Aria sat down on the bare floor of the dungeon she had found herself in without any explanation from anyone. One moment she had been with Camille, the next minute, a maid had come for her, then another minute later, she was being rounded up by some of the werewolves men that seemed to be stronger than she was by a whole lot. Before she could comprehend what was going on, she had been bundled with some ropes and dumped into the dungeon, and left there to herself. Not a single soul had stayed behind to guard her, so she couldn't ask what her offense was.She tugged at the end of the rope tying her upper body together to see if she could dislodge the rope but she didn't have any luck with it. It had been tied to firmly secured in place for her to untie. When she saw that she had failed to set herself free, she crawled to the bar of the dungeon and tried to see if she could get anyone. She pressed her cheek to the little iron bar barricading her from leaving and she let out a little whimpe

A skinny man who looked to be in his early thirties sat over a table and hit his skinny legs on the floor board by the foot of the table. He was wearing a white baggy shirt that had “Yawed Oat” on it. The floor board flew up and he caught it ever so swiftly before it could make contact with the floor and make a cacophony. He didn't want anyone to know what he was doing. He took out three more floor boards in the same manner and what was once an array of floorboards was now a dark gaping hole that threatened to swallow anyone that attempted to trespass it. He looked through the three windows of the room and when he saw that no one was around the vicinity, he folded the sleeves of his shirt. He jumped into the space where the floor boards were once taking up. Landing swiftly on a cemented floor and instead of the eerie silence that was heard above, the anguished cries of a child reached his ears. He groaned with a huge frown on his bony face, why was she still crying? Didn't she fall

Aria sat in her room, she wanted to stand but her feet felt wobbly. Her heart was still beating from when she saw Ellie, it had been too long since she saw her, Ellie still had that cynical look in her eyes, even when she was supposed to be scared, Ellie was always the stronger one of them and the smarter one too, she was the failure among them, the rotten egg.She remembered how easy it was for Ellie to believe that she was evil, how quick her family changed.“They were never really there” Aria said aloud, their contempt for her had always been there. Her father had always blamed her for her mother’s death, silently with his dismissal and lack of interest in her, Ellie had never truly been there for her, Ellie only saw her as competition, someone to make herself feel better. Her marriage to Gerald had been the icing on the cake. It felt like they finally had an excuse, they finally found something wrong with her a reason to cast her out.Sometimes she wondered how her life would be i

Damien was exhausted from it all. The phone calls, signing endless documents, and responding to emails. He was so exhausted and the only thing he knew he wanted to do was to have a nice and long sleep. Ther wasn't sny more thing he wanted more badly that that at that point."You look stressed sir," his assistant noted before dropping the document on his table. He didn't need to be told that he looked stressed, he knew it well. "I am stressed, Susan. Please hold off any documents and call until tomorrow," he rose from his seat and pleaded for her to inform the driver of his potential departure. She nodded and bided him goodbye for the day before leaving the office. Damien gave weak smiles on his way to the car to the hotel staff who for some reason in the world threw him fake smiles on his way to the vehicle. He knew what they were all saying about him and his family. Behind all the smiles, he knew the stories they've managed to weave in his case."Do you have anywhere particular in

It was a beautiful night, Miguel thought. On nights like this, he liked to paint in his room with music playing in his ears loudly, with his curtains pulled back and his windows open to let in the fresh air, while he painted the night in all its starry glory.Tonight he couldn’t paint, Miguel couldn’t even remember when last he had painted. He was out with his family, camping by the border.Only that they weren’t just camping, they were night guarding the border. He and all the men in his familly had been there for over three months, nothing special had happened, nothing dangerous, and nothing will happen, he had been telling his father this for months, but when did his father ever listen to him.All he wanted was to be back at home with his paint and his headphones, not to be here sleeping on the hard ground in the cold with a fire that never stayed overnight. His father told him that this was supposed to be their life, every four months his family camped near the border in the cold,

