Chapter 20

Thomas:I paced around my apartment as Kiara’s words played in my mind. The fact that I had hurt her enough to have such an outburst broke me a lot more than I could think of admitting. The way she looked at me, the way her eyes met mine as if she felt like everything she’s dreamed about was broken by me. It hurt me a lot that I was the reason of her feeling this much pain. Even more knowing that I had done it purposely. Having kissed her didn’t make things any better either. Especially since this was technically our first kiss.Running my fingers through my hair, I dialed her number to try and call her. However, I was instantly directed to voicemail. She got in the bus almost an hour ago, she should’ve reached her house by now, the time of night is what worried me about her getting on the bus. She would have reached her house a while past midnight, and I didn’t even know where she lived as to know whether or not it was secure, and there w

Chapter 21

Kiara:“You promise you won’t kill the lad?” I asked my sister who had her arms crossed over her chest as I got ready. Let me say that she was not very pleased with my decision, and I honestly feared that she would end up hitting the man on sight.“I make no promises”“Grace!”“What? You can’t expect me to be all loving and gentle after everything he made you face. No, the bastard is getting it from me” Grace said and I laughed shaking my head at my little sister who walked toward me. Her hands cupping my cheeks as she made me look at her “Kiara, don’t just hurt yourself for him. There are thousands of men who would die at your feet, you know that”I smiled at my younger sister, removing her hands from my cheeks before cupping hers and softly kissing her forehead “bless you beautiful, gentle heart”“You forgot lethal”“Don&rsquo

Chapter 22

Thomas:“What is this place?” Kiara asked and I smiled opening the door for her. I had rented a small place at one of the gardens for the two of us to have lunch together in private, knowing that mum had done her best to separate us the first time she found out about us being together. I didn’t want her finding out about it just yet. Not at least until Kiara trusted being seen with me again and trusted me to begin with.“Well, knowing you, you’re still angry with me. You know about mum being the reason the two of us couldn’t be together, not to mention that you’re angry with me not fighting for you. Therefore, anything I’ll be doing now would be to make it up to you” I said not answering her question just yet.“You doing this won’t change anything, Thomas. You not fighting for me against your mum is something. However. That’s not what is upsetting me” Kiara said looking at me. I frowne

Chapter 23

Kiara:I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t smiling like an idiot. The one thought that swarmed through my mind was the date I was in, the fact that it was a real date. Free of boundaries, free of being fake for someone, I wasn’t trying to impress him and I knew for fact that he wasn’t trying to impress me either. The man was being as genuine as I was being, and I was going to be lying if I said that I didn’t like it.“I take it things went well?” Grace asked taking sight of me as I entered the house looking like I won a billion dollars. She raised an eyebrow at me as she waited for me to explain my situation and I couldn’t help the smile that formed on my face as I remembered the date. I knew that I was being stupid for believing what he was doing after everything. But I couldn’t help but want to live the moment. Having struggled enough, I wanted to believe that something good happened, even if it was momentary.

Chapter 24

Thomas: “Mr. Thomas, the investors have arrived” Briana said entering the office. I nodded at her and the two of us walked out of the office and toward the meeting room, I smiled when I saw Kiara preparing coffee mugs for the men. The water bottles were already on the table when I arrived. I was aware of that, but to be sure that the coffees were hot, Kiara preferred making just before the meeting started. Walking inside the meeting room, I sat on my chair at the head of the table just as Kiara walked inside carrying two trays each with one hand. Briana taking one from her, each of them started serving the men who were smiling at them, one of the men winked at Kiara but I saw her pay no attention to him as she reached me. Putting my mug on the table, she smiled and walked out of the meeting room. I was aware that her shift was almost over and I was thankful for that, Briana noticing my uncomfortable expression frowned in confusion but I shook my head at her to stay q

Chapter 25

Kiara:“Welcome home, love” I smiled at my sister who smiled at me. She just entered the house after a long day at work, they had traveled to Scotland yesterday and just came back here.I wrapped my arms around her neck hugging her tightly and she wrapped hers around my waist hugging me back. I had come home from university and prepared dinner for the two of us knowing that she would come home straight after work, and that she’d be hungry. I was glad that she traveled with a proper budget, working at the Brooks’ mansion had paid off at least. I was able to send mum a proper amount that would help her buy herself a few things rather than just live a basic day. I wanted her to spoil herself.“Thank you” Grace smiled pulling away to look me in the eye “how are you? How was your exam?”“I’m fine, it went well. Do you want to go shower, freshen up while I prepare our dinner?” I asked and Grace n

Chapter 26

Thomas:I paced around my room not sure what to do.I couldn’t believe that dad actually kicked me out of the company because of what Nathan told him. His words against mine made me look small in front of dad, and seeing that dad actually trusted him and ignored me, ignored everything I tried telling him, hurt me more than I could think of mentioning or describing. Kiara called me again. The girl was probably going mad at my sudden disappearance, especially since she’s been trying to reach me since last night.I didn’t answer her though. I still needed time to process what had happened, the fact that dad was at work instead of me probably shook her up. Seeing that I wasn’t answering her calls made her worry more than she would dare let out at work. But I knew that she wouldn’t be at peace until she at least heard something from me.Therefore, taking out my phone, I texted her.“I’m fine, love. Just

Chapter 27

Kiara:I walked into the open room. Knowing from the nurse that it was Daniel’s room. Thomas looked up at me as he was looking at his little brother sitting on the couch beside his bed with his arms crossed over his chest. He smiled at the sight of me, and stood up wrapping his arms around me as hugged me.“You okay?” I asked and he sighed and nodded. Cupping my cheeks, he kissed my forehead and I smiled leaning into his touch. No longer rejecting it. I knew that he liked that I wasn’t rejecting him anymore. The fact that I was willing to trust him was something that he cherished, and I knew that he was doing everything in his power to earn my trust. That fact alone hurt me as I realized that I was not as honest with him. The deal with his mother was still on, and I haven’t done anything to let her know that I didn’t want in on it. The woman still expected me to seduce her husband into a hotel room, and I knew that unless I acted soo

Chapter 28

Thomas:I listened to Kiara as she spoke to Daniel. Her voice so gentle that I knew that even a crying baby would’ve calmed down. I smiled when I entered the room and couldn’t help but kiss the crown of her head making Daniel raise an eyebrow but not comment on the subject.“Do you want me to call mum and dad or?” I asked Daniel who shook his head. I knew after hearing his conversation with Kiara that he was very upset with both of them. But that didn’t mean that he was allowed to neglect the fact that they were his parents, or the fact that they would be worried about him. My problems with mum and dad were mine, whether it was mum not wanting me to be with Kiara or dad doing what he did to me. Yes, I will admit that he insulted my every spec of my dignity yesterday. But I didn’t want Dani being affected by it.“You would leave if they show up, and I don’t feel like listening to the argue about me getting sick&rdqu

Chapter 29

Kiara:“You’ve been ignoring my calls” Mrs. Iris said once I answered the phone.“Hello Mrs. Iris” I said ignoring her comment. It was true that I was ignoring her calls, but it was because I knew why she was calling me, and I didn’t want to be part of her stupid plan anymore. I regretted ever saying yes to it. Despite it being something that would help me out financially, I didn’t want to ruin my relationship with Thomas. The two of us were barely getting everything fixed and patched between one another, to be the reason that breaks it was something that I didn’t want.“I see that you’re taking a lot more time than you should in getting your job done” Mrs. Iris commented. I took a deep breath, preparing myself to tell her that I didn’t want this. I was getting ready for work and was surprised that she was actually awake at this time and calling me for such a task.“Yes, because
