Memories

Chapter 71Lucian smiled as he watched the raven haired beauty walk down the steps of Bernard hall. She did not see him yet. “Hey beautiful, do you need help getting around campus?”Lucian startled Arabella, she hadn’t expected him to be around the campus. Turning toward him, she could see the boy she once loved in the man he became.Arabella smiled, “What are you doing here Lucian?”“Ahhh, my beauty, that is not in the script. You are suppose to smile and let me buy you a cup of coffee. There are fireworks at the field tonight and I was wondering if you would go with me?”“Slow down, Lucian. Coffee first, we can discuss the fireworks later. Deal?”‘Deal, my Bella.” Lucian grinned from ear to ear as they walked toward the same coffee shop they visited years ago. It was amazing it was still standing.Arabella laughed so hard, her insides hurt. Lucian was telling her stories about some of his clients. Husband

Chapter 72Arabella busied herself in the kitchen rinsing dishes and placing them in the dishwasher. Her mind was not on what she was doing; it was far away with Lucian. Lucian jumped through hoops trying to remind Arabella about what they once had. Arabella was no longer interested in what once was and was getting excited about what could be now and in the future. She and Lucian were still young enough to enjoy the world and each other.Arabella was still smiling when the knock came to her door. Thinking it could only be Lucian at this time of the morning, she opened the door with a grin, ready to let him know where her heart was headed. It wasn’t Lucian.Arabella’s smile faded slightly. “Hello? Can I help you? Are you lost?” She asked the woman who stood in front of her.“I’m not sure,” she replied, “A

It’s Over

Chapter 73“You two need to get off my porch, off my mountain and I hope to never see you again Lucian.” Arabella’s heart shattered. Why did she do this to herself? Once again she started trusting an Alexander and look at what happened. She slammed the door in Lucian’s face before he could utter another word.Lucian’s face paled. What in god’s name happened here? He looked hard at the woman left standing on the porch. She gave him an innocent smile before moving off Arabella’s porch. Lucian was not about to follow her, he needed to talk to Arabella, to explain what seemed unexplainable.“If you go after her now, you will probably both say something you will regret. Maybe it would be a good idea to give your little girlfriend a break to pull herself together.” Scarlet’s voice held a hint of laughter which angered Lucian.“What are you doing here, Scarlet? I don’t hear from you in years and suddenly you pop up out of nowhere and you end up here of all places. What is your game Scarlet?”

Sanctuary

Chapter 74Arabella lay on her lounge chair by the ocean. The crystal blue waters helped to calm her battered heart. An umbrella shaded her face as she gazed out to sea. It was beautiful and calm here. Slowly the heat penetrated her skin causing a fine sheen to glisten on her body.Sinking into the heat, Arabella finally looked back on what brought her to Sanctuary. Lucian! That lying, cheating .. oh, that man. She could make him pay like she did with Adrian but Adrian’s sins were a lot worse than Lucian’s. Adrian destroyed good people, Lucian only hurt her that she knew of. What about this woman? Did he hurt her too. It was all too much to think about and she was here to rest not play mind games with herself.Breakfast was served on the wide veranda of the main house. Arabella smiled at the cook until she left Arabella alone. The cook felt she was too skinny and it was her job to fatten Arabella up. When Arabella first arrived she couldn’t eat anything, she was that torn up inside. B

Searching for Arabella

Chapter 75Lucian pounded his fist on Marcus’s desk. “What do you mean you can’t find her? You are suppose to be the best, Marcus. Do I need to find someone else to do it in your place instead?”“I wished it were that simple, Lucian.” Marcus replied to Lucian, “Listen, man, it’s as though she vanished off the face of the earth.”Lucian stopped pacing, ‘Was it possible Arabella was in that realm of hers. No, no, Sybil said no one knew where Arabella went.’There were no flights leaving Denver that had her on it. No trains, plains or rentals. All were negative. Arabella’s jeep stood out in the front lawn. It was dusty and dirty, so unlike Arabella. He wasn’t sure he knew who Arabella was. Maybe that was his mistake. He tried to make the woman fit the memory of the girl he once knew.Lucian lowered his voice. “I’m sorry, Marcus. That was uncalled for. I just don’t know what to do. She left angry and was likely to stay that way for a while. ONly Lucian and Jack knew how Arabella traveled.

