Guardian Shelliot

We followed the guard up to the house. Guardian Torus's hopping and my wobbling strides took us more than fifteen minutes to accomplish this. The arrogant man paused in the hallway of the west wing. “I’m going to get cleaned up.” Two lines pinched between the guard’s thick brows. “What should I relay to the informant?” Guardian Torus turned his back to the young man. “Tell him I'll get to him when I get to him.”The guard did not approve of his leader's comment but showed no interest in bringing his thoughts to light. “Yes, Sir.” The poor man pivoted on his heels and left us. I could pity him. Guardian Torus was the devil. The young man had to work for him. I could only see how much verbal abuse he has gotten since he started working for this snake. It was a wonder all these merfolks were not bitter. Guardian Torus used the aid of the wall

Knock! Knock! I almost squealed in excitement at the sound at the front door. Prince Mitchalus's driver was here. Sophia forced a smile and gave my attire a once-over. Prince Mitchalus had told me land folks courted differently. Most of them went out for years without being ‘married’. It was a thrilling experience learning how to court on land. Prince Mitchalus was determined to let me undergo the pleasures of being on land. When he asked me out on a date, I smiled and nodded. My efforts to play it cool had not gone in vain. He did not comment on my reaction. Not knowing the next step, but wanting to please Prince Mitchalus, I had confided in Sophia. Right away, she knew which route to take. We went shopping. Instead of buying one dress, we bought three. Stilettos and accessories were a must. Sophia's words. We spent half a day getting me ready for the activities of the night. The first half of the

“Aren’t you going to answer that?” Guardian Shelliot placed a plate in front of me. The egg and cheese stuck out at the side of the sandwich. My gaze slid to the communication box singing and dancing. No, I was not. Prince Mitchalus has been calling me non-stop since sunrise. I was ignoring him. Who was he to dismiss me? I was royalty like him. He was going to be King, head of the monarchy, but I was to be Queen. It would happen whether we completed our matched or not. I deserved better than to be spoken to like a subject. “No,” I murmured. “How do I make it stop?”Guardian Shelliot rested a teacup with a dark brown heated liquid. “You can turn it off or put it on silent.” I handed her the small creation. “Please.” Guardian Shelliot chuckled. “I’ll just turn it off. If it’s on silent the vibration will still be an annoyance. Off is complete s

Prince Mitchalus’s sudden visit destroyed the mood for our girl's night out. Guardian Shelliot was no longer smiling. Now a scowl crinkled her beautiful face. It was like a warning sign warding off everyone and anyone. Sophia kept murmuring to herself that she had seen Guardian Torus before. Most of the time was spent with her nibbling on her bottom lip, wondering why he seemed familiar. I made her none the wiser. It was not my place to discuss Prince Mitchalus's business. He had to reveal himself to everyone. Due to the disastrous start of the night, we skipped dinner and went straight to the club. Between Guardian Shelliot's sneers and Sophia’s wandering mind, only rounds of drinks visited our booth. “I think he likes you. Why else would he take the time out to bust your balls?” Sophia tossed back the awful beverage called tequila. I tried a shot earlier but it was just too terrible. The burnt throat and warm tummy did

Women. Sometimes I understood why some men stuck to their gender or turned monks. On those pathetic days, I would consider boarding myself in one of those places monks lived. I would have already been there if it was not for my weakness towards females. By my third week in that place, I would be jumping the walls to find the nearest brothel. Pathetic, yep, that’s me. I froze at the pur coming from the bedroom. Shuffling followed the soft sound. I peeked out of the closet to the bed. Sophia cuddled next to my pillow, hugging it tighter, then settled back down. I went back to getting dressed. She, Shelly, and Little Miss Mermaid didn’t go to bed until four in the morning. They stayed up all night drinking and swearing off men. I had no choice but to hear. They weren’t quiet. I stayed in my room to give them room to let off whatever steam they needed. At four, the house went silent. I found them sleeping on the couch in the livi

I've called Alex five times and left three messages. No response to any of them. He was ignoring me. When Sophie might neglect me, Alex would never have. Until now. Whatever it was that was bothering him, he would come to me when he was ready. So I kept telling myself, hoping it was true. Trying not to be late for my meeting with the old man, I avoided dropping by Alex's apartment. He might still be out anyway. It could be a waste of time. If he was upset, his apartment would be the last place he would go. Even though I didn’t go, what Shelly and the mermaid debated about plagued my mind. According to Shelly, after a merman mated he would take on an awful seaweed scent to ward off the other mermaids. Other mermen would be aware of the scent to know he was matched. The mating stench indicated the power of the mated mermaid. The more pungent the odor on the merman the more powerful the mermaid. Once some mermaid noticed the powerful stench,

Thanks to my little derailed into my miscreant side, I was late. The old man didn’t comment on it but got on with my training. I settled on the patch of grass overlooking the beach. Gramps paced in front of me with his hands behind his back. “What transpires during a Merfolk Royal debriefing?” His deep voice intertwined with the wind. I stretched out my legs and kept my eyes straight ahead. “The court assembles and each member relays the issue. Strategies for problems are also discussed at this time.” He practically beat this information in my head. Royal etiquette. Who said females were the only ones who got this training. I had to learn how to do everything as a King. For both creatures. Merfolks and Land folks. Each species was treated differently but with the same respect. “Hmm,” he whirred. “And, have you come up with a strategy for the problem at hand?” It too

Five miss calls and three messages later, Shelly had still not responded. A note stuck to the cupboard indicated her whereabouts. She went grocery shopping while Little Miss Mermaid was with her fiancée. I couldn’t understand why either of them had phones if they never used them. Shelly, for one, left the thing every and anywhere. It was always a headache when trying to get to her via phone. Sophie was no longer in my bed. The house was quiet and my bed was spread. I hit the shower, cursing at the sting of the water in the fresh wounds. Fel had inflicted more cuts than the other two times. Bite marks ran along my shoulders. One side more than the other. My back had suffered at the hand of those sharp fingernails. I couldn’t tell what was with her. Fel was often the one to get clingy after great sex. Her mind would go straight to wanting a relationship. This time the tables turned. She kicked me out. The worst part was I didn’t like

Soph and I finished eating. She stored Shelly’s unfinished meal in the food warmer and washed up. There was no use going after Shelly. I was in no mood to be reprimanded. Again. Gramps gave me enough to last a lifetime. When Shelly was ready to come to me with what was wrong with her, I would be here.Sophie wiped the counters and turned to me. “Okay, so, I have time now. I’m going to use it to make the forms. Do you know how many copies we’ll need?”Land was crawling with merfolks. They were good at blending in. There was no telling how many of them were here. “I don’t know,” I admitted. “Let's start with three hundred and send me the original soft copy before you start making copies. I want it to bend to Mom.” If I was going to make any moves, Mom should be the first to know. It would be hell on earth if she was the last. Regardless of the fact I was her son, there were things no on

When I got home, Sophie had finished the form and notice. She took the liberty of sending copies of each to me and Mom. In a record time, Mom edited, added the Northan Kingdom's logo and motto. The mission statement and logo King Rainard used in his time sat at the top of each document. They looked amazing. A Royal Summoning as it stated on the Notice. Sophie went as far as to get parchment paper, so the documents appeared more formal. Royally, she described it. We managed to print five hundred copies of each document. The location of the shelters was listed at the bottom of the notice. I tried my best to memorize them for later. I wanted Shelly to drop them off at the nearest shelters tomorrow. Sophie emailed the copies of the documents to the shelters that weren't close by. We expected to get a response by tomorrow. Everything ran smoothly. Except for the fact, Shelly was still missing. She and Alex still needed to be updated abou
