Silver Agony

"I thought this night wouldn't get any better." Aidan said sarcastically, his eyes glowing with barely concealed anger. His father, once he saw who they were, began to Change from his wolf from to his human self. He walked forward, keeping a safe three meters between himself and his son."You have guts, son. Coming back here." Jacob said. His voice was cutting, but his eyes were calm with a hint of sadness. Lauren could tell that he was trying not to let the emotions get to him."After all that you've done, you shouldn't even think of coming back." He continued. "Release the women to me and go, and never come back again."Aidan on the other hand wasn't as calm as his father. He gripped Katherine convulsively and glowered. Lauren could feel the anger rolling off him in waves. "You're a fine one to talk." He growled."I never wanted to be like this." He continued, his voice quivering "I wanted to have a normal life, finish high school, go to college. And you ruined my life. I could have

Howl

"Fuck!" Beth screamed and kicked at the door. She was at Dr Makovsky's office door with Axel, her nerves severely frayed. They'd gotten to the door in order to fetch the manuscript for the werewolf antidote, only to find out that his office was under lock and key. She should have known. That manic doctor wouldn't leave his office open, not even if the building was on fire. She'd worked for him for years, she should have known what he would do."Fuck fuck fuck!" She swore angrily and hit the metal door. The door wasn't like any normal door. There was a doorknob in it, but no keyhole, which meant that it was opened or locked through some other means. Whatever. The door was locked, period. The hallway in which they stood was eerily empty. All the scientists that worked for Dr Makovsky had used the sacking of the science laboratory as an opportunity to escape, almost as if they'd been waiting for the opportunity. Only the security alarm still blaring and the sounds of battle outside coul

Anger

Lauren glared at her reflection in the mirror and raked her hands through her chestnut hair. She felt frustrated, hopeless and on edge, moreso because she had been waiting for Lia for hours. Dammit, where was the she-wolf when you needed her?She dropped her hands and picked up her phone to check the time, making a mental note to give the werewolf girl a good shaking when they meet. Her eyes immediately traveled to the metal band around her left wrist and she shook it experimentally, knowing it would do nothing. The band wouldn't break, no matter how many times she shook her wrist. She had tried everything from incessant pulling to screwdrivers and knives to even dipping her hand in the fireplace, hoping the thing would melt off but no luck. She'd suffered a first degree burn but it had healed pretty fast, which made her even more furious. She didn't want to heal if it meant the wretched band would still be on her wrist. She groaned and stood up from her vanity mirror and paced her ro

Funeral

They went to the burial site in Beth's van. Axel drove with Beth in the passenger seat and Lia, Lauren and Mike at the back. The journey was spent in relative silence, as they were all dreading the tears and howls they knew would happen at the funeral.Lauren was left in silence to think about everything that had happened in the past few weeks. She seemed to have grown several decades older since she'd first heard about the captured werewolf in the woods from Eric. So many things had happened since then, good and bad.Her heart lurched again as she thought of the first time she had seen Aidan: an injured lone wolf in a cage full of police dogs. Her heart had gone out to him since then. Now she knew that all that had been a ruse by him to get to to her, but it didn't stop her smiling with nostalgia as she thought of that time. She knew Aidan had gone through a lot since his father Bit him and left him for dead. Her own change had been better in every way; she'd had Beth and Axel to hel

Rabid

Lauren led Aidan to her cabin, a safe distance from the funeral site. The place was the same as the last time she'd been there, only that she'd left Aidan in the cabin and he had not locked the door. It swung open easily and she padded in with Aidan following suit. The sleeping bags they had used during the last full moon had been packed, most probably by Aidan. The floor was dusty and the corners were full of cobwebs from weeks of unuse. Lauren walked over to a threadbare sofa before the only window in the room and leaned forward to open the curtains. Then she turned and sat on the sofa, smiling at him."Come on." She said, patting the seat beside her "Come sit with me."He moved forward slowly and came to sit by her. She saw that he tried to leave a safe distance between them on the sofa and she moved forward, closing the space. She looked at his face and saw that he was looking at her with a terrified look. He looked trapped, like a deer before the headlights of a truck, about to b

