Chapter 61 - Stewing

Bryanna I stomp around the conference room. My father’s words bounce around in my head, but I can’t believe what he was saying. How could he even think I would do anything for him at this point? He is going behind my back, the pack alpha, and plotting something. I still don’t know exactly what, but an uneasy feeling washes over me every time I think about it. What is he up to? Zack steps up beside me and caresses my back. “Bry, baby, you need to calm down. You don’t know what he wants. He didn’t say anything other than he needs your help. Every time you tried to question him, he was vague and wouldn’t answer your questions. It could be nothing.” Nothing. Ha! If he is calling me, it isn’t nothing. From the other side of the table, Jacob shakes his head. “You don’t know his history. You only know a little of it, which includes her father taking her to a witch to cast the spell. That is only the tip of the iceberg and one of the many reasons, Hunter and I asked to be

Chapter 62 - The True Evil

Dale (Bry’s father)A faint grin dances along my lips as I lean back on my couch. My arms rest along the back while my fingers grasp the top of a short tumbler glass filled about half full of whiskey. Thoughts of my future wealth and power flutter about in my head as I slowly swirl the glass around in a circle. This is just the beginning. I have had so many dreams and ideas with my original alliance contract with Ted and Max’s packs, but those all have fallen flat when their stupid lunas got involved and halted everything. Why couldn’t those stupid women mind their own business? I’m not doing anything wrong. Plus, Bry is my child. I can parent the useless omega any way I want. No one can stop me. My lip twitches upward as images of those stupid women disrupting my plans flash through my mind. Well, this time they can’t stop me. I won’t be dealing with their packs. Bry can’t say no either. A rumor has gotten back to me through one of my many spies that both Jacob and Hunt

Chapter 63 - Talking to the Elders

ZackI stare at Bry’s laptop and the growing list of unread emails. She said I need to start to learn about her pack and what better way to do it than to jump right in, feet first, into the fire? But what am I thinking? Confusion clouds my head while my eyes nearly go cross-eyed looking at all the emails. With each passing second, more pop up and add to the growing list for us to get through. I take a deep breath and wish for some grand wisdom to wash over me, so I know how to respond to everyone. As I open the first email, Bry walks into the living room with a glass of juice in her hand. “So, have you gotten far? Or do you need me to walk you through what to do?”I tilt my head as I read through the message from an alpha I faintly know of. “I have helped Blake before and have watched over things when he was gone. But I’ve never had to deal with anything like this. The emails have not stopped coming since you opened the software. To be honest, I have never had to deal with

Chapter 64 - Arranging the Ceremony

JacobAnger washes over me as I run my hand through my hair and stare at my father. This must stop. The only reason I’ve been nice so far is because Dale is Bry’s father, but he is pushing his limits with me. I know Hunter feels the same way, too. We also can’t keep Dale’s behavior from Bry for much longer. The only reason we have up to this point is because Hunter and I help run Bry’s pack, which will end soon. We will still give helping hands, but soon Zack will be the one running the pack with Bry. My eye twitches as my frustrations soar. “You got Gwen out of the pack, right? She can’t be there anymore. Bry’s father will hunt for her, so she is no longer safe over there.”He nods and sits down on the couch. “Yeah. Gwen is safe, but I don’t know if Gale will continue to serve Dale or not.”My gut twists at the word serve. I know he is referring to something more than cleaning the arrogant alpha’s place, but I don’t want to think about it. I’ll get sick if I do.I turn

Chapter 65 - Contact

BryannaI breathe a sigh of relief as the ceremony finishes. Everyone congratulates Lindsey, Bethany, and Zack while they mull around in the bunker’s small room. With one command, Blake has broken the three’s connection to his pack. The growing issues with my fathers has involved the elders from all the packs, who agree the connections need to be broken at the same time. This will only buy us some time, but not much. I’m sure my father will soon find out three people instead of one have left the pack and that one of them is Zack. I wish there is a way for us to stay in this little bubble longer. I would call it bliss, but we are still working and investigating the issues with Yellow Moon. When we aren’t working on solving issues, we are wrapped in each other's arms and make love into the night. But through all the happiness, a little black spot named my father seems to mar our paradise. Pushing those dark thoughts out of my mind, I turn towards Zack and playfully ask, “Do yo

