Chapter 101

Roxy's POV Mrs. Bailey is quite good with her words, after our little chat, both Vic and I felt relaxed. She's just like a mother to me now. She's so sweet and she understood our situation and I thank God she was of help. I spent the whole of yesterday doing nothing, just sitting in Kyrah's room. I didn't want to watch television since all that I could see in front of me was a massive letter "S". I can still see it right now as I'm preparing myself to leave. It's now 6PM.I'd just ended a video call with Kye, told him everything that's happening and that I'd be busy solving a mystery on my birthday. Like who does that? "Interesting. But promise me you'll stay safe," he said. Kyrah walks into the bedroom and finds me staring at myself in the mirror. Atleast this time round I'm not in a shiny, fancy dress. I hate dresses. So I chose some black skinny jeans, a black t-shirt and a black leather jacket and ofcourse black converse. "Birthday girl, how are you feeling?" she places both h

Chapter 102

"Come here." Roxy opens her arms wide and welcomes her brother with a warm embrace, kisses his forehead and continues, "You don't have to get me anything, having you as a brother is a huge gift God granted me and having you around is more than enough. Don't feel guilty, it's just a day like the rest, whether I have gifts or not, all I'm grateful for is you and everyone else who is supporting us through these tough times. Like Kyrah and her family... And Scott too. So lighten up, don't be too hard on yourself," she says and he gives her a smile in return. She then pulls me to join them and we hug and chuckle at the same time."Now, time is running out, we have to get going," Roxy informs me as we let go of each other. We then go outside and wait for an uber Roxy had called and once they're in, I wave goodbye and they do the same.I just hope everything goes well for them.I walk back inside the house.****Vic's POVOnce the car drives off, Roxy sighs heavily. She looks nervous as hell

Chapter 103

Roxy's POVI am biting my lower lip pretty hard, tapping the seat in a quick rhythm, chest pounding so hard, I swear the driver can hear it. The situation we're in right now, has me feeling like I'm shitting bricks. No kidding. My stomach feels like my intestines have been tied into knots. When I turn to look at Vic, he seems uneasy. He's staring out the window and biting his fingernails. One thing that is common amongst us is that we don't know how to hide our nervousness. I'm no longer scared, but I'm dying to know where we're going. I'm tempted to ask the driver but since he has instructions, I am sure he won't say a word. It gets darker by the minute and as I check the time, I notice that we've been on the road for about forty minutes. Moments later, the driver leaves the highway and takes a left turn into a dusty road. "Are you sure you know where you're taking us?" I question. "Yes ma'am," he says while nodding once. Huh? Did he just refer to me as "ma'am"? No one's ever don

Chapter 104

"Let me make things clear for you. Remember when we were kids and I told you I'd got lost in alley? Bobby found me and brought me here. Also that time after... Mom died, I came here. There's also so many other times that I've been here, just to clear my head. Bobby watches over me. He knows you but you don't him. I don't know how but... they're all good people, trust me. You can calm down now. We're safe. The problem is, why are we here? Meaning... our mom knew this place." I turn to face Bobby and squint my eyes. "Is there something you should tell me?" my smile fades and I cross my arms in front of my chest and cock my head to the side. He clears his throat and rubs his overgrown stubble, then he sighs. "Follow me inside. The night is still young and you have lots of stuff to know," he says and goes back through the gate and we follow suit. Boogie and the rest remain behind to guard and as we walk beside Bobby, I can see the familiar trailers, well arranged. There are a few people

Chapter 105

"Dad! Is it really you?" I choke as tears are welling up in my eyes. My heart is racing faster than lightning. My palms are sweaty, I feel like the world is spinning or something. Am I dreaming? "Yes, it's me sweetheart," he responds. My heart sinks when he refers to me as sweetheart. I want to run into his arms but it seems like I can't even move, it's like something is holding me back. "But how? We saw mom shoot you and you were lying on the floor and... How is this even possible?" Vic rakes his fingers through his hair as he breathes heavily. "Son, when your mother shot me, I became unconscious and since the three of you left without knowing my condition, you couldn't have known if I was dead or alive," dad says and I swallow hard. "I don't understand." I cringe at the memory. "Well then why didn't you reveal yourself to me? I've been coming here for all these years but I had no idea you were so close to me. Why? Why did you hide?" A tear drops and a sob escapes from my mouth.

