Preening

OdessaWith a blink of my eyes, I woke up in yet another strange place. It wasn’t the dark cave that I had now come to call home and loved. The softer bed underneath my back reminded me of the treehouse back with the elves, and that’s exactly what it was.I was back in our smaller tree house where we had been staying with the elves. The gigantic bed was sunken and a large arm covered me. Now the tingles were stronger. The hot flashes of his arm had me instantly humming in contentment. How did we end up back here? Surely not all of it was a dream. My hand went to my shoulder, and sure enough, I felt the indentions in my shoulder where his fangs pierced my skin. Instantly I shivered. They felt so good to touch.Creed’s eyes were closed, his breathing heavy and steady as I faced him. His brows were furrowed, but instantly relaxed once feeling my gaze. I felt a wave of calm overcome my body while his body sunk deeper into the fluffy mattress

Fight

CreedAdam's nostrils flared, the veins in his neck pulsated each time he took a breath. Two of his warriors flanked his sides, each with furious looks. "You have not reported to me in three days. You have not relieved any of the posts of my warriors. I gave you two days to do what you want after killing those dark fairies, yet you continue to test my patience."The warriors flanking him looked to their Alpha, then to me, upset that I would leave those dragons sitting in their spots for hours. Guarding the territory was easy. Your dragon takes over, and he watches for any incoming unwanted species. Adam was acting like I left in the middle of a battle, which I obviously didn't then long ago, and I wouldn't now."If I didn't make that stupid promise to our mother," he sauntered closer, his muscles rippling across his chest. The other warriors gave a crooked smile, thinking they would get a show. There was no promise to our mother. I wanted to shou

Forced

AmoraNicholas' deep blue dragon flew me home. His wings were so powerful, using them sparingly as he slid through the trees of our home. His swift leathered wings were the fastest of our tribe besides Adam.Nicholas had become my best companion since Creed was exiled from the tribe. He consoled me when Adam was too busy speaking with the elders of rules and guidelines in Creed's exile. Nicholas was actually new to the tribe then, only moved in because he could not find his mate, but we obviously hit it off nicely. We were instantly close. I felt he could feel my dragon's sorrow when my spirit brother was no longer with me.Creed and Adam were the closest things I had to a family before my blood family passed away in a vampire spat. At the same time, they traveled across the pride lands of the Moon Kingdom. They had made various trinkets beauty potions that the jaguars, panthers, and cheetah females like to decorate themselves with. The rogue vampires came out o

Odessa We didn't wake up until the suns were high the next day. Creed and I defiantly missed breakfast, and I was going on day six without eating. My stomach growled angrily, only for Creed to rumble his chest in jest. The food from the night before had spoiled, so our best bet was to make our way down our tree cottage and find some food. I had done much better going down on the platform. The slow, steady way Creed would handle the ropes to keep it solid had my fear wiped clean. His eyes never left me, his hand always around my hip or arm possessively. If any human man did that, I'm sure my body would have reacted negatively, but he was a dragon and my mate. The new emotions swirling inside me only confirmed his loyalty and love for me, and his judging eyes of everyone to make sure I was not put in harm's way were reassuring. As we sat around the large tables, food was being served today. Many elves looked over at Creed warily, wondering if he would s

Cave of Wonders

Odessa The howls of laughter outside had me gripping Creed’s back for dear life. He wasn’t slow and calculating in his steps to ensure that I wouldn’t fall. Oh no, he had my legs gripped in a vice around his body as he ran through the cave. I would hate to know how fast we would travel on foot if a vampire tried to run after us. The cool cave tickled my backside, causing my tunic to ride up slightly. The long narrow mouth of the cave opened up to a giant room smelling of sea salt with a hint of the breezy beach. I barely got to look around until my back hit something incredibly soft. It was an entire bed. How they got it in here was beyond me. They must have built it inside the cave, bringing it in piece by piece. I thought it was just a cave, worried I would be making love on the coldness of rock and sand, but I was so utterly wrong, like I am most of the time in this world. The room was filled with expensive things, large tulle hanging around

