1. Getting Away

Mari’s POV I swing my knee upwards, hitting him squarely in his junk. He yells a profanity and releases my hair to grab his precious man jewels. While he is bent over in pain, I take the opportunity to grab the pan sitting on the counter. Swinging it, I get him good in the back of his head. That sends him sprawling on the floor. He isn’t out yet, but I have incapacitated him enough to give me a headshot to get away. Grabbing my bag from the floor near the kitchen table, I step around his body and gun for the door. He tries to reach for my leg, but I’m too quick for him. “I’ll kill you, stupid bitch!” He swears, trying to get his body up. “You can’t run away from me!” I know that’s not an empty threat. I would likely be dead on the kitchen floor right now if I had never learned to defend myself from a young age. Adrenaline pumps through my veins as I make a dash for the front door. I open the door and hurry outside, then open my bag, searching for my car keys. Panic sets in when

2. Too Young to Die

Mari's POV “Watch where you’re going, bitch!” “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” I apologise profusely, grabbing my tray with my other hand to steady it. Placing it on the table, I grab a wad of tissues and go to dab the incensed customer’s white shirt. “I’m sorry!” My hand is suddenly slapped away, and I lift my gaze to find the woman sitting next to him glaring daggers at me. “Are you trying to seduce my man?” she demands, wrenching the tissues from my hand and tossing them into my face. I straighten and glare back. “I was trying to…” “Just fuck off!” she snaps. “Desperate whore,” she accuses, turning to her date and wiping his shirt with her hand. An asshole and a bitch. They deserve each other. I’m barely containing my anger as I snap up my tray and march back to the bar. But I take deep breaths. I need to calm down. If I grab her stupid orange wig and drag her across the table, Joseph might just decide to fire me himself. And keep my money to himself. “Okay there, Mari?” Jim, the

3. It's Me, Stefan

Mari’s POV I gasp and scramble back, running into Jim. He grabs my arm to steady me before pulling me to the back of the bar, far from the counter. From here, we watch the fight take an interesting twist. There are four people—three men and a woman—now attacking Connor and his buddies. It’s one of them who just threw Connor onto the floor. With a single leap over the counter, he lands on the floor next to Connor, grabs his shirt collar, and then punches him in the face over and over again. Jim moves and hurries out of the bar area, heading for the doorway where Joseph is lying, blood oozing from his stomach. A quick glance at the fight reveals that the four strangers are doing fine work of subduing Connor and his men. They seem to have already kicked three of them out. Connor is still in the hands of the guy who interrupted him, and with how bloody he looks, I doubt he’ll be able to attack anyone tonight. I hurry over to Jim. Joseph is still conscious, his hand grasping at his wo

4. She's Having Memory Problems

Stefan’s POV She is confused. And scared. I can smell both her confusion and fear, and I don’t like it all. I didn’t look for her for five long years so I could make her afraid of me. But I never thought she would not remember me. Because she isn’t lying. I wouldn’t be sensing all that confusion if she was lying. Has it been too long? I have thought about her every day for thirteen years now, since that day she mysteriously disappeared from my life without a word. Not a single day has gone by without my thoughts wandering to her. Wondering what she was doing, where she was. Maybe she didn’t think about me, and that’s why she forgot. Or maybe she was too young to remember me after all this time. She was just ten… I shake my head. No. We spent way too much time together for her to forget me entirely. We were close. I was the scrawny second son of the alpha, an outcast in my world. She was the housekeeper’s daughter, and she didn’t mind my company. She was my only playmate. Unti

5. Helping Her Cool Down

Stefan’s POV I knew something was off, from the moment I saw her at the club. I didn’t feel that pull I hear other werewolves talking about. Apparently, when you meet your soulmate for the first time, you’re supposed to feel some crazy pull, as if some otherworldly power is pulling your souls together. And unless they die, or you reject them and mate with someone else, you’ll always feel that connection. But maybe that’s because this is not the first time I’m meeting her. I felt that pull back then. That’s how I knew she was my destiny, and why I haven’t been able to rest easy until I found her. That itself was crazy—feeling the pull when I did. I was fifteen, she was ten. I hadn’t shifted for the first time yet. That happened when I was eighteen. And that’s when I was supposed to be able to feel my mate, had they been around. But I recognised her as my destiny long before my wolf showed up. But then again, my wolf isn’t your everyday wolf. So, while it might seem odd to many of