Chapter 106

Olivia purses her lips before talking. I can feel the temperature rising now and from the look on my father's eyes, he knows nothing about what Vic and I said, well except for the fact that he slept with her. The thought of it makes me want to gag. Ew! Dad moves closer to Olivia and his tall figure makes Olivia seem smaller than usual. She looks scared. Oh, she better be! Because all I know is that the Trents are the wrong breed to cross. Vic and I once got into a fight with other kids at the foster home and whatever happened that day, made the kids over there respect us. 'Never mess with the Trents' was what they said. Olivia and our mom are the Sanders, but when our mom got married to dad, Daniel Trent, she became a very different person. A Trent. No wonder she shot my dad that day. "We're waiting for your response, Olivia Sanders," I say. "I... I didn't–" "Please! We all know what you did because you did it to us," I say. "Even though daddy was alive I know him too well, he wou

Chapter 107

Olivia is staring at me, tears are trickling down her face and that's when I realize that my tears have been falling all along but I was too livid to notice. I was busy arguing. "Get out, Olivia!" I shout. Her name tastes so bad on my tongue. Immediately she turns on her heel and leaves, Bobby escorts her. Now it's just my dad, my brother and I. "Roxy and Vic, I am truly sorry for what happened to you, but I would suggest that we sit and talk about everything. Get to answer each other's questions. I am ready to tell you everything, only if you hear me out," dad speaks. I glance at my new wristwatch and it says it's 11PM.How?! How long have we been in here arguing? "Not now, we have to go home," I sigh avoiding eye contact. "Home? This is home," he says, gesturing at the huge room and I know he means Wolf Street. "We can't stay here," Vic says. Dad sighs and clears his throat. "I know where you currently live, I don't know much about that family but they must be treating both

Chapter 108

Roxy's POVLast night was out of the ordinary, with all that happened, all the yelling, the anger that took over me and seeing my father, I hardly got any sleep and spent the time staring into the darkness in a room that I was told was mine. The bed that I'm lying on looks so expensive, and the house decor, quite classy I'd say, looks like it cost dad a fortune. Where does he get all of the money from? I've been to the Street of the Damned for a while now but I have never ever set foot in this house. I used to see it from afar, a large beautiful house with flowers at the front, kind of like Kyrah's house but much bigger. Little did I know that my father spent most of his time in there and that I even had my own room in there! At night, so many memories flashed through my mind. I got so livid at some point, wondering why he did not show up, why no one even bothered to tell us he was alive. The thought of him being so close yet I didn't even know, made me clench my fists, making my na

Chapter 109

"Kids, I never continued having an affair with your aunt Olivia. I only gave her money to ensure that both of you were well taken care of, plus you don't know the whole story." "And that insane woman used all my money and lied that she couldn't afford to pay school fees for both of us. Indeed, she was trying to get rid of us, get us out of the picture and she succeeded," Vic complains. "She wanted to get rid of anything that was standing in her way. I bet she was probably plotting our murder next," I gasp at the realization. She even chased Vic away! "Lady Macbeth!" I say through gritted teeth. "Whatever happened between your aunt and I is long gone. I know both of you have been through alot, especially since your mother passed away–" "You don't even have the slightest idea of what we went through, dad! So don't say you know what we've been through." The scowl on Vic's face tells it all. He's as livid as I am, or even worse and when he speaks, he has direct eye contact with dad.

Chapter 110

"We haven't used it yet, because we weren't sure if this was a scam or not," I inform him."Clever as always," he smiles. "Now you can use it. Anyway, formerly, this place was a small trailer park, known as Wolf Street, the people who I found here were helpless. Some were orphans and widows, some came back from jail and found their women and children had moved away. Others were street families and some were reformed criminals. I decided to gather them all up, and with the help of the firm, we raised money, bought more trailers for them and gave them a home. Bobby was among the first people who lived here. I bought the land myself and swore to protect these people who are now my family, most of them who had no criminal records joined the army, people like Boogie. The government knows we exist, so this is not an illegal place I created. In fact, the mayor provides our security, they aren't goons, Vic. They are what kept me sane. A large family of good people.""Just like they are to me,
