Heated

Apophis had led me to a bathroom, one that was made for a king. As I looked around at the wide space I couldn't help but gape. The whole room was black marble with gold decorations. The gold tub was bigger than a hot tub, maybe the size of a pool. The water was already warm and up to the brim of the tub. The more I thought about it the more sense it made. He is an Egyptian god..    I walked around the room, looking at the hieroglyphics that were embedded in the marble with a thin gold band on the top and the bottom. The thin bands stayed parallel, trapping each image between them. The stunning gold shimmered in the fire light, drawing me closer as I watched, perplexed and amazed. The curves and grooves of each picture had an inlay of gold, the flickering of fire making it look alive; as if the birds and squiggles were dancing. I let my fingertips slide across the smooth engraved gold as I walked around the room. The four columns in the corners o

Broken and Hurt

The bath was soothing against the subsiding sting on Apophis's cheek. His mind twisted around as he soaked. He sighed heavily and slowly rose from the water, his steps slow and considerate as he grabbed the royal blue towel, quickly drying himself off with ease. Apophis started to dress, pulling his pants up and buttoning them when he felt the sudden wave of power. He paused, shocked; the power shaking the ground as it pulsed.    "Kasey...." His eyes locked onto the door and he darted to it, throwing it open as he looked around the room, "Kasey?!" He looked at the stairs to the underground room. His movements were swift as he ran down the steps, his footfalls echoing with the pulses of powers. He darted into the room and stopped, the fire before him swirling and hissing in anger. He narrowed his eyes and let his flames from within burst around him, green tendrils fighting against the fiery hot pink that struck out at him. He slowly walked into t

Red Metal

(Kasey's POV)      My mind eased into the soothing blackness that seemed to be the best cure for the painful memories. The gravestone mocking me as it faded back into the deepest pit I dug for it. Burying it as deep as possible. Deeper than the coffin that I watched float down into the mud and dirt. Deeper than the grief and anger. Deeper than the impossibility of forgiveness.    "Kasey..." I turned my head, the figure floating beside me sending me waves of grief. The fire sparked to life again. I sobbed, my hand reaching for the familiar figure that watched me with a soft look.    "I'm so..s..so sorry..." The broad arms encircled me, the soothing voice sliding into my mind.    "I know..I know.."    The tears fell down my cheeks like raindrops from a cloud. The gentle hug holding me tightened. "Dad—"    "But it's s

Cold Flames

The trek back to the room that was designed for me was like falling through a hole that had no bottom and just grew darker and darker. The coldness swept through my numb shell. Vetis's hands were still guiding me through the halls. I slowly let my gaze flick up to this demon's face, as human as he seemed, there was still something that was unworldly. His electric eyes met mine for a moment and I instantly let the ground catch my interest. His hand was on my back, slowly pushing me to the door that seemed all too friendly. Vetis chuckled and grabbed the handle of the friendly door. And with a quick flick of his wrist, he threw the door open. He gave me a gentle push, my numbed body inching into the room. I stopped at the center of the room and just stared at the ground. The click of the door behind me almost made my calm demeanor shatter into the real chaos that was haunting my head. His footsteps towards me sent cracks into the coolness of my very being.&

Calm Water

As I finally let out the pain my screams slowed down to just whimpers. My body curled up into a fetal position as searing pain throbbed through my body.    "Kasey!!" I heard him call for me but I could only see the flames of anger and hate. "Kasey stop!! You have to stop!" I felt a hand on my shoulder as I looked up and met the orange eyes of fire. Eyes of pain and anguish and worry. Memories flashed through my mind as I gasped for air, smoke burning my throat and lungs. My last thought was encircled by a name, Jackson. But the longer I reached for the memory, the tighter the oppression of my mind became. And before I could touch the edge of the image, the smoke curled around it and snapped at my throat.    My old friend curled its claws around me, its power pushing me into the all too familiar slumber...      The gears in my head started to crank again, and I slowly dared my eyes to

