Ch 31 - Give Him Time

It was still dark out when Hale woke Samantha up. They hadn’t spoken about her training, and he didn’t know how far she’d gone with Amaya, but he figured that she’d tell him. She groggily woke up, barely registering that he was making her brush her teeth and change.“Where are we going?” she whined as they headed outside.“We’re going back to the lake,” he replied.“Ok, let me ask a different question. Why are we heading to the lake right now?” she asked.“Because this is the best time to harness your energy,” he responded.“I feel like that’s a load of nonsense, but I’ll bite,” she grumbled. He laughed at that, leading the way to the lake. He already knew that she wasn’t exactly a morning person, despite telling him about the strange rule they had at the Twilight Moon Pack about everyone having breakfast together.Just because she had to comply with the rules, didn’t mean she liked them.Holding onto his hand and looking at where they were headed, she felt her face heat up thinking b

Ch 32 - The Beast Is Coming

With the weird early morning encounter out of the way, everyone woke up later in the morning. Killian had gone out for a run, and when he hadn’t returned, Calypso was worried about him, but she figured she needed to give him his space.Instead, she could hear her sons in the kitchen, talking to Maria. They were animatedly telling the older woman about their adventures the day before. They’d been spending a lot of time with Edward, and he was teaching them many things about being a Lycan.“MOMMY!” they shouted upon noticing her.She laughed, heading over to hug them and kiss their foreheads. “How are my babies doing?”“We’re doing good mommy,” Aiden replied with a toothy grin.“Where’s daddy?” Xavier asked her.“I have no idea. Do you want to go and help me find him?” she asked them.“Only after they finish eating, which you have to do too young lady,” Maria scolded. The boys laughed at their mother as she earned herself a glare from the older woman. “Yes mam.”They had their breakfast

Ch 33 - Sanctuary

Aiden was fast asleep, with Xavier choosing to stay by his side, while their parents paced in their office. They’d rushed into the house, and their friends were concerned. Cassidy was the first to step into the office.“Guys, you’re worrying us. What the hell happened out there?” she asked the mates.Calypso turned to her mate. “Lian, he said Alpha Khan, right? I didn’t hear things.”Killian rubbed his face. “He did.”“Alpha Khan? As in the first Lycan Alpha? What’s going on?” Nathan questioned, he, Zen, and Vera having followed Cassidy in.“I had a vision of sorts, and Aiden must’ve been in it. Alpha Khan has apparently delivered a message to me,” Killian informed.“Well? What’s the message?” Zen asked when his brother in mating wasn’t saying anything.“The beast is coming,” Calypso responded.“Well, that’s not ominous at all,” Cassidy stated.Nathan turned to Killian. “What exactly did you see in this vision?”“It was raining, and I guess I heard the beast growling, but I couldn’t s

Ch 34 - Who Has It Worst Between The Lycans And The Vampires

“I specifically ordered white peonies. What the hell is this?”Everyone around her was terrified of her, terrified of her next reaction. The delivery man gulped, not knowing who the mistake was on, but he knew that if he didn’t have an answer for her, she was going to make him the culprit.“My love, you can still use the roses while this man goes back to get you the peonies, right?” Zen came to the man’s defence. The man nodded quickly. “Right.”“See? Problem solved,” Zen told her.She huffed, before walking away. “Thank you, Your Highness.”Zen chuckled. “Don’t mind her. She’s just a perfectionist, but I’d get onto it with those peonies if I were you.”The man scurried off to do just that, while the Vampire Prince followed after his mate. With two days left until the wedding, she was raining fury on anyone who wasn’t playing their part.Everyone had gotten used to having her and Zen around, but none of them were getting used to her change in attitude. She’d been graceful for the firs

Ch 35 - She's Not Your Enemy

The planning went on late into the night, and kicked off early in the morning. The pack members were barely rested, but they all wanted to play their part in making sure that everything goes according to plan.Nathan had negotiated with the two packs closest to the castle for accommodation for their guests, while others opted for some of the human hotels nearby. With every hour that got closer to the time, the excitement grew.Everyone had even gotten used to Vera’s demands. They finally understood that for as long as they executed everything in the way she wanted it done, then there wouldn’t be any issues. Even she was visibly calmer now that everyone was pulling their weight as expected.By late afternoon, Killian arrived with Calypso, his parents, and his sons. Calypso didn’t want to leave the boys behind, and Edward and Amaya volunteered to look after them while their parents attended to the wedding and inauguration. As soon as her brothers saw her, Nathan and Zen dragged Calypso

