Chapter 50

After serving the dinner, Garaine sat on the chair opposite to Weylin, watching him eat. As he took the first bite, his tensed facial muscles relaxed while the frown between his brows eased up. His facial expressions changed from cold to warm ones. Garaine smiled, watching her husband enjoy the dishes. Suddenly, her eyes fell on the poorly bandaged wound of his hand, making her brows twitch. Did his wound reopen?! Garaine thought, noticing the big red spot on the white bandage. Why didn't he bandage the wound properly? Is he planning to let the wound get infected or what? She glanced at the young master only to realize that he was lost in his thoughts. Lines of worries formed on his forehead while his jaws slowly munched on t

Chapter 51

Garaine gaped at the exquisite interior decoration of the WeyRaine mansion. The glamorous silk curtains were covering the beautiful glass windows. The walls were painted with lighter shades of pink and violet, completely contradictory to that of the taste of a mafia leader. Though the light system wasn't very good, it was enough to drop the jaws of an ordinary person. There wasn't much furniture except a few essential things. She occasionally kept glancing at her husband who was showing her around the gigantic mansion.  "Well, you might find everything around here too plain and monotonous," Weylin said, showing her the gigantic hall where parties or banquets were supposed to be held. "Since you are the lady of the mansion, I expect you to take care of the interior decoration." "Huh?" Garaine blinked as she was comp

Chapter 52

The sun was yet to bloom on the horizon. There was a nip in the air, ascertaining that it was about the time of sunrise. The chirping birds, sitting on the sunshade, sang melodiously. Two people were sleeping peacefully in the drawing-room. Weylin squirmed a bit, bothered by the loud noise made by the birds. He turned around, closing his ears, expecting to continue his sweet sleep. No matter how much he kept tossing and turning, the sharp chirping of the birds pierced his eardrums. Finding it impossible to sleep, he opened his eyes. Huh? What am I doing on the couch? Weylin thought blinking, looking bemused. Suddenly, the incidents of the previous day flashed in his mind. Damn! I fell asleep while waiting for her. Speaking about her, where is she? As he was about to get up, his fingers touched the warm fabric of the blanket. His brows were brought together while his forehead wrinkled as he frowned. "A blanket? I clearly remember not taking any blanket." Weylin's eyes widened up

Chapter 53

It was around ten o'clock in the night and Weylin was still on his computer, attending a business meeting virtually. Since he was in England, he sent his subordinates to the meetings while he was connected virtually to the meeting. He attended three business meetings since the morning and it was his last one. Though he was completely spent, he had no choice other than to put on a professional business smile on his lips and continue his work.  "Damn! Finally, it's done." Weylin leaned against the backrest of the chair, feeling the soft cushion against his back. Massaging his temples, he threw his head back. "What time is it?" He looked at his wristwatch only to find it was half-past ten. "Why isn't Mrs Turner home yet?" His brows furrowed forming a frown.  He immediately phoned his wife only to realize that her

"Do we really have to do this?" Jace asked, putting on a so done facial expression.  Jace's hands were clasped with Weylin's while there was a minimum distance between them. Both of them being efficient dancers, they moved flawlessly.  "Yes," Weylin replied, sliding his hand to Jace's waist, following the dance position.  "What the heck, bro? It's so uncomfortable." Jace cringed, lips slipping down with discomfort. "Why am I performing the role of a lady?" "Because I am the man here," Weylin replied confidently.  "Do I look like a woman t

Finally, the day had come when Weylin and Garaine would be introduced as a married couple to the underworld. Since their marriage didn't happen in the best situation, and the bride was swapped, many guests had left the wedding hall like a bear with a sore head. Only a few trusted members stayed behind. Blake Turner wanted his daughter-in-law to debut in the underworld as the wife of Weylin Turner so that no one could dare to look down upon her. Garaine was seated on a soft cushioned chair in front of a dressing table. The makeup artist applied a few strokes of the fluffy brush on the apples of her cheeks, applying a pink blush to them. Swiping the base of the fan brush on her high cheekbones, the makeup artist highlighted them. "Your facial makeup is done, ma'am," the makeup artist said. "Please have a look at the mirror."The lady smiled a bit before lifting her head to check herself in the mirror. Her eyes narrowed as her lips stretched into a wide smile. "It's beautiful!" Garain

Chapter 56

"F-father?" Garaine uttered, gawking at him with utter disbelief. The person, who seemed to hate her the most, spoke for her. A lone tear escaped her eye, rolling down her rosy cheeks before disappearing into her clothes. She had been hardly holding herself together since she trained herself not to break down easily in front of others. But hearing those words from someone, whom she had never expected to support her, took her by surprise. Her lips trembled when she heard the word 'father' from his lips. Never in her life did she think she would be accepted by Blake Turner. And now he had proclaimed himself as her father. She was brought back to reality when she saw her father-in-law walking toward her. She flinched when she saw him smiling at her softly before gently extending his hand like a gentleman. "May I have the honour to have a dance, Ms Garaine Turner?" "Mr T-turne-""You should address me as father," Blake said in an assuring tone while his facial expressions softened. "

Chapter 57

Holding the stem of the glass delicately, Garaine Turner sipped on her freshly prepared Cinderella, a mocktail. Her thoughts drifted to her husband. She wondered what kind of task he encountered that made him disappear without a word. Her eyebrows were drawn together when a small voice whispered from the corner of her heart telling her that he must have ditched her because of the contractual marriage. Is it true? Garaine wondered, taking another sip which tasted almost tasteless to her who was deeply lost in her thoughts. A conflict started within herself, contradicting her thoughts. Her angel side was supporting the mafia leader while her devil side was continuously poking her angel side, trying to tell that Weylin left her because there were no mutual feelings between them. Garaine bit her inner cheek, questioning her decision. Judging from his behavior over the past few days, everything was going well between them and it seemed that they were on good terms. But this incident put

Garaine's eyes quickly read the room as she stepped forward. Standing in the room since the incident, she realized one thing- the weaker she is, the greater the chance of her being preyed on by merciless lords of the underworld. Being the madame of the Turner household, she couldn't just stand there and watch the dignity of the Turners falling apart. Taking in a deep breath, she smiled, looking as welcoming as ever. "Esteemed guests, you think that I pushed her 'on purpose' and it's my fault that she fell, isn't it?" Mrs. Turner said with an unwavering voice, maintaining eye contact with almost all of the guests. Her gaze appeared sharp and confident enough to leave the high-profile guests to think twice before speaking. Upon receiving no response, she again spoke. "I am waiting for your response.""It seemed so," a woman in a glam gown spoke. "Alright!" Garaine snickered. "Since you all are implying that it's my fault, I am accepting my fault." The moment her words were completed,

A surprised Blake turned towards Garaine only to see her sniffling. "My child? Are you crying?" Blake's eyes widened and he immediately stepped on the brakes. "What's wrong?""Father…" She broke down, burying his face in her palms. "I don't wanna go to that house. It's not meant for me. I didn't want to be a part of the underworld. Why did he marry me and leave me in such a tough situation? I just wanted a simple life but he married me and now I ended up in such a situation of fight or die. I want a break. I wanna go to my best friend's house.""Alright alright…But please stop crying." Blake bit his inner cheek, unable to understand what he should do to stop her from crying. "I want to go to Lucia's house," Garaine kept crying. "Please take me there. I don't wanna go to the main house. Please…""Alright, dear," Blake agreed, finding no other option. "Enter your friend's address on the GPS. I'll take you there. Alright?""Mhm." Garaine sniffled, wiping her tears like a kid. "I am so
