I've lived a pretty simple life from the moment I was born up until now. My parents and I live in Castings, a small town with a reasonably small amount of people. I've never been anywhere else really. For 17 years of my life, I've lived in the same town, only hearing about the big cities on TV. But I'm not complaining, life here is simple. Everyone is so nice and we all look out for each other. It's very peaceful here too. You will hardly ever hear of a robbery or a murder. I only ever hear about those on TV and sometimes it scares me to be honest. Humans stealing from other humans. Humans killing other humans. I've always thought if there's one thing humans shouldn't be afraid of, it's other humans. And that's how life is here in Castings. I don't think I will ever want to leave Castings. I like to think I'll grow up here and find a decent job and marry Charles Richards- my boyfriend. Well, that's what I thought

Tony grabs a chair and slides into the seat next to me and I'm now sandwiched between him and Lexi. They're both staring at me, studying me like I'm a specimen in a science laboratory. "What??" I ask offering them a confused expression. "Your facial features are perfect.." Lexi says and Tony nods in agreement still looking at me like I was a specimen. "I do photography and I would like you to be my muse.." Tony says with a smile, as if that's a normal thing to ask people you just met. Before I can answer the door to the classroom slams open and a boy barges in, moving his eyes around like he's looking for something. His eyes land on me and he's staring me deep in the eyes. Tony asked to take some pictures of me for an art exhibit he is working on and well, I said yes. It's not like I have anything better to do anyways. "Should we be doing this during lunch time. Don't you want to take pictures outside? In the sky? With nature?" I ask him with a raise of my brows."Yeah yeah, we'll definitely take pictures of you outside. I'm just taking these ones now cause I can't get over how amazing your features are. I could photograph you all day.." Tony says to me with a grin on his face. "You're scaring her Tony.." Lexi says and I chuckle at her. "This is like..the second time you're eating just apples for lunch." Tony says with a confused expression. "Okay I get it. You guys are good but you can bring out the cameras now.." I say and they all give me serious looks. "This isn't a joke honey.." His mother says staring at me intensely. The woman walks closer to me and grabs my palm giving me a look that says I can trust her."We're Reece's parents. This is no joke. What we're about to tell you will change your life forever so we need you to be very attentive okay?" She says to me slowly in a soothing voice sounding more serious than she was before."I really have to get home...My parents will be worried. "Yeah yesterday was pretty intense..." I tell Lexi and Tony as we sit around on the lunch table. "Sorry we didn't tell you anything." Lexi says with an apologetic smile. "It's okay. Reece told me he made you guys shut up about it." I say"Yeah we kind of figured it out when you said he called you his mate.." Tony says. Because you have to break up with that human guy and focus on Reece." Lexi says as she chews on the potato chips in her plate. "His name is Charles and I'm not going to break up with him.." I declare and Tony basically chokes on his food. "What?!?" Lexi exclaims. "I love him and this whole mate things doesn't change anything. Can't Reece just find another mate or something?"
