CHAPTER 31: Boy Friends

“HI, Nat.” “S-Scott...” I trailed off, stuttering by just saying his name.          He sat down on the opposite side of the table, smiling at me from ear to ear. When I didn’t say another word, he took a deep breath, before doing anything. Actually, I’m not yet ready to talk to him. And besides, he suddenly came here so I’m literally unprepared. “Would you mind looking at me?” he asked, so I did looked up to him.         I’m being shy for what I did and being hurt at the same time when I remembered what happened down the hallway of our school. Though I couldn’t even blame him for doing that to me. I mean, it’s my fault, I guess. So maybe I deserved it. “Look, Nat. I’m very sorry for screaming at you the last time... I shouldn’t have let anger get in the way of our friendship... And also, I shouldn’t have taken it out on you...”          He tapped my hand on the table

CHAPTER 33: The Cheaters

THREE weeks before the official end of classes for this school year, and two weeks for the student council election day. Our schedule became a hectic one, and only now that I realized the real meaning behind of the word “busy.”          Campaigning for the election and putting up the needed requirements for our finals wasn’t as easy as I thought before. I should have known better. I mean, if only I knew that our teachers are going to give us tons of homeworks and projects at the end of this quarter, then I shouldn’t have signed up for being a candidate in this coming election.            But even so, I’m not regretting this decision. Scott, Nathan, and I are having a blast together, and I could say that we are enjoying the stress and pressure that this activity is causing into us. We never been so busy before, and testing ourselves to the limits is a good thing, I guess. It will

OUR adviser told us that before we ended this school year, we need to select our student council committee. Now that we are already sophomores, we could finally joined in the election and even participate in the campaign... If ever that we wanted to join. “Nat, would you like to join in the student council?” I asked to Nathan, while laying down on his bed.         We are now in his room, just came home from school. Nathan is playing some video games on his computer, while I’m currently laying down on his bed doing apparently nothing at all.         He looked at me after he heard my statement, before chuckling like what I’ve just told him is a crazy idea. “What?” I asked, confusedly. “Are you insane? Why would I like to join in the student council? I mean, being a member means having a huge responsibility...” “Not when you have someone to help you,” I stated, flashing a

TODAY is the last day of the campaign for the student council election. Later on, the candidates for the position of president will have their final speech before the election day tomorrow. Well, it was just Nathan and Freeda for no one wanted to join except of them. Maybe because of one main reason... They are afraid of Freeda. I’m glad that Scott and I pursued Nathan to build our own party list. If not, then Freeda’s whole group will win by default. “Are you ready?” Scott asked to my bestfriend. “Damn! I’m so nervous. I mean, why do I even joined in this activity? You two should be the one to talk on that stage later on,” Nathan complained. “Nat, don’t worry. We are just in the backstage if ever that you needed help. We are here to support you.”          He sighed harshly, before picking up the remaining pieces of flyers on his desk. “Let us just roam around and distribute these to t

CHAPTER 38: Get Even

ANOTHER day passed by. Before going to our office, I decided to fix myself first in the girl’s comfort room. Besides, I don’t what to do any girly stuffs in the student council office because I’m sure that Nathan and Scott will surely tease me about it. I’m that type of a student that never cares about how the way I look before. But I guess that everyone change, and no one could stop that. My Mom said that it’s a part of growing up too. I guess I won’t be forever “that” boring Natalia Carter.             I smiled to myself, thinking about Nathan’s plan to help our friend Scott, get Becca once again. We miserably failed last year, and he learned his lessons now, I guess. So this year, we are going to make sure that we will succeed, one way, or another. I think it’s just okay to failed sometimes. But I guess she will, under the influence of Aunt Jessica, of course. “Hey, guys! Who would have thought that we are already in our junior days?!” Scott stated, flashing a grin towards Nathan and me who just arrived at the school.          It wasn’t just the same as before. I mean, a lot have already changed over summer. Scott and Nathan isn’t looking the same as before. They became taller, a lot taller than me, I guess. I couldn’t even reach their heads even if I tiptoe. I remained as small as I am before, but that wasn’t a problem at all. Ever since I got my first period, my Mom told

CHAPTER 37: The President

AFTER classes, we are finally going to see our office. The student council department. I’m very glad that our old squad wins, meaning that we will have a new place to stay just like this one. A comfortable place, even better. A place where we could hang out every day without any disturbance from other students. It was like they gave us our own lounge here, in Jackson High.         Scott and Nathan looked very excited, and I couldn’t deny the fact that I am too. Besides, who would have thought that the normie students like us will be the one to lead Jackson High’s student council, right? But still, the nervous and doubtful feeling about ourselves cannot be discharged out of our system just like that.           The three of us, Nathan, Scott, and I are walking down the hallway of our school towards our new little office when all of the sudden, someone came out from the random door of a class

We already prepared plan A to Z if ever that he failed to say his feelings again, and we are just going to stop if Becca said it herself... That she doesn’t want to do anything with Scott which hopefully, would not happen to our dear friend.   “He’s here! Scott is walking towards our office!” Nathan exclaimed all of the sudden, before dragging me towards the small cabinet in our office.          After we entered, we closed its doors shut, before we waited for Scott to enter the office. When he did, he sat down on the small couch, looking around the place as if he was searching for us. When he couldn’t, he sighed, before his eyes turned into our direction, making Nathan and I to be held back.            Nathan held my shoulders, pulling me away from the hole where we are looking at Scott. CHAPTER 40: Broken Hearts

The continuation... “I’M sorry, Tyler. But I can’t be with a loser like you.” Those words coming from Freeda shocked everyone, including Nathan and I. “What do you mean by that?” Tyler asked. “I don’t want to be your girlfriend anymore. You’re such a cheater. And I’m not coming back to someone who’s not as interested as he is last year.”          Everyone was terrified, witnessing the rejection of our school bad boy from the cheerleader captain, Freeda Samson. They can’t possibly believe what is happening, and most of them are holding on to the last string of hope that Freeda can still change her mind if ever. But it didn’t happened. Then again, I remembered that not all set ups could lead into a brighter side of things... Some just ended up like this... To ruin each other’s reputation just like what happened to Becca and our dear friend, Scott. But even so, only one question remain in my mind... Why do Freeda needs to publicl
