Chapter 41 – The Light of the God's

LAMIA “How many dicks have you had in you?” So much hatred in his voice, I was the one who should be hating him after what he had just done to me! “Are you fucking serious?” I screamed as I pulled my naked body up from the sandy ground. My wounds from his claws and teeth were healing, but my legs felt like jelly and I fumbled with them a little before gaining my balance. My mouth gaping open and eyes wider than saucers, did this asshole just seriously ask me that, after the way he mauled me? “Three hundred, King!” I coiled my fists, throwing a number out there to just piss him off .“What the fuck does it matter how many dicks I’ve had inside of me?” I was so pissed now. He didn't get to ask that, no one got to ask that. Especially as he knows my history. I couldn’t be more insulted than I have ever been before. The man I love, the man I promised forever too, was standing here, accusing me of cheating! Of being a whore, throwing my past in my face, I stared blankly at him and fel

Chapter 42 – Not So Good Night

LAMIA By the time I had made it back down, I hurled myself into the thick of the fight. Our men had met the crawlers head-on and our gamma teams had pushed through to engage the rogue shifters. There seemed to be more bear shifters than wolves or cats. Usually, the majority werewolves. “Hunji!” I yelled out as I neared his position. He threw a sword at me and I began advancing on the monsters. It was not my blade, but it would do the job. “Nice of you to join us, your highness” How Hunji could joke in a time like this I had no idea. I gave him a displeased look over my shoulder. To my left, a few feet away, I saw Travis cutting down crawler after crawler. The alpha and beta teams were using their shields to protect themselves from gashes or bites, while still being able to wield their weapons. *Josiah, report!* I linked him; he was in charge of the gamma teams. *Not good my queen, we have more incoming!* His worried words reached me. *How many?* I asked him, stabbing a crawler

Chapter 43 – Facing the Beast

LAMIA I sat on a chair next to the hospital bed Travis was in, the machines beeped, monitoring his vitals. His heartbeat was still so low, and we were waiting to see if the drugs would help draw out the poison from the silver arrows and the nightshade they had been coated in. The doctor had come in and left a few short minutes ago. Travis’ wolf was trying to fight the infection and heal him, but the doctor told us to prepare for the worst. He also had a few gashes from the crawlers scattered in various places across his body. He was not in good shape at all. I leaned back in the chair and fished into the back pocket of the jeans I threw on; I hadn’t even showered yet, needing to be here with Travis. Fishing out my phone, I called the one person whose voice I needed to hear. The only other person who could calm my mind and tell me I was about to do the right thing. “Lamia, is everything OK, beautiful? Kellen has been going mad, he could feel your distress.” Hearing his smooth yet gr

Chapter 44 – A Broken Wolf

HUNJI 3 weeks later. Travis had made a miraculous recovery overnight, even his spinal cord, where an arrow had ripped through it, healed. She never said anything, but I knew what she had done. I saw the bite on his wrist when I went down to sit with him, thinking he was knocking on death's door. I would never tell Lamia, I knew what her blood could do, how it could heal. It was not my place and the fewer people who knew the better. I just wondered who actually did know. Obviously, Mathias, because he would have felt her bite him, knowing what she had done through the bond. Mathias had hurt Lamia, and I would have killed him that day if he tried to hurt her again. When he left, he left her broken. And when he came back, he came back to reclaim her. They seemed to be doing better than ever now, especially as they found out his state of mind had been altered by the tainted rum. And their bond had become stronger after he marked her with his bite. Something a bear doesn’t do, but

Chapter 45 – A Rogue Friendship

OLIVER It was about three weeks after the attack on MacTire, and we were currently camped out at Lake Maplepeak, in the Cila territory. Morngord forest sat just the other side of the vast lake. It was a good job that spring was in the air and the lake wouldn’t be frozen, making it easier for our fleet of small cargo boats to cross. After the attack, we split up. Jack and I headed here with some of Orion’s top commanders, while he and Finn went back to the Lewe compound to collect Shayna, his personal chemist, and some other things he said they would need. Finn took the young girl we kidnapped and won’t let her leave his side. I’m not sure what his interest is in the young child, but I hope he has good intentions. As much of a sick bastard as I am, I don’t like the idea of hurting children, that’s a line right there, I don’t cross. I scoff at myself. I have aligned myself with some of the worst characters that history has ever known. I stood by when Silas had fun or took his anger o