Ch 36 - Sleeping Naked Landed Me A King

Calypso believed that her vampire wasn’t her enemy. For the first time in a while, she didn’t feel any turmoil within her. It was almost as though all sides of herself were on the same page, and she welcomed that peace. She was also appreciative of the moment away with her brothers. Getting to share what was bothering her felt like she’d lifted a load off of her chest. She hugged them, and they hugged her back just as tightly, aware that she was counting on them to get her through her struggles. The siblings made it back to the castle after their talk to find everyone getting ready to have dinner. The final countdown had officially begun, and the excitement levels were higher than ever, with music blasting from all around.Killian caught Nathan and Zen’s looks, and he knew that they’d taken care of what was going on with his mate. He didn’t want to pressure her into speaking to him, but he knew that she needed to confide in someone. And he was glad she could at least open up to her si

Ch 37 - Celebrations Some Of Us Weren't Invited To

As promised, Hale, Killian, Vera, and Zen stuck by Cassidy and Nathan as they greeted their most esteemed guests. While the happy couple knew that the supernatural world was vast, they hadn’t expected to meet some of the species they ended up meeting. They met with some witch coven leaders, some vampire clan leaders, some pixie troupe leaders, some fairy herds, and some elven vale leaders. They were most surprised to learn that there were other creatures but that they chose not to come.As the most knowledgeable of them all, Hale had explained that unlike werewolves, vampires, witches, Lycans, and some elves who could blend in with humans, the other creatures lived in hiding in areas least populated by humans to be safe. The group of friends recognized then that there was a whole lot they still had to learn. With Vera having been in charge of the guest list, she taught the happy couple who would be attending, and those people’s significance in the bigger picture. She’d also taken care

Ch 38 - Show Me The Bodies

The tension in the air was thick, with Bradley and Cain having left the room, leaving the Queen with the three Princes and new King. No one dared to break the silence, until Vera went looking for them.“Queen Hyacinth!” she squealed upon seeing the woman.Queen Hyacinth looked over at her. “I believe you were in charge of invitations. I wonder where mine ended up.”However, despite not expecting to see the Queen, Vera wasn’t fazed by the woman’s cold demeanour. “I didn’t send the invite out because I didn’t think you’d show. You never show up to anything.”The older woman was taken aback by the bold accusation. “You know why.”“Which is why you should then understand why I didn’t invite you. Besides, with Hale here, I didn’t know how he’d feel having you here, and I felt he represented The Vale,” Vera added. The older woman looked towards her son. “Ah yes, my son.”“Your Majesty, I don’t know whether or not to apologize in this scenario, but I will introduce myself and my brother in m

Ch 39 - You Don't Even Want To Go Back

While everyone else around them was having a good time, Nathan and Cassidy were secretly worried about what was going on outside. They were both aware of the situation, and on the outside, they were all smiles. While inside, they were linking each other.“So, she just showed up and she’s pissed?” Cassidy asked her husband.“Pretty much. Killian says they’re viewing the bodies from the attack, but apparently everyone can pretty much sense the tension between Sam, Hale, and the Queen,” he replied.“Are we doing anything about it?” she asked.Nathan caught Frazier leaving. “Something tells me we won’t have to for now, but if she comes for either one of them, we take their side.”She wasn’t quite following, until a couple of minutes later when Queen Hyacinth walked in with Frazier, followed by Killian and Calypso. They were instantly worried about Hale and Samantha’s absence, something Calypso immediately sensed as she walked over to them.“Hale needs to cool down. They’ll join us in a co

Ch 40 - It Will Always Be You

“Zen, you need to come outside. Bring Hale and no one else.”The instruction had come from his sister via link, and the Vampire Prince wasted no time following the order. He grabbed Hale on his way out, and once they were outside, they scented the Lycan couple out. They did not expect to find what they arrived to.“What the hell happened?” Zen asked them. The mates had both found a t-shirt and shorts to put on. “He was killed by those things. There were three of them. They drained his blood.”“Do you think that’s what they’re doing with the blood?” Hale asked.“I’m almost sure of it. I don’t know what the blood means for them, but I’m certain that they are part of the reason why blood is needed,” Killian replied.“We understand what you meant when you said they look like nothing you’ve ever seen before,” Calypso added.“Wait, so they just attacked this one guy and left?” Zen checked.“What are you thinking?” Hale asked him.Zen turned to Killian. “You mentioned that they lure out all
