Chapter 21

The bass dropped hard as Aislyn swallowed. She did her best to look around the room, hoping Derek wasn’t there in the crowd suddenly. She didn’t want him to think that she’d take just anyone’s attention. It was all but a day difference between then and now and watching Micha made her heart pound harshly in her chest.    Micha slid her body, her back to his front suggestively. Her left arm snaked up behind her, dragging her glitter up the side of him. Aislyn groaned at the sight of her wrapping her arm around the back of his neck then, making him curve himself against her. Unlike Derek, Micha’s choice allowed her to pull his arm around her and settle his palm widely across her soft belly. Her hips swayed suggestively from side to side until he complied. It was hard to look away from the clearly possessive way he responded to her friend, but as his other hand slid over the curve of her hip

Chapter 22

Aislyn watched as Earl left, shouldering his way through the crowd that climbed the stairs after them. At the sound of the click she punched the button beside the wall for the deadlock to brace itself to the reinforcement there. When Candice’s mother ran this club she pulled out all of the stops and tonight, Aislyn couldn’t have been more thankful.    Potential candidates for her attention seemed to find the booth from the floor while the Alpha of the Silverbacks slipped out of view. Aislyn lowered her eyes away from them in yet another apology for even trying. Not a second more did she realize herself. The flashiness of her costume, how willingly she went along with this to hope to be Derek’s little… It was all so depressingly sad.    Aislyn backed up from the window and collected her clothes from the chair beside her. Her

Chapter 23

Aislyn stood quickly, crossing the room to hit the button and release the door. As she pushed it outward to let her friends in, Micha was the first to rush in.    “Oh my Gods, Aislyn,” she huffed. “Are you okay?”    Micha was dressed in her skinny jeans and green halter top from yesterday that smelled heavily of cocoa butter and mint which was just enough of a zap to her senses to wake up further.    “Yeah?” she sighed.    “Micha,” Candice scowled. “Give her some space. She’s been up here all night. The last thing she probably needs is someone in her face.”   If she could have, she would have spoken up against what Candice

Chapter 24

It wasn’t a question, however, that he’d heard Micha. It was one that he didn’t hear her, or at least that’s what she suggested to herself… and while it hurt her too, speaking up for the sake of him regardless of their situation still hurt immensely. He didn’t come for her. She wasn’t his Little, like Micha said. They were in two very different worlds and maybe it just needed to stay that way.  “Do you think you’re going to be alright tonight?” Candice’s voice softly wedged itself between Aislyn and her thoughts. “Ais?” Aislyn took a deep breath before answering. “I’ll be alright. I think I just nee

Chapter 25

======= Derek =======“Please, Derek…”  he heard her whine just beyond the hanging cloth divider in her bedroom.    Derek panicked as he stood in her hallway after those two left. He could still scent them in the room, their dishes still out on the table begging to be examined. At least there he knew that he’d be able to puzzle them out. It would be weird to, he knew, but the way the women spoke made him bristle. While he knew that all species could be crewel, Derek wanted to be sure that his love wouldn’t be mixed up with them any longer than she needed to be, if he had any say in i

Chapter 26

It was times like these that he wished he wasn’t part wolf. His nose practically controlled all of his reactions. That and a finicky wolf that was just as reserved about things as he was.    The cloth shimmered only slightly in the bathroom under the fluorescent light. It picked up the undertones of her turquoise tiled floor and walls but nothing else seemed so telling about it. He should have just chucked it in the garbage on the way in, tied it up or burned it… both ideas still stuck out heavily in his mind. He still could. He could travel back to where they used to be and light the dreadful thing on fire; burning it for even his goddess to see.    Derek worked his jaw trying to figure out just what to do with the disgusting thing. The longer he took in deciding if it was worth examining, the quieter the apartment became.

Chapter 27

“You do?” Derek couldn’t possibly hide the surprise that lingered in his question.    Aislyn nodded against him.    “Why?”    Derek had to hear it. He had to know that this wasn’t just one moment in the sea of many still to be had or rather, missed..    Again, he felt her nod, but it wasn’t enough.    “Tell me,” he pleaded against her lips.    “It’s hard to explain,” she whispered, still seeking him… his touch…   Derek hummed again in appreciation that she was still speaking to him on this level; that she didn

Chapter 28

Aislyn let him forget his flaws as she traced her fingertips ever so gently across his marbled skin. It felt so similar to the way she touched him on the couch, but this was different. Here she climbed his strong arms, eager to touch him everywhere and it showed.    His love was following it as if it was a map to his needs hidden deep within his heart. He shuddered out a breath as she found her way up his neck to caress his cheek. There she sat up slightly to meet him. As her lips found his, he felt the way her legs released his sides, butterflying open for him. Derek’s eyes rolled back into his head as she continued exploring him. The feel of her hands splayed over his chest, each finger daftly ran against the tender flesh of his nipples making him groan once more.    She was going to be the death of him, he thought as she

Chapter 29

The thrill of coming apart with her, as awkward of a moment this was, had been everything. His love, ever eager to help him through this, still tongued his knot as he continued to gasp for air. Derek’s right hand dove into her hair, pulling it roughly to bend her back to him but she tightened her grip on him. It kept him oddly in place while he spurted hot ropes of come up into the air. It fell like lace, drizzling her crown, hands and tongue.    He’d never felt anything so powerful in his life.    The thought of his rut eventually coming to pass promised him that there would be plenty of times she could experiment with him in the future. It made him grin but then that lasting article of clothing mocked him. This afternoon, in no way, went according to plan. He was, however, completely bare to the love of his life, moaning

Chapter 30

Derek hung on the sound of her gasp for far longer than he wanted to, given his proposal. Wasn’t he clear? Didn’t she understand that she’d live freely with him?    “As nice as it sounds,” she began. “I’m human. I can’t shapeshift or… or grow a thick coat in the winter. Why do you think I have a million blankets on our bed?”   A four letter word threatened to correct her. Nest, not bed, he begged to keep inside.    “Besides,” she half chuckled, “If I gave Candice the slip, she’d have everyone on and off the grid looking for me.”   “So tell her this is what you want,” he replied, defensively.    “It’s not that easy,” Aislyn sighed.