Chapter 46 – To Riocht We Go

MATHIAS Tomorrow morning we will leave for Riocht. It was almost a two-day drive to the edge of Morngord and from there we were not sure if our vehicles could travel through the forest. We would find out once we arrived, if there were roads or if we would have to make the rest of the trip via foot. I am assuming the latter, as the city was lost and, as far as we knew, nobody had stumbled across the old kingdom. Much like MacTire was abandoned and hardly anyone knew this place existed. Forgotten and isolated. Lamia had retired to our room earlier. I think the stress of Petra being in the hands of Orion, all the traveling and the battle we were gearing up for at Riocht was playing on her mind and she had been going non-stop for the past two months. The past week she has been looking tired, so I stepped up my role here. As her mate and a King, it was my duty to take care of her and her pack. Walking into the main foyer, I smelled Xander in one of the lounge rooms and made my way to w

Chapter 47 – The Guardians of Riocht

LAMIA It was now 4 days until Orion’s deadline, four days until the full moon, the day he told us to be at Riocht if we wanted to see Petra alive again. The little girl had been on my mind since the night Orion attacked MacTire. And every time I thought about her, my chest pulled tight. I felt guilty she had been put in this position. She was only ten years old and had already endured so much heartache, she didn’t deserve to be put through this. My eyes pooled with tears as I thought of how unfair and cruel life had been to her. I prayed to the Moon Goddess every night to keep her safe from harm until I had her in my arms. The dirt path we initially had followed was consistent and seemed to be taking us straight to the heart of the lost city. We definitely wouldn’t have been able to get any vehicles through here. Even though the worn road was still visible, it was overgrown with centuries of forestry and shrubs, so thick in some places that we had to cut them down using our swords

Chapter 48 – The Battle Begins

LAMIA Riocht was beautiful. The palace was built in white limestone. The central rise in the elevation of the building emphasized the main portico, which was framed by five symmetrical exterior arches. On the ledge are statues carved from either marble or the same limestone. Each statue, situated in the arches, was of a god or goddess standing with an animal. There was the Goddess Morrigans, with her wolf by her side, and one of Arcas, who I recognized right away because he was carved standing with a bear, the exact copy of Mathias’ beast. I saw the goddess Bastat, a large puma-looking feline woven around her legs. The one of Selene, the moon goddess, was unlike the one at The New Moon palace. There she was portrayed with a wolf, but here she was carved into a beautiful mother figure, with children by her feet, looking up at her in awe. Next to her was a large man, also with a wolf, regal looking and powerful. Then I saw her, the goddess Inanna. She stood front and center, a large

Chapter 49 – Father and Son's

FINNEGAN 2 Hours before the battle I was tasked to provide the crawlers, who we were able to move up the narrow river in containers on smaller boats, with clothing that had been stolen from the various kingdoms. Orion had spies in every kingdom, sleeper cells, that he used when he needed information or objects. Hence, the clothing we had of Lamia’s and King Kellen’s. The crawlers would hone in on the smell like wild trackers and, once given the command by Orion, would seek out that scent, their only goal: To bring down the owner. Orion and the bitch Shayna had set up a command base inside Riocht’s palace. After throwing in the clothing, I made my way back to the white-washed open squared building. My father wanted to keep me close, in case things went sideways for him and he needed me. What he didn't know, was that no matter the cost, I would help kill him. I scratched the back of my neck, feeling the metal chip underneath my skin that attached to my cervical spine at the base

Chapter 50 – Rise Queen of Shifters

LAMIA “Why didn’t you heal?” The concern in Mathias' voice was sweet, although he looked annoyed as his eyes raked my body inspecting the wounds on my arms and back, holding on to me for dear life, eliciting little sparks of joy to dance across my skin. I reached out to Inanna ‘Inanna, why didn’t you heal me?’ I was met with silence. I didn’t have an answer for Mathias. I shook my head at Mathias, telling him without words, that I didn’t know. “Where are you hurt?” I questioned him instead. “Nowhere baby, I healed.” He replied after biting his wrist and letting the blood drip onto and into my wounds, allowing them to begin healing immediately. I wasn’t the only one who had blood that could heal, it seems. I took a quick look around, and no one else seemed surprised, but Mike and Travis did give a couple of raised eyebrows. I wasn't sure what their looks were meant to convey, so I just gave them a tight-lipped smile. “Lamia!” My father came rushing to my side; he was wearing one
