Chapter Twenty-one

“Everly.” Savannah forced the name out of her throat, her voice was laced with emotions. She couldn't have shown how hurt she was, standing before Jenkins and staring into his cold eyes. The pain of being a girl who couldn't help her man engulfed her. “Hey, what's wrong?” Everly asked in the most concerned tone. Her eyes ran curiously while she held her arm. “You seem so serious.” Everly could easily tell that there was something wrong, she hadn't met Savannah in this shape before. Whatever the problem was, it needed an urgent solution. “Yes,” Savannah replied, wearing a tearful smile. “It's about Jenkins. He requires my help but,” She hesitated, her body collapsing on itself. “Is it okay to open up? What if she isn't able to help out?” she cogitated. Chapter Twenty-two

Johan pressed a hand on his temple and bit his lips, while he kept the other hand on the steering. “Do you want to end up like her?” the words rang so loud in his ears. He hadn't been threatened his whole life. “Why this all of a sudden?” He fired the engine of his car, forcing his way through a crowd of people before bringing it to a halt in the parking lot. He quickly unstrapped his seat belt, picked up his briefcase and got down from his car. Meanwhile, he'd noticed a man standing before the full glass revolving door that let into Oritz, which happened to be the biggest television station in coven town. It was his boss, Naylor, his arms were folded defiantly across his chest as he continued to tap the tiled floor with his foot while he awaited Johan's arrival. Johan exhaled deeply, over the past few weeks Mr. Naylor had proven to be a thorn in the flesh. Many a time he often thought he was no different from the devil in hell. He adjusted his tie and paced further with a neat smil

Chapter Twenty-three

The moon shone softly on the city streets, bringing with it an end to the night's activities. The sound of screeching tires could be heard in a distance as Johan brought his car to a halt outside his apartment. The smell of cigarette hit him as he pushed open the door of his car. He swept his eyes up and down his apartment with one arm on the door, the other on the car top, while his foot remained on the brake. There was no reason whatsoever for him to perceive the scent of a cigarette. More so, he was the only one staying in the apartment. Did someone visit? Or is it a ghost lurking around?, He cogitated. Unfortunately, there was no light bulb outside his apartment to brighten the environment. He head dived into his car, gripped his torch, then shut the door of his car as he slowly paced cautiously towards the backyard which happened to be ghost quiet, sniffing his nose as he held his torch firmly in like manner of a cop in the strategic weapons and tactics team.“Hello?” he said,

Graeme Clough kept mute for some seconds as he gazed at the open window binds.“Ok, I get it” Darron said, automatically shutting the windows. “You can start talking, now!”“Is th

The smile on Hahn's lips lengthened as he gazed at his father through the mirror.“Do I?” he asked, thrusting his hands into his pockets as he turned to him.“I bet she'll realize how good of a man you are the moment she sees you.” “We don't have to be quick to judge father. Or don't you think so?” Hahn pointed out. His words painting a clear picture that he'd always gotten rejected, in case his father had forgotten so soon. However, his rejection came as a result of his arrogance and wrong idea that women could be easily gotten with the affluence of his father's wealth, not leaving out his unchecked temper. He rubbed the skin on the neck as he gazed out through the half glass window. All this while Ellie kept him firmly in her gaze as she stood by the door. The burden upon him was too much to bear although, she felt a strong desire to embrace him from behind, but that wouldn't lift the burden off his shoulders. “Are you unable to sleep?” she asked.“Huh!” he yelped. His eyes held a flash of shock as he half turned to her.“I thought you were asleep already.”“Well, I was,” she threw her eyes to the top of its frame. “But, not anymore.”A watery smile creased his face, remembering Everly as he gazed at her before breaking eye contact.“Yes, I'm. Come on in.”She paced in on her night gown and sat beside him, but the night sky again captured his attention. She gazed at his lips, but that was all she could do, lo

Chapter Twenty-eight

Legs crossed, Everly clicked her fingernail against the round table.“Can you go straight to the point?”Her eyes searched his handsome face for answers.“Take it easy,” Hahn said. “I've….”“Something to say?” Everly interposed. “Is that it?” “Yes but…”“Look here, I don't know what my father has assured you of,” she paused and smirked. “But, you and I, we can't be a thing.”“How sure are you? Your father.....”“My father will do nothing.” her eyes brightened at her words. “The decision is mine to make.”Hahn drew in slow, steady breath as he hid his arms behind him and clenched the chair with a death grip. After which he squeezed his eyes shut, tilted his head to both sides and exhaled deeply. He leaned forward and placed his hands on the table, his gaze boring into her cheeks.“I understand but….”“No,” Everly said, pursing her lips. “ You don't.”Hahn withdrew his hands and hid them in between his thighs as he formed them into a fist. “Can I talk?”“No, I think we're done here.” E

chapter Twenty-nine

Graeme Clough tapped his foot as he hummed his favorite song while rocking his chair back and forth. The process seemed to be longer than he thought, besides he never wanted to sit idle while Diane did all the work, but she'd earlier told him to do so since he'd no medical knowledge whatsoever. More so, she thought he would be a big distraction, which he actually was, by engaging her in discussions she wouldn't want to be a part of. Security, politics, and clocks were the favorite of his topics. She'd always wondered but kept mute anytime he began his talks on clocks. She definitely wouldn't tell him how it felt, but within the few minutes he'd say a thing or two about it, she felt a hollow weakness in the pit of her stomach. Although, she never did speak to him about, but compared to the ill feeling the clock gave her, the rocking chair and tapping foot felt worse. She raised her eyes and smiled at him whilst placing her thumb firmly on the marked spot on Johan's corpse.“Alright, I

Graeme Clough's eyes ran both sides of its frame as he gazed at Naylor, who moved to both sides of his office.“You should stay calm. There's nothing you can do to bring him back.” he leaned forward on his chair. “He's gone.”Naylor's heart shook at the word as a shadow of doubt crossed his face. “No, that can't be true. He tried to say something.” Naylor stuttered, moving to and fro.“So?” “I never gave him a chance to do so.” He stared at his palms with the eyes of a murderer. “I could see it in his eyes,” he swallowed the lump in his throat. “He was scared.”“Of course, he…” Graeme Clough paused and blinked his eyes.If he was scared and tried to speak then, it could mean he already met with the psychopath and for some reasons, he knew he would die.The sudden silence left its warmth on Naylor's skin, he tilted his head to the side and gazed at Graeme Clough who seemed to be lost in thoughts before waving his arms across his face to get back his attention.“Are you still here
