Chapter 11: Hungarian Rhapsody

I asked the doctor whether I should call him ‘doc' or ‘professor’ while he was mending the wound on my head due to his instinct to hit me with a bar stool thinking I was going to hurt him. Though it was unnecessary because my wound would heal in an hour or two. I didn’t take the human blood since I woke up tonight, usually, the human blood would be served around 3 AM or after I went back from hunting and killing rogue vampires. It was supposed to be the blood of the Hungarian pianist tonight. I didn’t ask for his presence, but he came to this Imperial Colony city to offer his blood to the queen. He said that he didn’t have family left, so giving up himself to immortality was his only option. At such young age, he grew tired of traveling around the world playing piano on big stages. Popularity didn’t fulfill his soul anymore so he sought a greater purpose. When he heard that there was a city ruled by a vampire queen to protect humanity, he felt like he needed the urge to participate.

Chapter 12: The White Beauty

We were going back to the mansion after we rescued the doctor. To our surprise, the doctor asked to ride one of the vampire horses because he liked to ride a horse. Since we weren’t going to hunt for some more rogue vampires, Zach lent his vampire horse, the White Beauty. It had its best figure when it changed into a vampire. Its dull white hair became indescribably beautiful because of the effects when a creature became a vampire. It must have been a struggle for a human to ride a vampire horse. But seeing his tall figure and looked like his strong legs, I wouldn’t be worried. That tall doctor easily got onto the vampire horse's back, and the horse was hissing and neighing because it recognized the rider as a human and it smelled the doctor's blood. The White Beauty was walking in a circle because it smelled the doctor's blood. But I could see that the doctor was an adept horseback rider, he kept on directing the horse to walk in a circle to distract it from the smell of his bl

Chapter 13: Cleaned So Well

The doctor told Mr. Tanaka and me how people usually took him for granted, making us exchange a very meaningful look. We meant that finally, the doctor was in the right place where his brain and hard work would be acknowledged and useful for the greater good, to keep the peace between humans and vampires to live to co-exist. The air suddenly became so sad. I might be a vampire who didn’t feel a thing but the Empath cells in my body sometimes gave me hints of how my surrounding felt. Thus I tried to crack the silence. “Well then, Mr. Tanaka. I'm famished. Could you please also prepare the doctor's dinner and show him the way to his room?” “Certainly, milady. Yours is prepared, and I've asked the kitchen staff to prepare something for the doctor.” Mr. Tanaka looked at the doctor and continued his explanation, “Pardon me, doctor. If later the taste of the food doesn’t suit your taste buds. We’re sorry that since there was no one in the Royal Family eating food anymore except for ano

Chapter 14: Jealousy

The doctor stopped to walk when he saw me before he got down the grand stairs to the dining room. I didn’t know why he shoved his right hand for me to take. He had the oldest chivalry and even though I wasn’t his woman, he tried to act gentle. A true gentleman he was. So I guessed I had nothing to worry about, thus I reached for his hand and let mine hold his. There was a strange thing that happened when I put my hand in his holding. A tingling sensation came from his hand running through my hand, my arms, my shoulders to my back, to my spine, and down to my core. It felt warm. It was like an electric current. For as long as I remembered, this had never happened when I touched humans. I was supposed to be the one who gave the human this feeling. Not the other way around. Vampires manipulated and hypnotized their targets of blood bags. It had never happened the other way around. Or when a vampire said that he or she fell in love with his or her blood bag, was just because of the d

Chapter 15: Sassy Dinner

It was a peculiar thing what the doctor had said. He asked me if I had the will to get sex. What I meant was how in the hell he could get that sassy. Wasn’t having two different personalities including being a timid scientist, and an overconfident lad with a hint of adrenaline junkie already too much? Now there was another personality of his that was sexually rude. “Huh? What did you say just now, doctor? How could you ask your vampire queen such a question? Do you have a death wish or something? “ He frowned upon hearing my questions and I believed he could hear the angry tone in my voice because now he widened his perfect almond-shaped eyes. “What’s the matter, your highness? Did I say something that offended you?” He acted dumb. And I abruptly stood from my chair than in a blink of an eye, my left hand was choking his neck and my fangs were shown were about to rip his throat out. It wasn’t necessary and I never intended to kill him but shock therapy should be shown remembering