Damien was in the night. He hadn’t gone back home since the miscarriage.Part of him was scared, scared to face Aria, he had disappointed her. He ran away when she needed him the most, so how could he face her?Another part of him was angry, angry at how things turned out, so angry that he felt red, red with rage, red with frustration. He had to find those bastards. He had to make them pay.He wanted to hurt them, and hurt them badly. He wanted them to beg for their lives, and he wanted to refuse them.He was speeding across the freeway, trying to track down where exactly he had seen Aria that night. He had gone to the Alpha meeting a wreck, something terrible had happened, a family of night guards wiped out, except one, a skinny boy, whose eyes had seen too much.First those rogues, then those hunters.Everyone is mad these days, he thought angrily, as he sped through. His phone rang, he didn’t want to check, he knew it would be another call from Aria, he hadn’t called her since he l

The noise of Bob's’s heeled shoes pacing up and down disturbed the peace of the office. Every once in a while, someone would look up with a sigh. “What’s wrong with him, anyway?” An elderly woman would whisper to the lady in the desk right next to her and the lady would shrug in response. They’d never seem their boss this agitated. “Dear God!” Bob groaned in silence as he thought of how desperate and pathetic he must have sounded while he begged Jessica to take the job. He’d hoped that the mere offer of handing her the job she’d lost would be enough for her but apparently she was a hard nut to crack and he had to beg and beg until he threw in his last and final card: the party package of the house, car and massive salary increase that was usually meant for top tier journalists that were risking their lives.“I hate making promises,” was the last thing she’d said before ending the call abruptly. The nerve! Bob had thought in utter rage and if he wasn’t in the company facility he woul

Terry’s heart beat rapidly as he inquired about his consignment from Fes. He’d never been so scared like that in his entire life. This was everything he’d ever worked for, everything he believed in—the pillar of his finances. He felt his heart race in anticipation of Fes’s answer and how he dug his finger to his palm subconsciously was a sign. “Boss, I’m sorry I didn’t ask your permission before taking the reins of order. But I placed a call through to one of my close friends and he told me about a newly discovered underground warehouse in the southside,” The southside was a secret code for ‘confidential location’. “And so, as soon as I got tipped off about the raid, I remembered the warehouse and called a friend of mine and that’s how I put the men to work. We loaded all the trucks and transported it at midnight to the warehouse,” Fes said with a tinge of fear lingering behind his confidence. Terry took a very deep breath and pulled his mouth into a smile. If Fes were to be in fro

FLASHBACK Aria's troubled mind was brought to a still immediately when she felt a larger hand slowly cover her own. At that moment, Aria didn't know how to feel, she definitely didn't see that coming, nor did she anticipate the things it was going to do to her.Damien's cold hand encroached over Aria's balled up fist, he didn't actually know why he did it. Heck, all he knew was that his hand had acted out of its own accord while he watched her struggle with what he presumed to be related to her entering a jet for the first time.At the feeling of his hand over hers, Ari realised that she'd been so anxious that her hands were firmly gripping the leather seat of the jet. The atmosphere was now riddled with self awareness. Both Aria and Damien were so painfully aware of their connected hands but neither spoke up to acknowledge it. They all continued in their business like nothing happened, knowing fully well that there was something happening.Damien who was sitting beside Aria found him

Aria was waiting for Damien when he walked in.He stood in front of her unsure of what to say, his arms flailing around him helplessly, Aria saw him and ran to him immediately wrapping her arms around him tightly. He stood there awkwardly, he did not know whether to hug her back or not, he did not feel deserving of her.Aria drew back and put her hands on either side of his face as she looked up at him, she wanted to memorize his face, she felt like she hadn’t seen him in so long. It had been two days, forty-eight hours of not seeing him, not hearing his voice, not feeling him around her, and it felt like it had been too long. She reached up, standing on her tip toes and kissed him, Damien held her waist instinctively, as though his body had been fighting her touch, he needed her, he thought as he kissed her back. They needed each other. Her hands dug into his thick hair, holding it firmly as if she wanted to bring him closer to her, as if he wasn’t close enough. Her legs climbed his
