection with him? She seems to be the girlfriend of your brother, is she?" Snow asked the questions directly to Blythe since she couldn't stop herself from doing so, which caused her friend to look at her suspiciously. "Snow, I'm really confused as to what you are actually referring to. To whom are you even alluding when you say "she?" Blythe is completely oblivious to her friend's reactions and the sudden questions she fired at her, but she assumes that the two jerks have once again brought a woman into the house, and that is the reason for her to ask these things. Snow replied casually, "The woman who was here last night. You know, the one who kissed him in front of me. I don't even know if she left because I don't have plans to see them making out in front of me, so I made the conscious decisio
