Danica POVFriday is everyone’s favorite day. And for the first time in a very long time, it is mine too. So many things to be grateful for today.Grateful that I only have one last day in this week for school. Grateful that after school I have a job to go to. Grateful that when this day is over, I don’t have to go to my home. I get to go to Dmitry’s home. Also grateful that it was so close to the end of the school year that no one cared when I decided to skip school.I thought a lot about what Dmitry said to me last night. He was right. I had created a bubble and lived in it day and night. I made myself an outcast on purpose to protect myself from the shame of my father. And today was one day I didn’t see myself dealing with it.I needed a ‘Me Day’ and Dmitry had the perfect house to do so. Filled with all my favorite snacks, unlimited movies, and a gigantic pool. Which I planned to take full advantage of.Dmitry bought me a pretty white swimsuit when he stocked my bedroom closet in

Danica POV Work was a little harder today. Mainly because Maci decided to test me. She left me alone in the store for two hours. I was cashier, busser, and barista. It was scary and exciting at same time. Plus it took my mind off the my project meeting with Lucas. He arrived fifteen minutes early and just watched me. I wasn’t sure if he was bored or just curious. Either way I hated every second of it. When I finally sat down, I handed him my typed paper. “Here is your autobiography.” He gave a half smile. “Wish I could have given you the same.” I lowered my head. “I know. And I want to say that I sorry.” His eyes scrunched together. “Dani, you don’t have to…” Sympathy filled his voice and I just couldn’t take it. Not from him. “No. I do. I mean I want to apologize. I could have given you a bullshit story about my life. Something fake. Something you can easily write. But I think in the back of my mind, that’s not what I wanted.” He stared at me. I’m sure that’s not what he expec

Dmitry POVI hate graduations. Parents waiting patiently to see all the hard work they put in for the last 12 or so years has finally paid off. All the late-night, last-minute projects. Every math tournament. Band competition. The all-day track meets and loud football games.Let us not forget the monthly progress reports and the semester report cards. All of it leading up to this very moment. All of it, just so they can shout their babies name aloud while watching them receive a piece of paper that will push them toward the next step in life.I hate graduations. Especially when it’s a big school. Hundreds of kids lining up outside the building. Then lining up inside the building, so they could walk in a straight line to their carefully spaced seats. Then after listening to some well composed speech, we all have to wait patiently for that same line of young adults walk across a stage.Well lets just say Danica’s graduation was not unique in any way compared to other graduations. Only d

Danica POVDmitry pulled my car off to the side of the driveway so that it wasn’t blocking the garage anymore. Cory had it displayed like a show car in a sales lot.I thanked Cory several times after finally realizing there was no way to convince him to take the car back. After which, I informed them both that I was going to the lake for a party in a few hours. So our celebration was put on hold.Cory decided since I was going out, they were going out too. They started drinking since it was too early to get ready bar hopping. And I started to get ready.Grace texted me the location of the party. It was a big lake and without it, I could be walking around forever. It was close to the house so I decided to walk to the party. Grace said swim wear, so I took advantage of the white swimsuit Dmitry bought me. I put on some long shorts and a tank top over it. I still wasn’t comfortable with showing my body around anyone. Most of the scars from the accident have healed. And I haven’t seen my

Danica POVI texted Grace to let her know I left early and that I made it home safely. I was about to turn off my phone and just chill. Maybe I would watch a few more episodes of Game of Thrones.Robb Stark was about to ask Walder Frey to use his bridge or something like that. The house empty when I got back. If Cory stayed true to his word, the guys were out drinking. I went straight to my bathroom and took a shower. Then after, I put on the most comfortable pajamas I could find. A pink crop tank top with the matching drawstring shorts. The tank top was cropped enough to show my entire stomach so I threw on a loose razor back shirt. On the way out of my room, something caught my eye. There was a small rectangle turquoise box on my bed. Right in the center of my pillows. Underneath it was a white envelope with my name on it.I leaned against the bed and pushed the box to the side. Inside the envelope was a thick silver card that read Congrats and a few inspirational words. I opened t
