Shortly after, all her senses began to sharpen. Her night vision became almost perfect. She could smell impossible things: far-off storms, water, and sickness. It felt like she’d been living her entire life wrapped in cotton which muffled the world around her, and then, suddenly, the dampening blanket began to fall away. Then, the physical changes started. Her hair lost its color until it was nearly white. Her eyes, once a normal, soft green, were now a green so pale they were nearly silver. She’d hated those changes. The magnetism already made her a target, but with them, she became striking. Noticeable. Easy to spot in a crowd. But, with the bad came the good. Alongside those physical changes also came strength, speed, and stamina. Alcohol and drugs had only a mild effect on her, something for which she came to be endlessly grateful.