Stitches

The salty taste of a tear slid into my mouth as I grit my teeth and squeezed my eyes shut. The unending battle was slowly beating me. The tears slowly flowed like a stream."Kasey..." Apophis's voice was soft and sounded hurt as he grabbed my arms and pulled me into a tight hug.I finally relinquished and surrendered to the unending pain of my life. My cries are the only signal of my struggle and sorrow. I hugged Apophis tightly and sobbed on his shoulder as he whispered and slowly rocked me; a hand gently stroking my hair..."It's okay...it'll all be okay...and I'm so sorry.." Apophis made me meet his eyes and I watched his eyes tear up. "Please don't hate me for this.."I sniffled watching him with wide eyes full of confusion and tears, "wha—?"I gasped in pain as his hand suddenly punctured my chest, I looked down at the arm and slowly looked up in shock as I met the purple eyes of the foreign brown-haired boy.The boy smiled sadly,

I've been in the hospital for 3 weeks now, and apparently, I was missing for a few days before I was found. Half-dead and bloody as all hell. I sat legs crossed on my hospital bed quietly, looking at a word search I was working on. The pen's end stuck in my mouth slightly as i scanned the letters. The word I was searching for ringing in my head, "chocolate..chocolate...c..h..o...l...nope.... hmmm...chocolate....chocolate..."    A soft tap brought my attention to the doorway, a sweet little old lady peering at me, "excuse me, have you seen a young girl running around? She's wearing a pink dress and two bows in her long hair."    I smiled sadly, "no, I haven't. But ill let her know you are looking for her. And I'll let you know if I find her."    The plump old lady smiled, "oh, thank you, dearie. Her name is Diana, but she prefers to go by Ana. Thank you very much, hun."    "No problem. And what does she call you,

It's Right There

I sat speechless on my hospital bed as the little girl, Diana, rambled on about this ridiculous story, her grandma being a witch who put a spell on her parents. The curse only took effect when they ate broccoli. I did my best not to look skeptical, but I couldn't help but let my mind wander slightly. I slowly looked towards the door, the hospital was unusually quiet, which made me hesitate and look back at Diana. The little girl was still rambling on and didn't mind insulting me a few times just to show how more superior she was. All I could think was: "No wonder her grandma wants her to go to sleep...She never shuts up."    I glanced at the clock and stopped Diana in her tracks. Her train of thought screeching to a halt. "It's really late, and I need to get some rest so I can heal up. Otherwise, how can I help you?" I smiled slightly at her. Her eyes watched me for a second with hurt and anger before switching to a happy smile.

Princess

I stared in shock at the form before me, yet the nurse and doctor did not react to his presence. Could they not see him?    "You're right, they can't see me. Only you can. Thanks to that snake, Apophis... Of course, then again, I was the one that broke the seal." He flashed me a grin, his steps moving beside my bed, I stared at him, motionless. "Let's go for a walk, shall we?" He grabbed my arm and yanked me onto my feet. Pain slammed through my chest as I stumbled. He held my shoulders and smiled. "Can you stand, princess?"    "What...the..." I gasped, trying to figure out what just happened. The room looked different through the hazy field my pain gave me. It felt like my energy was being drained. I looked towards my bed, muffled voices and noises circling around the bed as the patient lay there motionless. Pyro let me lean onto him since my strength was very thin. My eyes strained to look at my body that had collapsed. The n

The Madhouse

A slow beating sound soon pierced the darkness, thu-thump. Thu-thump.    Was it a heartbeat?    Pyro came to mind suddenly, when he plunged his hand into me—my heart.    He said he would keep it...    He has my...          Heart?     I slowly felt my body coming back to me, the sluggish feeling settling as I looked at the bulky figure that stood next to me. He had hospital scrubs on, and a surgical mask. The blinding light he clicked on made me wince. The sudden cold touch of his gloved hand on my abdomen made me jump slightly. I tried to lift my head, but...I couldn't. Confusion and fear ran on a rampage in my veins.    The pain was a dull sting at first but quickly became unbearable. The pain started above my belly button, then slid up my body till it reached my ribcage. I tried to scream. The feeling of drips of some liqui
