CHAPTER 11

A soft knock on the door stir Mike. He opened the door a few inches, just enough for a peep and Laura was standing on the other end with the most adorable smile. Her face fell flat with eyes searching through Mike’s appearance–Messy hair, swollen face, barely open eyes, and shirtless well-defined body. "You are still asleep? Get ready. We are going to be late for breakfast. Chop chop!!!” she had always been the edgy, neat, and organized one, chasing all the other 4 towards ‘betterment’. Mike couldn’t muster the energy to open his mouth and reply to her Frankly speaking,, even her image is still blurry to him. Hovering between planets, he gave her just a thumbs up. Closing the slit opening shut, he wobbled around to find Sarah still sleeping, buried overhead into the white cotton quilt. With a sickening groan, he robotically paced to a bath and got ready before she could wake up and have a heart attack. How lovely was it to find her still buried overhead when he came out, thr

CHAPTER 12

Dusky morning light painted the room with an amber, honey flavor. Mike stirred out of sleep and immediately began searching for Sarah. She was still next to him but wide awake like an owl. Flipped on her stomach and quilt capped over her head with her eyes fixated at the window in full-blown fascination. “Sarah, what are– “Mike couldn’t finish his words as Sarah pressed a finger over his lips in a rush and pointed over the headboard. “Look” she whispered and Mike mimicked her position, laying low and turned to look. A buck outside their window, feasting on some low shrubs, accompanied by some naughty squirrels jumping around. Mike took a long-inhaled air, much-needed oxygen replenishing. Such a majestic animal, dappled with royalty even when they are bowed at his most delicate moment. Mike looked over his shoulder at Sarah and there was a glitter of light in her eyes, like a child who had just seen a free ice-cream truck across the street. A smile found its way to his lips. He s

CHAPTER 13

The missing piece of the earth now has guests, bombarding it with their laughter, water splashing, and short-lived yelps. Minutes tumbled off with them laid like lifeless mannequins on the banks, side by side. Traveling back in time every once in a while, forgetting all the burdens, responsibilities, and additional facial lines that come with aging; like the little innocent child, is a piece of cakeland with a company like Sarah. But with his internal tornado under a gasket lid, she is an tempting company with her now pink flushed soft skin, radiating morning glow on the highest points of her face. He found himself searching for excuses to touch her. The water had successfully outlined her curves, not to be missed by a man. Some secrets are better left ‘un-outlined’!. Each line in her lips seemed deeper, whining for attention and his lips are throbbing in response. In desperate need of a diversion, he proposed to go back to the cliff in the name of air drying. Not too much to the ed

CHAPTER 14

His eyes landed on Sarah, on the edge of the high stool, wearing a white blouse with puffed short sleeves and a knee-high floral print, light pink handkerchief skirt. A glint in his eyes. He is doubly sure that she is the one but he gulped down confrontation before knowing her actual problem. Rubbing his close trimmed chin, he walked to her, deep in his own thoughts. He was wearing a smart black suit and a brown shirt with 2 top buttons opened. “You look like a mafia boss more than a doctor. How do your patients trust you?” she teased him with a gentle smile on her face, to be replied by a glare. He plops a Mac Donald paper bag in front of her and thrust his hand back into his pocket, looking down at her. It seems that there is a hidden agenda with this childhood friend of his. Apparently,3 years was enough for her to be so. Sarah’s eye brightened up at the paper bag and her fingers wasted no time to dug into fries, stuffing her mouth. With a muffled voice “Is this why you wanted t

CHAPTER 15

Eagerly awaited sun to arise, Mike marched into his clinic and made some arrangements. He postponed a few existing appointments and froze intake of any new ones for the rest of the week, channeling all his attention to Sarah. After running a few errands, he was free to stalk Sarah and so, drove straight to Imperial Restaurant. A light grey suit, light grey pants, and a white shirt neatly layering his tall masculine frame with sharp facial features– he was a standout and exceptional than any other in the restaurant. His eyes pinned Sarah sitting alone by the glass wall as soon as he entered– a single white rose would have to weep in her feet. Sarah’s eyes widened as soon as she spotted Mike but Mike shook his head slightly, signaling her to not react. He sat at a table across from Sarah and typed a message to her ‘We both haven’t seen Suman. So don’t react, he might be somewhere here. Just ignore me’ Mike sent out the message. For that ‘IGNORE??? Have you seen yourself in the mi

