Chapter 11

I couldn’t help but ask her directly. “What are you doing here?”  “I was meeting Blair Balfour,” Tiffany replied in a hushed tone. “I was hoping she could help me find Ryker.” Her expression turned sad and I felt bad for her.  While I’d been away for two years, I’d detached myself from everyone I knew, and that included Ryker’s big sister. I’d heard a rumor about Tiffany seeking witches and asking them to help her find her brother but every witch in the East had turned her down. Frankly, they wouldn’t want to be involved with wolves’ business. Deidre had once told me that the other two packs: the Erebus and the Night Walkers could assume that the witches were siding with the Ethereal should they lend a hand.  “How’s it?” I asked, holding her hand. “Did she say yes?”

Chapter 12

“I believe it was a few days after he left, this letter arrived at my house in D.C.,” said Tiffany as she opened her drawer and pulled out an A4-sized brown envelope that I often saw being used to store documents. After what had happened in the garage, she’d brought me into her bedroom which was bigger than my entire house and should be called a suite instead. She led me to a small living room where a wooden desk and office chair was installed. “He must’ve asked Dmitry to mail it.” She proceeded to reopen the envelope and produce two pieces of paper, then she set the envelope on the table.  “Most of the documents are instructions and whatnot. Things that he’d like to see happening if—” Tiffany stifled a sob and shook her head. “I’m sorry. I’m very emotional when it comes to my family. Anyway, yeah, basically what he wants us to do with his estate, assets, the pack, charities, and orphanages that he w

Chapter 13

No matter how many times I’d told Tiffany that I could be wrong, she didn’t listen to a word I said. She still believed that Ryker was truly in the same city that we were right now. She even wanted to begin searching for him, claiming that all she wanted was to see that he was okay. In the end, I’d informed her that I could make her see Ryker or at least see his surroundings through his eyes however this would require a lot of energy and focus.  Upon hearing this, she ushered me to the dining room where the butler and several maids were ready to serve dinner. Her son, Draven, didn’t join us, seemingly was still busy with his work or love life. Tiffany truly loved talking about her kids, so much that even after sitting there for ten minutes, I learned that she had eight sons and a daughter. One of her sons, in particular, Javier, was finally going to marry his secretary this year. Their love story was the new Pride and Prejudice according to Tiffany. I smiled as I listen

Chapter 14

“W-what?” I sat up and stared at Tiffany dumbfoundedly. “That’s not possible. It has been two years.” I wiped the cold sweat on my forehead with my sleeve, then swung my legs over to the side of my bed and stood up. “I can’t even shift or get my wolf to talk to me. How is it even possible that I can experience this heat thing if my wolf isn’t even here?” I started pacing the room, suddenly even this huge arse room felt too small, too cramped that I could hardly breathe. Tiffany moved into the room and closed the door behind her. She didn’t approach me or made any move toward me which was smart. I didn't even know what I’d do at this point. “We don’t have that many hybrids in this world, Xyrra,” she stated with a sigh. “Not many species mingle with different species. They usually stick to their own kind. I know this because many years ago, over two decades ago, I chose to be with my Chosen Mate who’s a human, and I was frowned upon.” She moved to the sofa a few feet away from her, the

Chapter 15

Ryker POV The shittiest thing about having to deal with this insufferable disease was that I had no recollection of what I’d done whenever Khrysaor took over. I was completely left in the dark thus there were these blank moments in my memories, gaps here and there that I wasn’t able to fill. I could ask Khrysaor about it but sometimes even he couldn’t remember. It was as if we both had a brain tumor or something. It was maddening. I supposed that was one of the many reasons why it had earned its name. Mad Wolf.  Back when the disease hadn’t been this advanced, I was able to control it. Just like two years ago when I’d realized that Khrysaor had been drinking Adelina’s blood. I’d managed to stop despite the urges and save Adelina’s life. She’d had bruises all over but at least, she hadn’t died. Violence and blood. Those were the two things that it was after.

Chapter 16

Xyrra POV I felt the connection being interrupted for a split second before it truly was severed. It was either because something had happened to Ryker or Tiffany not being able to retain the linkage. Whichever it was, both Tiffany’s and Ryker’s minds were no longer linked therefore she was no longer able to see things through his eyes. “Hey, are you here with me?” I asked her once I had pulled all my magic from her and was no longer touching her temple.  Tiffany blinked a few times and when she finally looked directly at me, I knew that she was here with me and no longer seeing through Ryker’s eyes. Her petite oval face paled, and her silver eyes widened in complete terror. It made me curiously wonder what she had seen. For the past two years I’d checked in on Ryker, he’d been in the woods which technically meant that I’d seen things through Khrysaor’s eyes, and there wasn’t anything remotely odd or terrifying. Perhaps we had caught Ryker and K

Chapter 17

I had two options right now. Either I could remain like this, seeing and hearing things through Ryker, or I could take over Ryker’s mind and actually have a conversation with Blair.  “What do you mean by Fleur Delvaux?” asked Ryker, his voice rising. He obviously recognized that it was my birth name from our last visit together when Adelina had informed us. “Leave her alone or I swear I’ll rip you apart. I’ve no problem drinking from a witch.”  His threat made me shudder. This wasn’t the first time I heard Ryker five out threats and yet once I had seen the evidence of what he’d done on the ground a few feet away from him scared the hell out of me. I wasn’t scared of what he would do to me, given my power and my capability of wielding said power after nurturing it for the past two years, I knew with my heart that I could handle him. He wouldn’t be the first werewolf I would be fighting ag

Chapter 18

“I’m having fun.” I grinned at him, pretending to be half-drunk. “I’ve heard all these stories about London from Trish and I want to experience them.”  Eros narrowed his eyes infinitesimally. “Why now?” He closed the distance between us until I could feel the heat coming out of his pores. “Why not two years ago?”  I quickly came up with something. “Because two years ago I still had hope. Now,” I shrugged one shoulder, “I just want to live.”  “Okay, but this might not be the best place to do that.” Eros held my hand and walked with me out of the noisy club and back to the streets of London again. “Where are you staying?” He asked once we were walking on the pavement.  “I haven’t figured that out yet.” I pulled out my key from the pocket of my leath

Chapter 19

“You know her,” said Eros, his eyes narrowing. Despite everything else, he was still a person I’d grown up with. He could tell from the expression on my face.  I had to be careful in answering his question. “Witches have a tight relationship. We know each other, and we take care of each other. Blair was an Easterner so of course, I know her.”  Eros seemed to buy my reasoning as the frown lines on his forehead slowly smoothened out. “She must have known that I was coming. I did a stakeout in that club for ten hours straight and it’s all for nothing. Fucking witch didn’t show up.” He shook his head, scratching the back of his head out of frustration. He moved to the sofa, no longer blocking my way, then sat there. His head was bent between his knees while both of his hands were resting on the back of his neck.

But since you choose to read this story despite the 18+ warning, well, enjoy what you signed up for.  °°°°°°° I’d soon found out from Eros later that night that not long after my departure two years ago, my dad had moved to the South and rejoined the Erebus pack. I’d long figured that once the Erebus, especially Alpha Leonidas learned that my dad hadn’t actually killed my mother, he would be reinstated back to his Beta position. But this also meant that Eros’s dad was no longer the Beta. I wasn’t sure how I felt about that. Eros had told me that he didn’t care but I could tell from the way he’d shrugged his shoulder that he actually did.  So much had changed over the course of two year
