Chapter 31: Ice Queen

*SILIA*“Are you nervous that you might run into your friend?” Diana asked snapping me out of my thoughts.“No, after a night’s sleep I think I feel better than before, why do you ask?” I rumbled out some words, slightly disoriented at her sudden question.“No, it’s just that you had a deep frown on your face,” she said concern visible all over her beautiful features. Her words made me embarrassed for that wasn’t the reason why I had been feeling gloomy. Draven had refused to leave my mind since yesterday night.‘He rarely comes back home, so you don’t need to be cautious.’ That was what Diana had said when I had inquired her about Draven’s whereabouts. It shouldn’t have been a surprise for me though. Like he had claimed last night, he was indeed in a mafia and must therefore be a lot busier than I knew him to be.“Sorry for worrying you but you know you didn’t have to come here with me,” I said slumping against the seat as I watched the familiar streets appear leading to my apartment

Chapter 32: Room

*SILIA* “You should go and freshen up. I can see that you are really tired. The boxes will be taken up to your room and arranged after a little while. While we were shopping I had instructed a maid to stock your wardrobe with some new clothes so you should find a pajama in there as well,” Diana said pulling me inside her lavish house. Half of what she said flew past my head as the exhaustion of the emotional baggage weighed my mind. I couldn’t get rid of the look of betrayal that Lisa gave me when I was leaving the apartment. “Silia?” Diana’s hand tapping me on my shoulder made me look towards her with a small smile as I willed for her to continue, “I know you are troubled and I might have been a little out of line today considering that she was your friend but I couldn’t just let her off after how she had treated you. Please don’t be angry with me.” This had been another one of the emotional tension that I had been dealing throughout the way. Diana had been feeling sad and guilty

Chapter 33: “You are jealous.”

*DRAVEN*“You can tell that she really likes you,” Diana said leaning against the door with a smug expression on her face.“Go away,” I grumbled already predicting how this conversation was going to go. As always she ignored me and walking inside after closing the door behind her she skipped onto my bed and sitting on the edge with an excited expression she continued to stare at me.Switching on the lights realizing that there would be no use of trying to sleep any longer I sat back against the head board and brought the blanket up to my shoulders. At my silence she waited for a few seconds for me to give in but when nothing happened she grinned at my resistance and said, “Aww come on don’t be like that. Just admit that you liked it when she came to you just now! She loves you even after everything.”“And you know that is a problem,” I said as placidly as I could. Her talking about Silia was making me uncomfortable but as characteristic to Diana’s nature I knew she wouldn’t leave me a

Chapter 34: “What happy news?”

*SILIA*What is wrong with me? Why did I go in his room? How did I even reach there when Draven’s room is in a completely different corridor than mine? While my room is in the west side of the mansion in front of Diana’s his is on the eastern side. Gripping onto my hair I tugged at it in frustration trying to bring my stupid brain to work and be more aware of our surroundings. What might be Draven thinking of me? Would he think that I purposely went into his room hoping to catch him off guard?Given how the situation presented itself and how big a blunder I made there was no denying this possibility. If probable I wanted this costly carpeted floor to open up and swallow me within the depths of the earth’s darkness where Draven would never be able to find me again. How am I going to face him again?Closing my eyes to block out the world I tried to bring myself to my senses again when Draven’s smooth skin highlighted gently by the lights of the lamp flashed in my mind. The dark crevice

Chapter 35: “She is officially joining us!”

*SILIA*The last time I had been here I hadn’t been able to take in the beauty of this magnificent building and today even though I have all the time in the world, my nerves were stopping me from truly admiring the stately base of the Calix Constructions headquarters.“You look as pale as your white heels, are you sure you are okay?” Diana asked from beside me. A mix of concern and laughter was clear in her voice making me turn to look at her and honestly shake my head to reassure her.“I am so excited and nervous at the same time that I am unable to understand how to maintain my sanity. I feel like I am going to make a big blunder as soon as I step in,” I confessed making her take hold of one of my sweaty palms and give it a tight squeeze.“Come on. I have heard all about your epic first visit from Alfeo so don’t give me this shit. I know you are more than ready to face this building and Draven again. Even better now since you already know him,” she said reminding me of the first tim