6. Waking Up to a Naked Stranger in Bed

Mari’s POV It feels like I’m cocooned in something. Something warm. It feels so nice. I huddle into it, soaking in all that amazing warmth. When did my duvet get so comfortable? My mind grinds to a halt. When did I get to bed? Fuck. That’s not a blanket. That’s— My eyes shoot open. The first thing I see is a ceiling. A white, panelled ceiling. That’s not the ceiling in my room. The one in my room isn’t panelled, and it isn’t clean like that. But that’s not my biggest issue right now. Is that… Is that… My eyes fall down to my chest. There’s a heavy arm lying there, just below my bust, wrapped around the top of my stomach. Further down, there’s a leg, a heavy leg, resting on my thighs. And, even more impressive, is the hard, big, very naked male body pressing to my side. I scream. He jolts awake, his limbs slackening from their hold on me. I quickly roll out of bed, fall to the floor, and then crawl quickly to the wall. Folding my knees to hide my body, I look at him, tre

7. You are Mine and I'm Yours

Mari’s POV My body responds to him. It’s the craziest thing to ever happen to me, and I don’t fight it. Because it feels so damn good. His lips claim mine hungrily, ravishing them and opening me up to him completely. I gasp, both at the sudden assault and at the heat pooling in my lower abdomen. I have to be crazy. That’s the only explanation for this entire thing. My hands find their way to his side, clutching at his shirt and holding on tight. The rest of my body arches forwards, seeking as much contact as I can. I manage to press my breasts against his chest, and damn, does it feel good. It helps that the night dress I am wearing is quite flimsy. Its satiny fabric rubs against my nipples, sending waves of pleasure straight down to my core. Gods, I need him. Right now. I want him, inside me. Before I know it, I’m rubbing against him like a cat in heat. The air smells delicious. If pheromones smelled, that’s how they would smell like, I decide. The smell seems to be emanating

8. Why Can't She Remember Me?

Stefan’s POV I’m crazy. I can’t believe I just tried to mark her even when she’s still visibly confused about everything. But… Holy shit, it had been so hard to rein myself in with how readily she responded. She might not know it, but her body sure knows who it was made for. I’d barely been able to extract myself from her. I hadn’t stopped walking until I was out of the house and far away, deep in the forest surrounding the compound. The physical distance made it harder to turn back and finish what I started. Because that’s really what I wanted to do. To push that sorry excuse of a nightdress she was wearing out of the way, hike her up in my arms, then impale her with my hard cock. Bite her. Claim her. Make her mine, so no man, werewolf or not, would dare look at her twice. Just thinking about it made me hard again. My wolf itched to get out, but I held him back. I didn’t trust him, not at a time like this. I’ve been looking for her for years. Craving her for even longer. And now

9. I'm Not the One

Stefan’s POV She’s sitting at the table in the dining room, her eyes set towards the entrance, as if waiting for the moment I show up. Andreas is sitting on the other end of the table, checking his phone. Knowing him, he’s probably waiting for an update from Levi and Hanna. She shoots to her feet when she sees me and comes straight to me. “Can we talk?” I nod and turn to Andreas, who has shot to his feet too. “Bring her to the briefing room, I’ll be there in five minutes.” He nods and beckons her to follow. She goes with him, but not before looking back at me twice as if determining whether to trust me or not. I head up the stairs and down the hallway into my room. Peeling my sweaty clothes off, I step into the shower and clean up as fast as possible. I change into another black shirt, matching pants, and a pair of black sandals. Then I open a drawer beside my bed and retrieve a photo I’ve kept with me for thirteen years. I go back downstairs and into the briefing room. The br

10. Not Interested in Becoming His Wife

Mari’s POV When I come to, the lady from before, the housekeeper, is sitting by the bed. There’s a certain scent in the room, like some sort of herb or something. “Ah, you’re awake! That always works!” She comes to her feet, and that’s when I notice the incense burner on the cabin beside the bed. That’s where the fragrant smell is coming from. “What’s that?” “Nothing harmful,” she assures. “How are you feeling? You went faint earlier.” Earlier… I scramble out of the bed, getting to my feet on the other side from her. “Where are my car keys? I want to get out of here.” “Miss, I know what you saw could be shocking—” “Could be?” I snap. Then I shake my head. Stay calm. Get out of here. “My keys.” “The Alpha said—” “Fuck the Alpha! I want my keys and I want them now. If you people hold me in this house one second longer, I’ll call the police!” She shakes her head. “Please don’t do that.” “Get me my car keys, then.” She wrings her hands together. “Only Alpha Stefan knows where
