Chapter forty

Serena’s pov“Pl… please my lady” the worthless waste of breathe groaned, coughing out blood, further staining the floor.“Mercy” he choked out, making me grit my teeth in anger, mercy was the last thing on my mind. “You want mercy? Tell us what we want to know!” my son, killian growled as he threw yet another punch to the guards already bloodied face. “I don.. don’t kn.. know anything” the guard said between breathes and I finally stood from my chair.“Why do you keep protecting them? They left you here to die! Why are you so loyal? I am your priestess, shouldn’t you be loyal to me?” I asked, wanting nothing more than to cut out his throat but I still needed him. “I didn’t see anything my lady, I swear” he begged and I had to commend his strength, many would have broken from all the pain we inflicted on him. Maybe he was telling the truth. “Lies!” Killian roared and stabbed the guard’s shoulder with the knife he’d been using to cut and stab him. “Aaaaaaaah, please, I swear on m

Chapter Forty one

Trevor's povI was a whirlwind of emotion and exhausting but I let none of it show as we continued to run through the night till dawn. "We should find a water source, rest and refuel" I said to the others through the link and they agreed. All except Uncle Mika."No, we keep going" he said, a little too aggressive, making Drew stand at attention at the obvious disrespect. He'd been barking orders at us all night long and would rush us every time we took a moment too long to catch our breaths. We'd put up with it all night and I had to calm Drew a lot more times than I'd like and to an extent, I understood, it's his daughter we were out here looking for but she was my mate and I'm the Alpha here. "We've been running all night, we all need rest! We're useless if the person following us decides to attack and we can't even defend ourselves!" I growled, letting my Alpha aura out so he would submit. "We don't know who it is or what they're capable of, all we know is that it's not a rogue.

Chapter Forty two

Mia's povJosy and I had been out in the forest, away from the coven for some quiet because my training had officially started. Well, more like we'd hit a wall and I was just about ready to explode. "Relax Mia, forcing it will only make it harder, let it flow through you" she said in a gentle voice but it still got on my nerve. I'd been at it for hours but still couldn't get the hang of it, especially since she told me this was the easiest part of my training, learning how to control and manipulate the wind. I tried to ease my mind and follow her instructions, the only way I was going to get it was if I listened to her. She was the teacher after all. I took deep breaths and let it rush over me like she'd said. Clearing my mind of anything that could distract me, more like trying to not think about Trevor. I kept breathing deep, feeling the air fill my lungs up. The oh so familiar tingles in my finger tips started and I grew hopeful once again. I focused on the feeling, allowing

Chapter Forty three

Killian's povI was busy cleaning up the mess my mother and I had made when Roman walked in, visibly cringing at the sight of blood. Weak little bitch, that's why his mate left him behind. "What do you want?" I sneered, I didn't have a reason to hate him, I just did, I hated weak men. Not only did he lose his mate, he was failing to find her as well. If I were Josy, I'd celebrate my freedom from this omega male, he didn't even deserve to be called a beta male, he was at the bottom of the food chain. "Your mother sent me to inform you that you are to join us this time, with your friends" he said, looking away from the blood, punk. What he said though did peak my interest. My mother would never send me out if there wasn't something promising. "Oh, you actually found something this time?" I asked, quite pleased and surprised. For once he brought back valuable information. "Yes, we suspect that they're somewhere in the west with the princess and I had a..." I cut him off as he was fi

Chapter Forty four

Trevor's povAfter thirty minutes of rest, we decided to continue our search, which was starting to look a little fruitless. Yes, we hadn't been out here for long but in our wolf form, we managed to cover a lot of ground. Approximately a week's travel by human form so we were a bit away from the pack. But none of it meant nothing because we still had no clue where she could be. "Guys, we need to rethink our plan" I said through the link as I slowed down to a stop, making the others stop as well. "As much as I hate to admit it, you're right, we're not getting anywhere like this" uncle Mika said with a sigh, surprising all of us. "At this rate, we'll run across the country" Wade said and I nodded my head in agreement. "We need to figure out what to do, we can't keep running blind" I said as they all seemed to agree. "Let's not forget that we're dealing with witches, they could be right under our nose" Cole said, making me think back to the one that was following us. What if his jo

