Mesi's POVI pulled the door open, a hint of surprise awakening in my body as my mind began placing words together to express my approaching thoughts."Hey," I greeted, earning replies as I moved to the side silently telling them to come in."Didn't you guys get my text?" I asked confused referring to the one I sent stating that I would meet them at the park for dinner tonight."Yeah, but we were already on our way here," Destiny explained as I closed the door."And plus this morning you said you wanted to talk, so I thought we could do that before going out," Sam voiced gazing at me as Destiny moved towards the living room, her actions expressing her level of comfort in my home."Now?" I asked not really sure if I was ready to be in the same room with vulnerability."Whenever you're ready," she responded and I smiled, her response calming my nerves."Do you guys want something to drink?" I questioned dire

Destiny's POV I sighed moving to rest my head in Mesi's lap as she and Sam continued to talk, the tree offering itself selflessly as a barrier between us and the sun's glare, the act allowing me to fall gently into the cool surrounding breeze the day had created. We had been here for over an hour and a huge part of me didn't really want to leave until the sun had set, and I could only hope that their souls yearned for the sight as well. The feeling of relaxation continued its journey throughout my body and I silently thanked the glass of wine I had for my current state. Mesi had brought one of her famous bottles of wine since we gave her the job of supplying food for the day, with her taste in life being as Sam would put it 'boujiee' compared to ours. My gaze travelled to the lake that we were seated before and I couldn't help but to appreciate the beautiful sights the park displayed. "Do you want another glass?" Sam asked and

Mesi's POV My phone continued to ring as I pulled off my heels freeing my aching feet, a small sigh leaving me in the same instant as my hand travelled to my pocket removing the device, the sight of Jazmine's name displayed across the screen resulted in me answering the call that I had intended to ignore. "Jaz," I greeted as I walked into the kitchen turning on the lights, illuminating the space around me. "Hey, do you remember that number you gave me last week?" She questioned and I frowned placing the phone on speaker before resting it against the kitchen island as I searched through my current disoriented mind. "Last week?" I asked silently requesting more details since my memories were being re-jogged at a rat

Destiny's POV"Was that Mesi on the phone?" I heard Sam ask, the sound of her voice gaining my attention as I turned to face her approaching figure, the sight of her leaving me to stare as a sense of adoration began building in me."Yeah, she got held up at work, she's going home then she's coming here," I explained as she continued to walk towards me, her neatly cornrowed and taper faded hair making her features more prominent than before."Do you have anything to drink?" I asked her softly as I shifted on the couch, a small part of me craving the feeling alcohol gifted."Water and Kool-aid," she expressed amused and I smiled as she sat beside me, her presence seemingly crowding me as our eyes met."Nothing alcoholic?""Yeah, but you're not a big fan of beer," she reminded softly as she lifted her arm placing it on the back of the couch, her actions forcing me to notice the bandaid on her palm."What happened to your

Mesi's POVMy lips graced the rim of my glass as I took a well-deserved sip relishing the enjoyable taste that had recently exited my newly gifted bottle of wine. A sigh left my body as I glanced down at the face of the watch on my hand in wonder.I had invited Destiny and Sam over for dinner as an apology for my absence last night, it's not that I didn't want to see them because I had come home yesterday with the intentions of going straight to Sam's but a small sit on the bed had turned into hours of slumber.I wasn't even sure when I had fallen asleep I just woke up and knew that I did, I-My phone shouted out a set of vibrations, and I allowed the sound to interrupt my thoughts as I relocated my attention towards

Samantha's POVSweat travelled down my skin at a slow pace as I stood with another box in hand, ignoring the slight pain in my healing palm as I did. I took steady steps towards the vehicle as the chatter of the other workers around me echoed throughout the space, bringing about a sonder feeling."Is that the last one?" Joel asked curiously as I rested the box carefully next to the others in the back of the van."Yeah," I replied glancing at his approaching figure for a split second before moving to close both doors at the back concealing the multiple packages that were to be shipped."Do you need me to come with you?" I asked eager to know as I began removing my gloves, immediately inspecting my injured hand.

Mesi's POVMy gaze moved to her approaching figure in adoration as a small smile greeted my lips, her hair was released into an afro that stood with pride while her recently taper-faded hair continued to accentuate her beautiful features. The oil stains and numerous other marks on her tank-top as well as her opened short sleeve buttoned-down work shirt became evident as she stepped under the illuminating rays of the street light, and I lifted my hand turning down down the music as she opened the door, her brown eyes immediately meeting mine while-"You got here quick," she announced interrupting my ongoing thoughts."I was in the neighbourhood,""Your mother's h

Samantha's POV"How does it taste?" I asked watching as she began to chew the food I had recently prepared."Better than it looks," she mumbled making me chuckle as I continued to enjoy the calming sound of the rain outside."Do you still wanna order something?""No, this is actually eatable," she pointed out sounding surprised."Is that compliment?" I questioned smiling as I gathered a forkful from my plate."I just didn't expect for it to taste like this, especially after you seasoned it with the packet that comes in the ramen," she explained as I continued to chew my food."What else can you make with ramen?" she asked actually sounding eager to know, the fact pulling gratitude into my body since I knew her taste in life was far from this."Pizza, las-""Pizza?" she questioned in disbelief."Yeah,""Okay Sam," she uttered clearly entertained, not knowing how much the mere question meant.

Destiny's POV"It's at the end of the hall," The woman instructed and I released a small thank you, making my way over to it.I lifted my hand knocking on the door gently before pulling it open to see her sitting around her desk, her usually curly hair straightened increasing the displayed length."How was last night?" Mesi asked the minute I closed the door referring to my outing with my roommate, and I released a small smile as her eyes ascended to meet me."It was okay, I actually came home early," I explained as I began walking towards her, taking the time to appreciate the beauty of her office which practically mirrored her personality from the neatly stacked books on her desk to the black and grey that drowned the room."Really?" she questioned as I sat down in the chair before her desk."I felt like a third wheel the entire night so I just went home" I replied since my roommate had spent the majority of the time with

Samantha's POV I pushed open the entrance to the apartment complex stepping outside, the cool night breeze immediately greeting my beautifully melanated skin as I began my journey across the parking lot. The light from the moon illuminated my figure as I began tuning out my surroundings, willingly redirecting my attention to my thoughts. It was quiet nights like these that forced me to be grounded in the present, from the star-filled skies to the trees that swayed back and forth to the music sung by the wind.  Nature and just life overall was a beautiful thing and it was crazy how unappreciated this reality would remain until it became lost. "Sam," I heard a familiar voice call out the minute my feet were abo
