Chapter Sixty - One

Satine: Aldric could hear Calvin screaming from the front of the tent. Aldric took off in the opposite direction heading for another tent. Seeing it he ducked into it. The tent luckily was empty. Pack members were leaving their tents from the noise of the Alpha screaming. Aldric smashed the lantern into the floor of the tent. He looked around quickly. He needed to make sure this fire was going to spread quickly/ He pulled bedding off the nearby bed and dragged it near the puddle of oil. He knocked over a chair and spread some papers about. He grabbed the lighter and stack of papers for the night stand next to the bed. He set the papers on fire and tossed them down into the oil. The fire came to life engulfing the room. Aldric ducked out as the tent began to smoke. Aldric had to be strategic about this; he needed them scrambling in all different directions. Choas: Winter stepped away from Aldric, as Aldric slowly got to his feet. Blood running down his back and chest from the large puncture marks Winter’s teeth had left. Winter cowerder into the ground. Aldric shook his head at her. Seconds later another wolf appeared by her side, confused. Aldric knew immediately it was Luke he nodded to him as the other pack members began crossing the river. Winter whimpered again wanting to tell Aldric she was sorry. The noise of fighting caught their ears. Aldric saw Winter’s ear flicker. He could tell she was debating with herself on whether she should leave Aldric or not. Aldric sighed and nodded with his head for her to go. She didn't move. Luke had already started moving but Winter was still hanging behind. A mixture of guilt and not wanting to lose him again washed over Winter and Waverly.“Go.” He ordered them, his voice strong and stern. Struggle:“Alpha what about the rogues?” One of Rhett’s pack members said out loud.“Let them go, there's too much destruction for them to rebuild. With Calvin gone I doubt they will be continuing his plan.” Rhett said to him, he entwined his fingers through Aldric’s hand.“The Red Wolf. That woman. She got away.” Waverly growled fiercely.“Why is she important to you?’ Rhett asked, confused at Waverly’s anger.“She’s the one who killed my mate.” Waverly said her voice breaking as she tried to remain strong, but being here and in this element.Seeing her brought ever horror to forefront in Waverly's mind. She saw red literally and she wanted to destroy her like she had destroyed her life and helped destroy her pack.“We will regroup on this back at the pack house. Waverly you are injured and need to rest. We will find the red wolf but not today.’ Rhett said quietly.Aldric had shifted slightly hearing Waverly speak about Satine. Outlet: Aldric found himself pacing the floor in Rhett’s room. He welcomed the silence and the time alone. His mind was plagued with the thoughts of the red wolf Satine. Rhett had to wrap a few things and normally Aldric wanted to be involved but the growing weight in his chest was too much for him to handle. He took advantage of being alone. Red wood was three hours away, maybe he could leave in the middle of the night and make it back before dawn. What could she possibly want to show or tell him? Waverly. His mind said as if it was the biggest betrayal of his life. How could he go speak to Satine knowing she was the one who killed Derrick. His beta, Waverly’s mate. His guilt was tearing him apart. If she didn't have anything useful, he would drag her back and give her to Waverly. ‘If you keep pacing like that we are going to need new carpet there.” Rhett’s voice entered the room. The sound of it scared him and excited him all at once. Aldric stopped pacing and looked up at him

Sneaking out: Aldric held Rhett in his arms well after he had fallen asleep. A small smile on his lips as he watched him dream. In those few moments of laying in the darkness, the silence, just the sound of Rhett breathing nothing else mattered. Aldric’s mind had gone still and he was feeling a little at peace for once. He watched Rhett’s face shrink up several times like he was thinking of something but he would move closer to Aldric each time and his face would relax.Aldric had to find a way to sneak out. He needed to leave and needed to leave now. He didn't have much time. If he left now maybe he could go see Satine, hear her out and but back before anyone noticed he was gone. He shifted his weight pushing down on his arm that cradled Rhett, made a dent in the mattress and he pulled his arm out in one swift motion. Rhett groaned a little but curled into himself, not waking. Aldric carefully grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around him. Hoping the warmth will keep him asleep. He

Chapter Sixty - Eight

Red Wood:Within minutes the truck was surrounded. He had no way to go. He could reverse and slam into the truck behind him but that wouldn't give him out. He was worried about trying to push through the truck in front of him but he didn't know if he could push it far enough to get out. Aldric was also trying to avoid any damage to Luke’s truck. He gritted his teeth, annoyed at his current situation. Before long Someone was pounding on the driver side window, slamming their fist over and over again into the glass. The word fuck radaited in Aldric’s brain. Why didn't he think this through? This could not even be Satine’s pack. He cracked the window and decided he would just ask for her. The window cracked open as the people around the truck proceeded to pull on door handles and bang on windows.“Woah, chill out!” Aldric yelled, making his voice sound steady and strong.“Who the fuck are you and why the fuck are you on our turff!” Voice yelled back into the small crack in the window.“

Chapter Sixty - Nine

Myth:Satine took a long sip of her coffee as she leaned back in her chair. There was something entitled about her. Her whole presence projected that she was someone important, even in her red bathrobe. A man who Aldric assumed was Carlos came out holding scrolls and not books. The man was rushing, sweat beading across his forehead as frazzled black hair fell into his eyes. He fumblingly paced the scrolls down on the counter top in front of her. Aldric raised an eyebrow as he fidgeted in his spot. Xyler being annoyed that they were there was taking a toll on him. “Here Alpha.” Carlos said out of breath as he stepped back away from the counter bowing his head. “Thank you. That is all.” Satine said, waving him off with her hand. She glanced at Aldric, curiosity on her face as her eyes ran over him. She was trying to figure him out. She had seen him in battle and he was a force to be reckoned with. She saw his loyalty to his pack members and the ones he loved. And that alone helded st

Breaking Trust: Aldric stiffened trying to process that everything Satine might be saying was true. He wanted to deny it and go home but the second scroll was commanding him. He glanced over the wall. He had been here too long. Rhett would be waking up soon and he needed to leave. “I need to leave.” Adlric said quietly. “Ok.” Satine said not looking up from the scroll. “Carlos!” Satine shouted loudly into the darkness that surrounded the kitchen. Within seconds the same man that carried the scrolls in, appeared in the doorway of the kitchen. He looked nervous as if he was expecting to get in trouble. “Carlos, will you show Aldric out? Let the others know we have one departing, have someone escort him to the gates so he doesnt get lost” Satine smiled pleasantly while she was talking. “That's it?” Aldric asked out loud confused. He had been expecting a fight or an argument, something; not just ok. “What am i to do, keep you here? Lock you up in my basement or something. No. You
