#Chapter 41 Appease Him

Olivia’s POV I leave the hospital shortly after Gabriel’s outburst. I never knew I could see him so angry, his skin almost turning to fur in the hospital hallway. I’m glad he kept it somewhat together, but not that he is off to get Alpha Connor for a love affair that doesn’t really exist. I almost consider removing the mind link to call him back, but I think better of it. Instead, I pace the foyer in my short, silk nightgown. I figured being at the palace would be enough for him to calm down after his warning earlier. He hasn’t returned and from what the guards tell me, they haven’t heard of him through the link in a while.

#Chapter 42 Memory Lane

Olivia’s POVHe gusts a gentle chuckle and slides his arm around me further. I take that as permission to try and relax, at least for now. I sink into his hold and his warmth, my legs instinctively curling around one of his as I settle in for a long night ahead of us both. His lips press into my forehead as I close my eyes and dare to drift asleep. I figured tonight would be about me comforting him but instead he seems to be trying to help me relax. It works too. I whimper slightly while drifting into some much-needed rest, Gabriel’s side more and more healed every time I wake up, surrounded by hot water and his protective arm.

#Chapter 43 A New Wall

Olivia’s POVIt feels odd returning to Herold’s pack lands. It’s still dark so the streets are bare and the shops are closed, but it changes nothing. I press my cheek against the window of Alpha Herold’s sports car and feel the engine purr at we creep through the empty streets of my old home.Nothing seems to have changed, but in the same respect, everything has changed.“Where are you going?” I breathe, my warm breath on the window. Herold has pulled off the main road, but not the one that leads to his packhouse. “I thought we were going to

#Chapter 44 Lights Out

Olivia’s POVI recognize Alpha Herold’s bed as I sit up, gripping his blanket that has been placed carefully over my body. I glare up at Herold who offers me a cup of coffee but I am too startled to take it right now. I feel around my body, my clothes still the same, even though he has changed and looks far more calm than I feel in this moment.“Please, tell me it’s not morning. Tell me I didn’t fall asleep here.”Herold grimaces as he replies, “you passed out on the couch while looking for the bottle. I tried to wake you but you were unders

#Chapter 45 A Silent Transition

Third Person POV The power finally turns back on but the trouble remains. Olivia is beside herself in grief, in agony, as she weeps over the vessel of her brother’s dilapidated, sickly state. She can’t stop crying, even as the machines have finally come back on and his numbers are climbing back to normalcy, the mention of his unknown status earlier has her thinking the worst has happened already. Eugene stopped the doctor who said Reese’s body may bounce back, but his soul may have already left in the process of loosing the electricity that kept the machines running. Olivia couldn’t accept hearing this and has practically barricaded

#Chapter 46 Reoccurring Witch

Olivia’s POV With the power back on, the hospital is scrambling to readmit all the patients that needed help when the blackout occurred. I thought having the power on that Reese’s care would resume, but the overwhelming amount of injured wolves in the rogue attack and the wolves hurt from accidents in the blackout, Reese’s care has been pushed aside. For this reason, Eugene suggested bringing him back to Alpha Herold’s pack hospital, the amount of attention he would receive there overwhelming compared to how much he has gotten here. I settle in with the idea and curl up in a ball in Gabriel’s front seat, Eugene in the back with his broth

#Chapter 47 Unusual Taste

Olivia’s POV I feel no guilt for my choices. If anything, I walk around a little taller, a little more proud, with my head held high at the look of embarrassment and shock that crossed her features when I called her a name that she absolutely earned. I lean back in my chair sitting beside Reese who flitters aimlessly through the TV channels on the far wall. Gabriel wasn’t ecstatic with my behavior, or my crude nickname for Alicia, and his silence is heavy as he paces the floor nearby in the hallway. Herold is more than happy as he sits on the couch beside Reese, joking about the movies on the docket. Eugene is somewhere, changing into hi

#Chapter 48 Unwelcomed Return Home

Olivia’s POVI only shrug. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to see things from his side. He was stupid and reckless and it got me and out unborn child killed. I want to stop him from thinking he will ever gain forgiveness, but I don’t stop him when he embraces me, his strong, crushing arms wrapping around me so gently that I have no other option but to sink into them willingly. The feeling of being watched is not lost on me though and I glance up to Reese’s floor, toward his window, seeing a sad, wounded physician in the glass with a sulking look of failure in his eyes that I can’t seem to understand.

#Chapter 50 Down By The Sea

Olivia’s POVThe water is crystal clear and drips off of my swimsuit as I squish my toes in the sand and head for shore. My body is being pushed carelessly by the currant and I need a break with my new friend. Celine has spent most of her time on the beach towels, turning over back and forth like a flopping fish out of water—desperate for a honey-glow tan.I take a seat beside her, letting the sand attach to my wet body and tangling in my long, knotted hair. The sun kisses us both but I lower my sunglasses, threatening to take a nap out here, even while on this beautiful, secluded beach vacation.
