"What did you say?" Danley's mother, Aurora Palmer, asked, her eyes wide. She even stood up when Danley told her she was going to marry Isidore Leventis and that his family would be there any minute to ask for her hand in marriage. She was having lunch with her mother, Aurora, and her two younger sisters when she told them about her engagement to Isidore Leventis, the grandson of the man her mother despises the most. After all, the Leventis, particularly Irnes Leventis, have done nothing but press them about her father's debt when they had nothing to do with it.