Chapter 16: The Unknown

I woke up just to see the blue moonlight broke into my room. It was dusk already, and I was surprised I could sleep that long. I wondered how long I had the dream with that tall and handsome doctor. It had always been a rare occasion for vampires to sleep and dream. This added to the list of peculiar things happened since I met the doctor. I checked on the lab design again and prepared the Blueprint on my tab to be shown later to the doctor, along with the list that I needed to ask him about a few peculiar things happened since the day I met him. I breathed in his scent, the scent of ethanol because he had spent too much time in the lab. The disinfectant liquid had blended with his tanned skin so he wasn’t outside the mansion at the moment. I could smell the sun on his tanned skin. I might miss the sun as well. [Wait… miss?!] Vampires didn’t do missing that we were just hollow with purposes and the urges to drink blood. Again. This added more to the list of strange things that hap

Chapter 17: The Demand

The doctor surprised me with his line, "Before we do business, my queen. You need to know who I am." That was the thing I wanted to ask him because I had a list of strange things happened since the moment I met him. Then how did he know I was about to ask who he was? There was no better explanation than he read my mind. This was beyond the castle's members' understanding. I needed to speak only to the doctor without anyone around. At least there must be only two of us in the dining room. If later anyone overheard or eavesdropped, they could hold their curiosity for later I announced the official news. But for now, I had a secret lurking in the doctor's mouth that I needed to draw out. Hence, I signed Steve while saying, "Leave us, Steve. Make sure no one disturbs us." With his vampiric speed, Steve went outside and closed the dining entrance door. I could still feel his presence standing outside the dining door. He was guarding and later making sure no one disturbed me and the d

Chapter 18: Colleagues

There was a slurping sound near my core from the lower part of my body. The doctor was drinking the liquid left between my legs. Just like he promised, the doctor sucked it dry till I felt that nothing wet was left there. As if we didn’t do it, I couldn’t feel any leftover after he aroused me to produce what he called Empath's life force juice, the most luxurious cuisine for an incubus like him. While staring at the dining room's high ceiling along with its exquisite painting, I finally got the chance to appreciate the art this dining room had. It had been a while since I laid back and relax like this. Only this was a rare lifetime opportunity that I was lying on the dining table, being the dinner for an incubus, without killing me, the undead vampire queen. I stretched my arms to the left and right sides of my body. I savored the cold smooth surface of the oak dining table with the tips of my fingers. Everything seemed alive in me, even the tips of my fingers. It was indescribabl

Chapter 19: The Science of a Disaster

The doctor's remark startled me as he said, "That's why I'm a perfect lover for you, my queen." I was perplexed by his sentence. Why would he say a sentence like that? But I didn't think of anything as I tried so hard not to think in case the doctor would just do his job answering my question in my mind without me asking the questions to him orally. I only frowned. "You frowned again, my queen. And I can't read your mind as you try not to think?" He was right but I was also right at least I was right for once. I tried not to think. "Were you ever wrong, doc?" He smirked. "The perks of being an incubus, my queen. It's just obvious because we're ancient creatures." Damn right, the doctor was a fossil. And he laughed. And I knew why. He knew I thought of him as a fossil. If I could be honest, I didn't mind having him as a colleague and having these kinds of days for the rest of my life. "Won't you be bored, my queen? I'll always be right and I'll do the talking most of the ti

Chapter 20: His Piercing Hazel Eyes

The doctor insisted that he and I had to be lovers. I couldn't guarantee what would be the result, and I had a hunch that the result would be out of control, so I told him that I gave him a chance for only one night to experiment with my body and to see if he could relive the dead cells in me to construct a living DNA for the synthetic blood. But he was just sitting there, smiling. I didn't like the situation because he knew what I had in mind while I didn't know what his plan was. But surely he knew what I had been afraid of. "I can assure you, my queen. As I told you before. I am too old to deceive you as there's nothing new under the sun. I'm tired to be the immortal who is considered an abomination by the creatures living on earth. Once in a while, I'd like to support a good cause. And I see that you have a simple noble cause. To find the source of food for your vampire kind who protect the humans in this kingdom." His eyes pierced through me as I saw them now they were hazel.