Welcome to Santurary

Chapter 76Arabella was startled to find Lucian and Selene in her bedroom. 'By the Gods, what are they doing here?’ She didn’t say anything to either one as she headed to the bathroom to retrieve a towel. It was then that Lucian and Selene realized Arabella was soaking wet. Grabbing dry clothes, Arabella returned moments later.“What are you doing in my house and more importantly, in my bedroom?” Arabella spied the slip of paper in Lucian’s hand, reaching out quickly, she grabbed it. “You are going through my stuff? What is the matter with you Lucian? Have you stooped so low?”“I was worried about you. No one knew where you were. I was only trying to find you, Bella.”Arabella flinched at the sound of his pet name for her. Lucian did not seem to understand; they were not a couple. “You have no right, Lucian. Please leave my home immediately.”“Bella, please, let me explain. It’s not what you think.” Lucian was desperate. He was afraid Arabella would disappear again before he could clea

Winds of Change

Chapter 77Ella sat and listened to the news that was pouring in from all around the Realm. She sighed deeply. This should not have been this difficult. Yet here they were, listening to reports on the unrest that was sweeping the Realm. What would Mother have done about this?“ … and don’t even get me started on the imps that are running lose … ““Enough Sybil, please stop talking.” Ella was at her wits end. She was starting to realize that no matter how long she trained for this, Ella was not ready to rule after all. She wondered if anyone but Selene could rule this place. “Find Selene and request her presence as soon as possible.”Selene was not difficult to find. She remained at Arabella’s cabin and reveled in the quiet and peace this land provided for her. It felt good to not rule anyone but herself. The early morning sun caressed her face as a soft spring breeze fluttered her hair. Now this was heaven.“MOTHER!” Sybil suddenly popped in, her feet lightly touching on the veranda.

Thunder Roared

Chapter 78Lightening and thunder burst out of the sky causing the ground to tremble. The natives ran around as fast as they could, covering windows and herding the animals to enclosed pens. The comment was made by a few that they hadn’t seen this bad of weather, ever.Arabella stood on the surround around veranda as wind whipped her long skirt out behind her. It was exhilarating and frightening at the same time. Arabella never liked wind before because it was so destructive, but somehow, this was different.Lucian stood not inches away from Arabella not willing to close the distance just yet. It was, after all, his first day on this amazing island. He wanted to hold and protect Arabella but felt she would not appreciate it at this time. The storm was closer.“Bella? Don’t you think we shoul

Mother

Chapter 79Selene stood with her arms crossed. “It’s over, Ella. You have nothing left that I can’t stop. Do you understand me?”“I had one thing left that you could do nothing about, Selene. Check with your ‘daughter’ and see. That’s right, I know Arabella Brennan is your true daughter. After a while, things don’t stay hidden in the Realm. You treated her different, I wanted to know why so I asked Sybil. She told me before she even knew what she was saying.”Disgust and worry marred Selene’s brow. She was disgusted with herself that she hadn’t realized what Ella truly was and worry about Arabella. What could Ella do to Arabella? Selene had to keep her worry inside as the Realm needed her now. Time enough for Arabella later.“Ella, I, Selene, strip you of your role as Mother. You are now lower than the lowest imps. You will spend the next century in purgatory and we can only hope you learn something while you are there. If not, it will become your permanent home. Do you understand me?

Black Beach

Chapter 80“Look out Arabella,” Lucian screamed. Before he could get to her, Arabella was struck in the head. Whirling around, Arabella laughed at Lucian. "You win that match, Lucian. After lunch, I demand a rematch.”Lucian was laughing also. When had he ever had this much fun. Looking at his childhood the answer would be, never. Arabella set her racket down and waited for Lucian to come from the other side of the net. Lucian lay his racket beside Arabella’s and grinned at his raven haired girl.“You’re really full of yourself, aren’t you Lucian? Just you wait, I will get you back,.”Laughing and talking, Lucian and Arabelled climbed the steps of the veranda. “Your lunch is ready misses.” Cook was a woman of few words and insisted on being called cook. Now, you could see a twinkle in her eyes as she watched the two young people play bat mitten. It was wonderful to hear laughter on the island. Not since her son left for University had there been such joy.Arabella’s island sat in the