Chapter Forty five

Mia's povI stayed by her side unmoving, even when Ryan came with coffee, telling me he can watch her while I rest. I just couldn't leave her, not when she was hurt because of me. How did I even do that? Was my magic really unstable? If so, then it was dangerous. Not just for Josy but for everyone around me, the entire coven. The pack wouldn't be safe with me there. I really needed to get my shit together. "Please wake up soon" I said, guilt washing over me in waves, I needed her to wake up so I could tell her just how sorry I am. I should have listened to her instead of letting my selfish desires cloud my mind. "She'll be okay, she just needs to rest" Violet said and I had to find a little comfort in that. I had almost shit myself when the healer said she'd also suffered a head injury causing a concussion but she was able to heal it and all that was left was for her to sleep it all off. "You're going to drop off of that chair or give yourself back ache if you don't move from ther

Chapter Forty six

Killian's pov"I don't know who you are but coming here with rogues was a bad idea" she said, making my smile broaden. "Coming here was a great idea, I've been looking for you Mia" I said, watching different emotions swim in her eyes as I confirmed that I indeed knew her. We were close once, when we were children and I was quite protective of her. Funny how I was going to be the one to kill her."I only want you, the others, I'll let my mother decide what to do with them. So, you either surrender yourself or I kill you along with everyone here" I said, deciding to play a little before ending every miserable soul here . "How do you plan on killing me? you're outnumbered" she said but quickly grew unsettled when my smile turned into a smirk. "Outnumbered, yes but let's not fool ourselves here cousin, none of these people are warriors and are definitely not a match for my friends" I said spreading my arms out, signalling my friends to show themselves. I saw the colour drain from her

Chapter Forty seven

Trevor's povMy heart raced as I tore through the forest, the bond growing stronger and stronger the further I went in the direction the blast came from. "Faster, move faster now!" Drew growled and I complied without question. I needed to get to her, I needed to find her. Night had come fast and I could feel myself get anxious. The need to find her doubling by the minute. "Trevor! Slow down or we'll lose you!" uncle James linked, making me aware of how fast I was running. I could sense them about a mile back but I couldn't stop, it's like the bond was pulling me, and the closer I got, the stronger the pull was. The trees started getting thicker, harder to maneuver around but I still pushed through, I just had to keep going. My heart skipped a beat and all my senses went haywire, telling me to go back. A fear I'd never known spread across my body and it started to feel like someone was watching me. I pushed past my need to find Mia and came to a stop, an eerie silence surrounding

Chapter Forty eight

Serena's povAshes, that's all that was left of my son, ashes. The last of my mate, was nothing but ashes, my boy. They took him from me."How did this even happen?" I asked one of the two people that had returned without a single scratch. Killian had Alpha rogues specially engineered to withstand any magical attacks. It makes no sense that a group of weak witches were able to kill every single rogue and my son!"I don't know what even happened out there, one minute we had the upper hand and then the next thing these wolves appeared and started killing all the rogues, it happened so fast" Roman explained and all I could do was grip the urn closer to my chest. "What wolves?!" I yelled, standing from my throne. Who would do this? Who is even strong enough to kill my rogues and boy? It can't be normal wolves. "It looked like they were from Mia's pack" he said, reeking of fear. Those bastards, they took him from me. As if killing him wasn't enough, they had to burn him too.All that wa

Chapter Forty nine

Trevor's povIt's been two whole days since I almost lost her, two whole days since she's been asleep and there's literally no sign of her waking up. Mom has come to check up on her about every few hours to make sure she's recovering well and always assures me that she's fine, just resting. I want to believe it, I truly do, but seeing her laying on my bed not moving makes me want to break something. She may look like she's peacefully sleeping but knowing that she almost died makes it hard to believe that she really is just resting. "Still no response from Violet?" I asked for like the millionth time and Drew just whined, shaking his head no. One thing I'm grateful for, is that he hasn't gotten tired of my constant questioning, maybe because he's just as worried as I am and seeing her like that is like a slow poison eating us up. We want her to wake so bad. A knock on the door pulled me back to reality and for a second, my eyes left her to look at my closed bedroom door, trying to
