H-how did you know where I was—”My words were cut off when he sneered at me angrily. He strode past me, and then he shut door forcefully. He gently pushed me against the door, and trapped me in between his arms.“Did you honestly think I can't find you, Annika? You can't hide from me forever, I will always find you!” He said. “I didn't come here because I'm giving you the fucking space! Because I didn't want you to get stressed again over me again. . . I didn't want to cause you and our baby any trouble,” He whispered softly, and then his eyes landed on my belly. He closed his eyes while his hands fisted in frustration. “Baby. . . I tried to stay away from you because that's what you want me to do. I was giving you the space you needed, but that doesn't mean I'm agreeing to this!”He slowly

CHAPTER FORTY-ONE: HOME

ANNIKA'S POVThe beautiful moon glimmers in the sky, surrounded by the twinkling stars which looked like tiny fireflies from above. I smiled as I watch it in fascination. Had Aries not reminded me, I'd probably still be in office by now.He came from a meeting was shocked to see that I was still there. I smiled, realizing it's been two weeks since I started working with Aries. He was always busy, and rarely stayed in his office, but he always made sure that I ate on time. Sometimes though, I feel a little embarrassed, especially when they had to deliver my food even when I didn't call.My smile faded when I realized who was standing in front of my apartment door. My heart immediately skipped a beat, like it knows that it belong to that person. When I told myself that I needed peace and healing, I decided to forget about them. Even when it pained me to let Caspian go, I did it. . .because I believed it was right. For the sake of your child, don't make any more drastic actions, will you?” she pleaded. She's been going on about it for almost an hour already, and it makes me more and more guilty. I hate to admit that she's right. It was reckless, and childish.“Alright, I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't have provoked her. I don't have an excuse to that. I let my anger get to me without thinking about the welfare of my child,” I said, biting my lips out of guilt.Jade sighed and hugged me. “I'm not mad at you. I totally understand how you feel. Its just that. . . I care for you and I don't want you to get hurt,” she whispered.I nodded my head at her. We were in that position when we hea

She looked at me again and held my hand. “What happened to your face?”“Nothing, Mom. I just had a little accident at work,” I lied. Her eyes widened as worry filled her eyes. “What happened? Annika! You're almost due, you should take good care of yourself! What if something happened to you?”I hugged her tighter to calm her. I felt even more guilty for making her worry. I looked at Caspian who was looking at me too. I'm not sure if he was relieved that I didn't tell the truth. . . Or worried because it seemed to affect my Mother so much. “But nothing happened, Mom. And I promise, I'll take good care next time. By the way, we've brought you some g