Chapter 66 - Cooling Off

BryannaI burst through the trees in my wolf form and dart through the forest. Alpha Trevor’s words roll around in my mind while anger consumes me. How can my father even do something like this to me? Has he ever even cared about what I want or what is best for me? I don’t have to think long as another wave of anger rushes over me. No. He has never cared about me. His only thoughts are about himself and what will help him. The only reason I’m the pack’s alpha is because the elders told him I was of age and the title needed to be passed to me. We also had an alliance with the other two packs, so the three alphas share responsibilities for all three packs. My father didn’t like it, but he finally accepted it after Jacob and Hunter’s parents threaten to break the alliance agreement if he didn’t transfer the alpha title to me. My eyes sting and glisten. Alpha Trevor still hasn’t told me the exact terms of the contract, but he has told me the basic outline of it. The part abou

Chapter 67 - Where Is She?

ZackMy heart races as I sprint through the forest. I can’t believe she went to the one place in the pack’s territory off limits to everyone right now. What is she thinking? A howl slice through the forest and right through me. I muster together every last bit of energy I have and push myself to go even faster. I need to get to her before anything bad happens. Another howl fills the air, along with a blood-curdling scream. My blood instantly runs cold as fear washes over me. Please, tell me this isn’t coming from her. Through our link, I frantically call out. “Bry! Baby! Tell me you are alright!”As my paws pound the ground, all I get in return is silence. No. This can’t be happening. “Bry! Please don’t do this to me! Tell me you are alive and fine!”My eyes sting as silence is my unwanted answer. I silently wish there is a way to talk and communicate with Blake and the rest of the pack, but I know since the ceremony, my link with them has been cut, and I’m working o

Chapter 68 - What Happened?

BryannaThe back of my head throbs as muffled voices off in the distance fill my ear. I keep my eyes closed, but I rake through my mind, trying to remember what is going on. An image slowly forms in my mind of me standing still by the pond and a large brown wolf walks out of the forest with several other wolves following right behind him. My gaze locks with the leader and my heart pounds against my chest, but before I can do anything, everything goes dark. Did I not notice another werewolf there, too? How could someone be able to sneak up on me? I’m a trained warrior and a great fighter. I know how to spot people by their smell alone without having to see or hear them. Something doesn’t seem right. There is no way someone can sneak up behind me. Pain slices through my head as I rake through my memories. My hope of finding something to tell me what really happened quickly fades. The sound of footsteps draws near and interrupts my thoughts. My heartbeat quickens as I force

Chapter 69 - Accepting

ZackI glare across the desk at Blake. What is he even thinking? Why wouldn’t we go and get Bry back right away? Delaying only means those jerks may hurt her more or something worse. The guy’s comment swirls around in my head and pushes my anger even higher. I ignore Bry’s pleas to wait. Later, she finally connected with me, but she didn’t say what I thought she would. A part of me is still a little hurt by her command to wait a few days. She said she could hopefully get more information about who is behind all of this, but I don’t want to wait. I don’t care about that right now. I want to get her back and wrap her in my arms and never let her go again. Doesn’t she understand how much this is tearing me apart from not having her next to me? Blake shakes his head and matches my glare with one of his own. “Don’t be like this, Zack. Bry even told you she wanted to stay with them for a little while longer and hopefully get some clues about what they are after or who is payin

Chapter 70 - Message

BryannaThis is definitely the first time these people have ever captured a person. They don’t know the first thing about blocking my link with my pack, or they simply don’t care. I’m not sure which one it is. I scan the room and locate exactly where the creepy guy is. He has tried several times to do something to me, but the apparent leader of the group has stopped him each time. I’m staying vigilant, though, in case the leader isn’t paying attention.Trying to concentrate and finding some helpful information, I put up walls in my mind so no one can link with me. My wolf keeps whining and wanting to talk to Zack, but right now, keeping on my toes and staying alert is more important. A dull ache radiates from my stomach as I sit back on my hind legs. The slight movement amplifies it, and I almost whimper from the pain slicing through me. The leader turns towards me at the same time I move and shift my weight around, trying to find some kind of relief. Confusion and concern f