CHAPTER 16

It’s Friday and the 2 friends got ready with casual dressing to go side visits. The first building his realtor presented itself was impressive. The brief walk through the premise was convincing enough that this could be the best suit. A possible outcome of the building layout played within his mind-cell, confining all his needs in one spot. “So, where is your real estate office?” his deep baritone laced with the calmness of a 90-year-old, didn’t help but to bamboozle Sarah. She hasn’t finalized anything about his offer. Her well-kept silence was enough to give her away. With a sigh, Mike sat on the security guard’s motorbike and lit up a cigarette. His feet were flat on the ground even though he was completely seated on the bike. The short sleeve of his navy blue t-shirt tugs gently above his bicep, flashing the armband tattoo riding perfectly along with his well-toned muscles. “So, you haven’t decided” stating the fact. Sarah thrust both her hands into her jeans pocket and t

CHAPTER 17

Mike and the ‘unknown man’ are playing in the lane next to them. So obviously, he was eavesdropping. Unlike the few other players in the following lanes, focused on their game, weighing their aim. Suman waved his hand and a target board came in front of them. One of his subordinates placed a bow into his raised hand, which he held graciously and swung to his front, adjusting his arrow placement. Kind of unnerving Sarah, just a little. “Wait, we are starting? I told you, I haven’t touched the bow in years” she exclaimed a tad, not something he is used to. “Then use this as your training ground! I told you, we will play till you win me” he has his bow aimed at the board. “That is not fair!!! You are forcing me and I’m sorry I am not interested in this bet” she turned around and Suman lowered his bow, still eyeing the target board. “I know where you live. Bougainville residence." the bastard's low baritone strung Mike's nerve, gripping the counter. "And you are a realtor who

CHAPTER 18

Squeals and giggles filled the contemporary space. The girls throw their best pitch for the nightclub. Cloths, heels, and towels piled up on the bed, around Sarah. She stared at them blankly, sitting crossed leg on her bed as they flashed pieces of garments, hanging from cloth hangers around their neck–shifting to a facepalm– then to hide behind her palm– then her cheek rested on her palm, yawning. It is not an easy job for 3 girls to get ready simultaneously and it took almost 4 whole hours, before any signs of wrapping up seen in the room Shoulders slumped, yawns erupted and huffs of exhaustion lingered around the dining table. A couple of shuttle clicks, ending the games on their phone when they heard clucking footsteps from upstairs. Their eyes naturally darted to the source. Mike, especially on Sarah. The black, sleeveless bodycon molesting Sarah’s curves, stopped just at her knee. Her crowning glory that usually flows gracefully down to her hip in large locks of volume had bee

CHAPTER 19

The heat from late Sunday afternoon pierced through the sheer curtain, gently taping on Mike’s back–the one thing he hates about this new room of his and the one thing Sarah refused to give in–SHEER CURTAINS. With a low groan, he sat up washing his face with his dry palm. The punch in the throat was an obvious sign of dehydration as he staggered downstairs, wearing only a pair of jeans. Shirtless, to be precise. A pair of plump butt cheeks was the only living thing he could see downstairs, as Sarah had submerged her head into the refrigerator, scavenging for food. With swollen eyes and heavy feet, he paced up to her and gently touched the back of her spine. In a snap, a girlish scream erupted from within the refrigerator as Sarah jumped out, wide-eyed and trembling lips. She held her forehead with one hand and another hand on her hip “Jezz, Mike! You scared the hell out of me”. “Relax woman!” he simply pushed her away from the refrigerator, took an aspirin, and swallowed it

CHAPTER 20

After a tedious week, Sarah was done with arranging furniture in the building. Now, it’s time to focus on the balcony, the most exciting part for her. She had been meeting both Mike and the renovation supervisor, Mr. Daniel, almost every day. Sometimes she would meet up with Daniel by herself if Mike is busy at his clinic. Sarah was very professional and kept her dealing with Daniel strictly business. Daniel is a slender figure, not so tall or not so heavily muscled. He is also about Sarah's height, always well dressed and well mannered. In a nutshell, an equal match for Sarah. Toiling over the balcony layout under the glaring sun, Sarah was lost in her own world. A breeze of air, inevitable on the second floor had managed to keep her cool. “Sarah...would you care to join me for a cup of coffee?” Out of nowhere, Daniel gently approached her. Sarah snapped her head at him with squinted eyes. Naturally, Sarah refused politely at first. “Sorry Daniel, I’m not interested” just as
