Kris picked up Sugar, the cat was much calmer now and made his way to his car.The next moments were a blur, he could not wrap his head around who would have anything against Ava.It was what made it even more unbearable, it was so unexpected and he couldn't even take a guess at who would benefit from this.He drove back to his house in a blind rage, it was a miracle how he managed to get back in one piece, considering that he was barely paying any attention to the road.There was no thought of reporting this to the cops because just as he innately knew that she was still alive, he also knew that this had nothing to do with a human or humans.So going to the police would be a waste of time, time he didn't have.

The journey was a quiet one, all three of them lost in their own thoughts. Brooke had barely gotten her son to eat, she was just as worried for him as she was worried for Ava. She could only imagine how terrible it was losing his mate mere hours after their mating. She knew that he was putting up a brave front just so that she wouldn’t be worried, it was the only reason she could keep her tears at bay. Kris was the first to wake up the next morning which was no surprise as he hardly got a wink of sleep the night before.It was still dark out, Niall was still asleep beside him.He got out of bed and headed straight for his mom’s hotel room to check up on her.The door was still locked the way it had been whe he left the night before and a quick peek showed him that she was fast asleep.Sugar was wide awake though, the cat letting out a quiet meow at Kris’ presence.
