Chapter 11

The strangers left, once again leaving me alone in the strange room, my heart continuing to pound as I cried for my father, for Terious and for all of my people, praying that they were okay and well. That they were alive somewhere and that one day, i would get back to them. But for now... I didn’t know what was going to become of me. I groaned, unable to sleep as the strange wires tugged on my arms, leaving me in vast amounts of pain. I turned my head to look at them, small amounts of blood trickling from the wound that they had created, the pain becoming unbearable. And yet, I was too afraid to call out for help, nor signal what I know realised to a camera; and I highly doubt that any human would come to help. It had been hours since I had seen anyone and longer since I had a meal, my stomach pleading with me to eat as it groaned in hung

Chapter 12

“No, not blind, but I do struggle to see.” She explained, amused by my confusion. The silence stretched out for a long while as Lisa wrote down notes on her clipboard, quickly checking me out as I watched; unsure of what to say. She eventually stopped writing when she looked at the wires in my arm, noticing the blood that trickled from the wound; her eyes widening.“What has happened to the IV?” she asked, tapping her bed against the metal bars on the bed.“IV?” I asked, frowning as I failed to understand her question.“The tubes that are in you arm 627.” Lisa grimaced at the sight of blood oozing from the wires, her skin paling slightly.“I don’t know what happened.” I replied honestly, “they just began to

Chapter 13

“I don’t know.” I murmured, “its been a while.”“Try.” James snapped, pulling me from the bed. “We don’t have time for 'I don’t know'. You need to move.”I stumbled and dropped into my knees, my legs swaying when I stood, unable to hold my own weight. I grunted as my back hit what looked like a stand, the strange metal holding the bed in the air, and though it seemed unstable it had held my weight just fine. I turned my head to look up at James and sighed, knowing that he required me to walk, but also that I couldn’t do so. Not after being bound to the bed for what felt like weeks, even as I knew it to be only days; after all, I wouldn’t be able to survive for weeks without food or water. My stomach once again rumbling as my mouth went dry, praying that wherever they were ta

Chapter 14

After the doctor had finished patching me up, he ran a few tests, but told me that it was all routine. Though I doubted that sticking a sharp thing that he called a needle into my arm and taking blood from me was routine, I sighed, steadily being carried back to the strange room they continued to leave me locked in. Why must they treat me this way? I wasn’t a danger to them or anyone else. I was just a wolf when the moon was full, not all of the time like some others from the village, I couldn’t change at will; to do so took a great skill, one that I never possessed.“You oddly quiet 627. What is the matter? Missing your alpha?” James mocked, opening the part of the wall that allowed you to enter what I believed to be my cell.“Yes.”, I responded sharply, crossing my arms as he placed me onto the floor. He smiled sa

Chapter 15

I woke from my nightmare in a cold sweat, quickly searching for Terious, but he was nowhere to be found. I shook my head, my eyes unable to adjust to the florescent light, my heart pounding. I had lost where I was for a brief moment, the cell around me butter and cold as I pulled the blanket tighter around my shoulders; tears welling up in my eyes. I wanted to go home above all else, and yet it seemed like an impossibility, I would never see my family again. I almost couldn’t comprehend the thought, and the fear I felt at the knowledge that I was completely alone in a place I hated with all my heart and soul.I jumped when the wall opened, bolting to an upright position on the rough bed, my heart thumping recklessly against my ribcage. A single stranger walked in, his brown eyes distant and uncaring. Who was this man? And more importantly, what did he want? He was short, with small shoulders and a square jaw. His feat

“She will answer.” James promised, laughing wildly as he continued. “All you have to do is ask Thomas.”Thomas nodded, adjusting his clipboard as he read through what he had already asked, clearing his throat before he began. “What place did you have amongst the pack?”“I was the alpha's mate.” I whispered honestly, showing them that I could cooperate as I kept my head low.“So you were to bear his children?” He asked, following up on his earlier question.I nodded, briefly glancing towards them. “Yes. I was to be the mother of the future alpha.”“I see.” He uttered, jotting down what I had said. “And how did you come to be the alpha's wife? Was it arranged?”

Chapter 17

I bit my bottom lip and shook my head. “It is hard to explain. We are simply different than we are in our human form.”“Then we shall have to research it more when you change.” He informed me harshly, quickly jotting something down on the clipboard.“What?” I gasped, shuffling back on the ground.“The changing is on the days of the full moon correct? So we shall bring in a cage and take what we need from you.” Thomas smiled savagely, taking a step towards me as he spoke.“You can’t do that!” I screamed, shaking my head as I was unable to believe such a thing; they can’t just put me in a cage! Surely that is against human laws?!“Watch your tone!” James shouted in return, viciously slapping me acr

I nodded, but said nothing as I cried, fearful of changing in such a place, especially when I had no control over where I could go. I had never changed in captivity before, nor have I been forced into a cage. This was all new to me, and I feared it above all else. I could do nothing to stop them, and yet I barely tried. Was I a cowered? Or was I making to right choices that would endure my survival here?“This is for our wellbeing as well as yours.” Lisa smiled, looking through the bars at me as I cowered. “Their is no need to be afraid. We will not harm you when the full moon rises.”“How do I know that?” I whispered, wiping the tears from my cheeks.“You have my word.” She responded, watching as the three men who brought in the cage left, leaving just her and James behind.

“Don’t just stand their!” Thomas shouted, his tone commanding. “Begin testing!”James laughed when the medical staff jumped out of their skin and propelled into action, seeming as though they had all been dazed by me in my wolf form. They pulled various tools out of their bag, including a large needle, though I highly doubted that they had the courage to come near me with such a thing.“first we need a sample of the creatures blood.” James told them all, gently pushing the one forward who held the needle.“Yes sir.” The young woman responded, her skin smelling of winter and wild berries.I growled, baring my teeth as she approached, seeing now as the opportunity to use my telepathy. “Don’t you dare.” I projected onto her mind, her eyes widening

Chapter 20

“James don’t be cruel. She is simply our best option. And the only one who has shown potential.” Doctor Vishal snapped in return, gallantly protecting my honour, for reasons I didn’t know, but appreciated. After all, I wasn’t a dog. I was a wolf; and  I was proud to be  who I was, no matter what it brought me. I was part of a pack, I had a place by my alpha’s side and he had one by mine; and that was how I liked it.“I can’t tell you anything.” I murmured, praying that they wouldn’t make me as I wrung my hands nervously.“Yes you can. You are safe here.” The doctor attempted to reassure me, his eyes wandering towards the ground.I looked down at my bruised arms, not believing him for a second. “No I am not, I was safe at home be