Chapter 36: Julia Simpson

*SILIA*“Draven! What the fuck are you doing?”Diana had been the first one to say anything at all while the rest of us had been standing still unable to respond to the scene before us.Any normal person would have by now been horrified at being caught in such a state at their work. Especially by their family but it didn’t seem like Draven could even hear Diana’s words because denying to release that woman from his hold he continued to kiss her for another thirty seconds after which he finally pulled away from her.All I could say was that it was a blessing that her ruffled hair had blocked out Draven’s face and their kiss because if not it would have been worse for me. I don’t think I would have the energy to stand here right now if that were the case.“You fulfill your promises well. That was the best kiss I had in a while,” Draven could be heard saying as he brought up her hand to his soft lips and kissed it. This gesture caused the woman to giggle while hitting his shoulders with

Chapter 37: “I’ll take it as a no.”

*SILIA*I had little to no excitement to clock in for work today unlike yesterday. After that breakdown that I had suffered yesterday for reasons unknown to the others I was sure they were all now completely aware of how much I had hopelessly fallen in love with Draven along with that new assistant of his.It was humiliating. I had never lost my composure like that before and I never wanted a repeat of like that again. To me I had always thought men took a second place in my life. I had always learnt to put myself before everyone else, given that I had been the only one who could look out for myself in this big lonely world. It was therefore surprising to see myself react in this manner for Draven.Something about him felt different to any other relation that I had made till now.“Fuck yes! Let me look at that beautiful face.” I heard someone call out and turning around I saw Alfeo jogging towards me coming out of a room. Behind him a few other men and women stepped out with some file

Chapter 38: Angel

*SILIA* “As you can see this room is already occupied so why don’t you come here at a later time?” Alfeo stated. Unlike how he usually kept a charming expression on his face for the women this time he had been devoid of that. It was strange to see Alfeo’s face look so grim. I had half a mind that anyone else would have been intimated by now and run away but Julia didn’t.“Oh don’t say that there are still two other booths that are completely empty. Let me kill some time. I was getting bored and I wanted to make friends with the two of you, this seems to be the best opportunity,” she said passing me a smile.“What makes you think you can become ‘friends’ with me? Who do you think you are?” Alfeo asked his voice almost freezing me to my spot and for the slightest second Julia seemed to have lost her composure. It was probably low of me to feel happy but I did.“Fine. This is the only free time that I have all day today, let me shoot some and I’ll be out of here. It won’t take more than

Chapter 39: This day couldn’t get any worse.

*DRAVEN*The loud bang of my door opening was a clear indication of my beloved sister. Since I already knew she was here with only one purpose in her mind I made sure to ignore her.“Seriously? What is wrong with you?”It was clear that she was pissed off again but it had been such a tradition these days that neither was it surprising anymore nor bothering enough.“Everything,” I said knowing that it would make her bristle up and one glance at her face told me that I had been successful.“Then why aren’t you correcting it? Why are you purposely being such a jerk?” she asked making me look up at her with a raised brow.“I have always been a jerk.”“Yes to me and many others but not to Silia. Why are you acting like this!”“I am not acting any different from how I would have treated any additional baggage that I would have been forced upon by my sister. The only reason I am tolerating her in our gang is because of you and Alfeo.”She must have seen the truth in my eyes because she didn’

Chapter 40: Worse

*SILIA* “Hi Silia!” Delilah one of the women that I work with and Alfeo’s staff greeted me as soon as I stepped into Alfeo’s floor. It was one that was just below Draven’s and looked like a typical office space of luxurious and busy companies. There were cubicles here for all the assistant workers in one corner while the main secretaries had their cubicles situated just outside of Alfeo’s office. A mini cafeteria was also installed in this floor for the busy workers for a quick snack if they needed one along with a nap room that was often used by my colleagues who had been working to their bone. If I be honest they got enough money for the work they did but it would be hard living a life such as theirs. They had me believed on the first day here that they had been robots disguised as humans. Taking my seat in the assistant cubicle’s area where my table was set I looked at the few papers that I had to segregate and then fill the numbers into an excel sheet. It was probably the easie
