“He would never do something like that!” I almost scream. I have lost it. I can’t do it. “Linnea, calm down,” Henry says, placing his hand on my back. “Nathan wouldn’t do something like that! He would never put the lives of others in danger!” I exclaim. He’s my husband. I know him. I know him better than they all do. I know we have been together for less than a year, but I know him like the back of my hand. It doesn’t take a lot of time to figure out someone you love. You just need to observe and listen and I’ve done that. I have listened and observed. I let him speak his mind and I memorized everything about him until I could easily tell what Nathan wanted without needing him to speak. “Mrs. Rodriguez, his signature is on the papers,” Mark tells me and I shake my head. “Fuck the signature! I slowly descend the stairs as I can barely see anything. As I reach downstairs, I find darkness taking over the living room that I can barely see in front of me. I take a few moments so my eyes can adjust to such circumstances, but I eventually manage to see Nathan. Why is he sitting in such darkness? Had it not been for the moonlight, I would have probably failed to see him. My hand reaches for the light switch, but I stop myself from turning it on. Nathan wants to sit in the dark and I have to respect his wish. He has enough on his plate already. If he finds comfort in the dark, then I won’t take it away from him. He has lost a lot already. This has definitely been a long day. I can barely keep my eyes open. I spent the whole day at the hospital with Sadie and her sister. The poor girl’s lungs are deteriorating more than they already are. She has been hospitalized and luckily, we managed to get her on the list for organ replacement. She's in a critical condition, which gave her a place on top of the list.I told Sadie not to worry about the money and that I would pay for everything. For the past three days, everybody has been doing their best to get proof regarding what Sadie has said to me. The lawyers are working and so is the private detective. And so am I; however, I’m trying to be discreet. I don’t want anyone to know anything about what I am doing. Part of what I am doing is illegal. I’m trying to hack phones and security systems. This is a crime, but I can manage. I can protect myself and erase every evidence that can be held against me. Nathan has been watching me. He’s scared of what I may get myself into.
