"You're nothing but a bully, a bastard, a worthless man, a disgrace, and most of all, an ingrate!"  Colton said. "Who are you to call me that when you know nothing about me? All Mia told you about me are nothing but lies." He mumbled. The gun was still pointed at the side of his head.  "What more is there to know about you than being a person who portrays all of the qualities I mentioned. You should be ashamed of yourself. You call yourself a man, yet you depend on a woman for money."  "She did that out of her will. She was the one always opening her purse every time I was in need." He said without a care in the world.  "And you still have the guts to justify your useless self. Haven't you got no

Sunday. Colton spent his afternoon at a golf club restaurant. He had a meeting with some clients and it lasted for three hours.  Just a little over 6 pm, on his way to his car, his phone buzzed in his pocket. Seeing the caller ID, he sighed. It was Caleb, his brother.  "Hi," He answered. "Where are you, bro?" Caleb's whining voice came through. "Working"  'God, Colton! It's Sunday!"  "And?" Colt said, wanting to know what his younger brother was trying to prove.

After making more conversations with his mother, Colton went to say Hi to his father in the study room. They discussed a bit about work until a maid came to inform them that dinner was ready and that the rest of the family was waiting for them in the dining room.  On getting to the dining room, Vicky, Caleb, and Ashley were already seated.  Upon seeing her elder brother walk in, Ashley rose to her feet and went to hug him.  "I don't remember us being on good terms, young woman," Colt said, not returning the hug. "You're still mad at me?" Ashley pouted as she looked up at him in the face, still holding onto him tightly.  "I'm not mad at y

Chapter Fourteen

Pulling up in his penthouse's parking lot, Colton unbuckled his seatbelt and reached for his phone. He dialed Chad.  Chad picked up almost immediately. "Good evening, Boss. I was just about to call you."  Colt sighed, "Don't tell me my parents reached out to you already." "Yes, they did. Your Father requested my presence. I'm about to leave my home. Derik and Vicky knew Chad worked for their son so it was only reasonable for them to instruct him to come over to shed light on the matter. Colton ran a hand through his hair, regretting that he mentioned Chad's name to his parents. "Okay. Coming out of the walk-in closet, all dressed up for bed, Derik saw his wife, Victoria, sitting at the edge of their bed, deep in thought. He sighed, then went to sit beside her. She had not been herself since Colton broke the news to them. "Hey!" He whispered, placing his hand on hers and giving it a light squeeze.  Victoria looked her husband in the eye. "Where have I gone wrong?"  "What do you mean?" He asked. "Colton. I think I saw a different side of him today."  "He has always been obedient, he never fails to make us proud, he respects us as his parents, he respects our opinions, and e

Opening the door, Colton came face to face with his younger brother, Caleb. He sighed.    "Got some time to spare? I want to talk to you" Caleb said, looking serious which was sort of a surprise. Caleb was usually not a very serious person.    "Five minutes," Colt mumbled, going back into the office and taking a seat on the couch.    "What the hell is going on, Colt?" He asked, refusing to sit. "Who the hell is Mia and when did you guys create a baby?" Caleb thought he knew everything about his elder brother but he was wrong.   "I don't want to talk about it," Colt said.   "You said the same thing yesterday. You need to grow up, Colt. Life do

Stepping into her office, Mia came face to face with the one and only Victoria Royal who was comfortably seated on the visitor's chair. She felt a little difference with regards to the atmosphere and she was sure it was due to Victoria's presence.    Mia's office was of normal size, warm, neat, and decorated with just a few pieces of furniture. Usually, visitors had no business in her office if she wasn't present but they made an exception for Vicky.    "Thank Goodness you're finally here. I didn't know how much longer I could wait for you." Vicky's voice came through. Mia couldn't help but think about how a person's voice could emanate such power even though she spoke so calmly. Vicky was indeed a royal.    Taking a good look at her, Mia noticed that Victoria

Paying the taxi driver, She helped herself down from the car. Because of how pissed Mia was, She had absolutely no time to admire her surroundings. She walked into the luxurious building and approached the receptionist. "Good afternoon. I'm here to see Colton Royal."  "Good afternoon, Ma'am. Your name, please?" The blondie said politely. "Mia Edwards." She replied immediately. After typing a couple of things on her computer, She replied. "I'm sorry ma'am, your name is not among the list of people he has an appointment with today so you can't see him."  Mia sighed internally. "This is urgent. Please can you call him and let him know Mia Edwards is

Colton's eyes were trained on the laptop before him. He was listening attentively to what his partners on the other end were saying. But his attention was divided when he heard someone badge into his office. He was forced to look up and seeing who it was, he froze for a second where he was seated.  Seeing that she was walking towards him with nothing but anger on her face, he exited the live meeting and rose to his feet. Before Colton could say anything, he felt a hand land across his face. His left cheek to be precise. She hit him really hard. "How dare you?" She said with nothing but venom in her voice. Caleb who witnessed everything stood still in shock. Realizing they were probably having a misunderstanding just like every other couple, he decided to give them some privacy.

Chapter Twenty

Watching her slam the door behind her, Colton heaved a long sigh then went back to the chair behind his desk. Taking his seat, he buried his face in his palm for a couple of minutes.  Eventually letting go, he raised his head, picked up his phone on the table, and dialed his mom. He hadn't heard from her since Sunday. He honestly wanted to reach out and put an end to the lies that had been told before today but he had been very busy with work since Monday.  "Hi, mom." He said to the other end.  "That was fast! I guess your wife-to-be already told you all that happened."  "But Mom, why did you say and do all of that behind my back? I had it in mind to come over to the mansion and talk to you and D