Between a Dream and Reality

CreedIt couldn't be. I blinked my eyes several times. There she was, in the flesh, in a white dress that did nothing for her hourglass shape. Her hair was pulled back in one sizeable loose braid that lowered to the small of her back. Her soft yellow eyes flickered at me, a tiny smile performing on her lips."It's so good to see you, my little fledgling," she sang at me. I ran up to her, landing on my knees, hugging her tightly as I buried myself in her chest."Mother," I heaved a sob. No matter my size, I would always be her little fledgling. "I'm so sorry I wasn't there." My grip tightened around her waist, burying my face in her stomach as I cried. "I wasn't there to protect you." My mother's hand ran across the top of my head, her lips pressing against it."Creed, it was never your fault. None of it was. I'm so sorry you have had to live as you have for all these years. Even I was blind to your suffering when I was alive. I hope to explain why

Black Magic

AmoraWilla and Orion led me back to the castle, leaving my spirit brother back at the cave. I wrung my hands feverishly, the bond trying to pull me back to Adam. It wasn’t often I left the tribe, and when I did it was only for short bursts of time. I felt at home there despite almost all of it being fabricated.“Amora?” Willa grabbed my hand. Her white hair glowed brightly in the light sources. She had become a wonderful friend in a short amount of time. I’ve become closer to her than any other woman besides Adam Creed’s mother. “Is there anything we can do for you? We have your quarters ready. Guards are standing by your room, and the entire nation is on high alert.” Sighing heavily, I squeezed her hand. Willa barely knew me, but our friendship bond was strong.“This is perfect, thank you,” I whispered. “Thank you for everything,” I sniffed. The bond continued to tug at me, making me anxio

His Voice Returns

OdessaWe had only been sleeping a few hours. The suns were still shining through the narrow walls of the cave, giving more of that purple, orange glow. It was setting, not morning, like the pink tint of colors that dawn brings. My dragon was pushing my chest, forcing me upward. It was an anxious feeling in my stomach. Groaning, I sat up from Creed’s massive chest. His muscles were twitching, tightening, then falling with his shaky breaths. Face still feeling the heat of his body, my eyes glanced to his face. His face was so perfect to me, scars and all. I couldn’t fathom how anyone else would think any different, but this time when I roam his features, his scars were gone.Darting up from his body, one hand slapped across my mouth, the other tracing the deep scar that should have been going through his eye down to his throat. The tough skin, marred with red and purple, was now gone. His chest was completely clean, not a speck of once ripped skin.

Break the Bond

Amora“Come, come, this will be fairly quick.” The Fae Kingdom’s head witch, Davina, was guiding us through the forest with an entire entourage in toe. King Orion stood in front while Willa gripped my hand tightly, keeping me from falling. I couldn’t believe that I had black magic on me, but then again, this was Adam. He had lied to me for so many years and who knows how long this had been going on. What was the black magic doing to me?My feet stumbled. Nicholas, not far behind, grabbed me by the shoulders, only nodding, keeping me steady. He had been quiet the entire afternoon and the walk leading up to the magic to be cast out.“Just a little further.” The fae guard were wearing their silver armor. The clanking of the metal gave shivers down to my bones as the night continue to grow darker and the trees overhead blocked the stars.“It’s going to be alright,” Willa cooed at me. “Then we c

His Suffering

The whisps in the air surrounded Nicholas and Amora. Their bodies continued to tangle with each other through the night. The softness of Amora’s hair, the feather like touches she traced on several of his tribal tattoos had Nicholas’ dragon purring. Nicholas was over the blue moon. He had long awaited for his mate and here she was.Nicholas couldn’t understand how his mate was right under his nose the entire time. He had spent many years with Amora, always thought of her as attractive, and wanted to give her more than her supposed mate ever did. Adam was a busy Alpha, always putting the tribe first, but when his demands for Amora came to a head when he needed her most, she complied, almost hesitating.Nicholas saw it from the very beginning. The light colored dragon head on her shoulder should have been his first clue, but he shouldn’t question his alpha, so he let it be. Now her shoulder was covered with his mark, the light colored mark from Ad