Blackout

At some point mid-run she morphed into wolf, a terrified chestnut-coloured beast running through the forest like the wind. Somewhere in the corner of her mind that wasn't populated by fear she worried about what was happening at her cabin, if Aidan was fine. They were very similar emotions, worry and fear, and she soon she found herself scared that something would happen to him.Within minutes she found herself at the site of the funeral. She looked around frantically, but everyone was gone. The funeral seemed to have ended. The chairs had been packed and the black decorative drapes had been folded and put away. She snorted in frustration and turned her back on the funeral site, running towards her house on all fours. She got to the back lawn of her house that connected the house to the woods and stopped in front of the hedges for a moment. She looked behind her at the depth of the forest, it seemed to be full of suspicious, eerie movements. She shuddered, shaking her large brown wolf

Vertigo

Lauren felt herself being roughly shoved aside as the others reached her. She slipped to the damp grass, numb and unable to speak. A rushing noise had invaded her ears and she felt arms grab her and pull her close, but she barely noticed. All that was in her head was a recurring and frightful thought. Not Eric. Not Eric, please."Oh, God!" Beth said, her hands covering her mouth in shock.Mike stared into the distance, at the depths of the surrounding forest "Whoever did this couldn't have gone far. We'll go after him." He muttered and tapped Lia, indicating that she should follow him. They both ran into the forest in pursuit, morphing into wolves midway.Axel rushed to Eric's unmoving body and held him, cradling the boy's head in his hands. Lauren watched as his dreadlocks swept the grassy floor. His eyes were staring at the sky eerily, and his skin looked pale and bloodless. Axel placed an ear to the boy's chest and listened for a few seconds. Then he raised his head and looked at

Stitches And Kisses

Lauren staggered back in alarm, her hand grabbing the bedposts. "Do something." She yelled "Beth, fucking do something!" Beth rushed to Eric's side and bent over him, then after a few seconds, straightened up.Lauren stumbled forward with tears in her eyes, grabbing Beth's clothes "He's gonna die if you don't do something!""I'm not gonna die." Eric's voice came from the bed "Calm your horses, Sommers."Lauren turned so fast she was surprised she didn't keel over. "Eric? Eric!" She leaned forward and wrapped her arms around him, tears of gratitude falling from her eyes. "Ow! That's alright, Lauren. If this wound doesn't kill me, you will." "Shut up." Lauren said, releasing him and drying her tears."How do you feel? Hurt?""Yeah, duh." Eric replied. He blinked a couple of times and looked around "My glasses. Have you seen them?" He croaked.Beth hastily passed him his glasses which were cracked at the lens. He put them on and looked into Lauren's eyes, seeing the questions that lay

"I think you should go to bed now, Lauren. You've done enough." Beth told Lauren hastily as she and Axel lifted up the bleeding boy and placed him back on the bed.Lauren, with tears in her eyes, shook her head. "No! I'm not going anywhere!" She protested. She hovered around the door way till Aidan reached out and grabbed her shoulders, drawing her back. "Let's go to your room, Lauren." Aidan whispered in her ear. "Come on now. Beth and Axel will fix him up, I promise.""No!" Lauren screamed and freed herself from Aidan's grip. She ran forward and collapsed on the bed beside an unconscious Eric."Lauren!" Beth yelled at her, her eyes full of alarm. "Go to your room, now!"Aidan dragged her out of the room as she sobbed in despair. He led her to her room, opened the door and took her inside.Immediately they got there she collapsed on her bed and sobbed, her tears wetting the bed sheets."I know you feel like you're a terrible person but you're not. Peace

Mike walked into the kitchen, closely followed by Lia. The both of them settled down with a sigh on the kitchen chairs and closed their eyes. One could see the fatigue clearly etched on their faces.Beth, Axel, Aidan and Katherine waited patiently for them to regain their strength. After a few long minutes, Mike opened his eyes suddenly and looked around. "Where is Lauren?""Well..." Beth started, then looked around at the others for support. "She's asleep.""Okay." Mike said, eyeing all of them suspiciously. "You said you have news?" Axel prompted him. "We also have news but perhaps yours should come first.""Okay." Mike agreed, then sat up. "After we left Lauren and the half-dead boy on the lawn, we ran after the killer, right? We went into the woods and tried to sniff him out for a while. The night was moonless so it was quite harder than we thought. At a point I was ready to give up and turn back but Lia here kept me going." Lia opened her eyes, a little startled as her name was c
