FIGHT OR FLIGHT

Morning had never felt so foreign, and the sky had never looked so dull. It was way early, before the sun even got a chance to shine its rays on the ground, and yet the blistering heat was unbearable, Luciana thought perhaps she had cranked up the air conditioning settings to high heat and forgot about it. She woke up drenched in perspiration, her bed sheets clung to her body. She had never felt so disgusted by herself. She did not give her body time to experience the discomfort, she immediately jumped into the shower, halfway done undressing herself as she left trails of her pajamas on the floor as she walked towards the shower. Her body wanted nothing more that to feel a cold sensation once more, and she granted it the pleasure. She twisted the shower knob temperature regulator all the way to winter cold and dove under the shower head, allowing the freezing water to wash over her back. Her body shuddered a few times as it was getting used to the sudden shift i

FIGHT OR FLIGHT II

“Do you have a family?” “No,” “What is your race, do you identify with any race?”“None, I'm not of any race,” “then that is what they mean when they say you are special. You have no family, so when you die or are slain and left to rot on the streets like a rat, no one will mourn you. You don't have a home, which means you have nowhere to go if things go bad and you have to go. The adversaries won't know where to seek for you. Because you don't have a race, your DNA and fingerprints can't be traced back to any Kingdom when they're found in a murder scene, making you the ideal assassin, a ghost who can't be tracked. The Watchers utilise you and then dump you out when they no longer need you, just like they did with me. So, kid, the only thing they noticed about you is that you are nothing, nothing!”   he eventually returned to the trail and walked away.

HOPE THEY ARE WATCHING

“During last night's interview, shocking truths emerge. More information is needed but based on what we know so far, it appears like two candidates for the champion of Ithea, Nelanian Henfery, and Cecily Ethel, will not participate in the next trials to elect a new champion. Nelanian declined to participate in the trials after learning that he had a brain tumour and that he would be unable to compete in them. Cecily, on the other hand, dropped out of the trials as soon as she learned of Nelanian's illness. She then opted out of the trials as well, making the decision on her own and without consulting her family. As expected, her move has sparked considerable controversy. Her father, who disapproved of her decision and hoped she would come to her senses, had been rooting for her and waiting for her to show off her skills in the trials. The instructors and staff here have praised her as a bright alchemist, possibly the most gifted of the group, and they are devastated to learn o

OUT TO THE WORLD

“We welcome you all to the first phase of the Trials of Ithea! ” the announcer said, eliciting a chorus of shouts from the audience.“The participants of this first phase will be none other than the candidates themselves. Luciana Vonner, Ithea's very own princess! The cameras zoomed in on Luciana, who stood clueless, and she could see herself on the enormous screen hanging over the arena, as the announcer shouted. She finally decided to wave to the throng, and they greeted her warmly, singing her name and waving banners spelling out her name into the air. Others carried cut-outs of her face, which they waved in the air as well. The atmosphere was electric and it was justified for the students to feel nervous, they had never experienced a crow of that size. “We have the one and only Jalon Barr, the teen sensation!” announced the broadcaster. OUT TO THE WORLD II

Because the King's Castle was close to the mountains, the temperature within the castle frequently descended to uncomfortably low levels. Mr. Ethel enjoyed warm weather. His own mansion was  located near a saline lake in the east.  As a result, he wore thick attire most of the time when he went to see the King. Mr Ethel entered the Castle wearing a big black overcoat and a sweater underneath it. He was escorted to the meeting by his business associates. They were not directed to the throne room as they had expected, but to a ballroom to the right of the Castle. Inside, the monarch himself was waiting for them. King Vonner had no intention of inviting anyone into the castle for a feast, much less meeting up with those who were already there. So was odd that he called Mr Ethel out of the blue to invite him to dinner. He couldn't afford t

Yet the ma who inflicted the damage seemed not to be impressed by the work of his hands. He stared at Nelanian's leg like it was not the best he could do. Which was somehow right, considering how huge he was, he could've have simply knocked Nelanian's leg off its joints.  hey, quit whining, I didnt even break the damn thing its just dislocated, the tall man said. He reached into his pocked and pulled out a lighter and a half burnt cigar. It was odd, placing a half smoked cigar back into his pocket for later. It seemed like ev
